No, this thread is not about Crystal Method lyrics. (But it could be.)
I watched Tarantino’s Jackie Brown the Friday before last on Bravo, and was only about three minutes into it when I realized that most of Sam Jackson’s lines contain profanity… and most of those profanities are instances of motherfer. At that point, I almost changed channels… but I had to see how badly they ruined the classic line "AK-47. When you absolutely, positively have to kill every motherf**er in the room."
That’s when I noticed that the overdubs of the profanity were almost more entertaining than the original dialogue… I meant to keep a mental list of all the phrases used to replace “motherf***er” but soon forgot.
Here’s the list I can recall so far:
Maryland Farmer
Mutual Fund
Yep. That’s it. Pretty mutual funding short, ain’t it?
Can anyone else who saw the Television Edit of Jackie Brown remember more of these?
I watched this intermittently on Sunday as I was napping on the couch. I think I remember hearing a MF being replaced by a “monkey flinger”. It was a bit surreal, esp. when Jackie Brown (Grier) got away with “god damn” later on.
It’s only too long if you say “Mare-u-land”. That’s not what most Marylander’s say. Most of us turn it into just two syllables; “Mare-lin” or “Mur-lind”. Something like that.
There’s a scene in The Lost Boyswhere the kid says, “my own brother, a god damn shit sucking vampire.” My brother and I used to think it was funny and say it to each other.
So, we’re watching it on TV one night, and he says, “my own brother, a gosh darn blood sucking vampire.”
