Yes, now they do (or both brands are owned by the same company). But it didn’t use to be that way; they used to be rivals.
But I’m having a hard time finding a cite for this online. The best I could find is a page on Google books from the Encyclopedia of Junk Food and Fast Food, which says that
Hostess snack cakes were made by the Continental Baking Company
Dolly Madison snack cakes were made by the Interstate Brands Corporation (starting 1937)
In 1995, the Interstate Brands Corporation acquired the Continental Brands Company
Just me and you with the Drake’s love. As I mentioned, the pies were heavenly. Especially the cherry pie. With Hostess, you maybe got a piece of cherry with your liquefied sugar but with Drakes, each mini-pie had at least a cherry and a half!
