I so did not want to go pick up my little girl from school. (See I am a bad mother!)
But now that she’s home she’s all into it too.
I’ve been watching all morning.
Just now I saw her kind of crouch like she was about to fall over. She caught herself, started kicking at the ground and then started moaning (judging by the way her mouth was moving.) Poor gal is so tired! I hope she produces soon because I’m going to dinner tonight and I know all I’ll be thinking about is this silly webcam!
It’s been eighteen hours since the first mention of labor! Poor horse!
Does it normally take this long?
Does anyone know how long horses are usually in labor for? I’m getting worried!
I’m far from an expert, but she looks pretty darn uncomfortable to me. A lot of shifting around and stamping her hoofs. From what I understand, though, most horses wait until late at night to give birth, when it’s dark and quiet. Apparently they have the ability to suppress delivery until they’re ready.
I wonder what the Barn Alarm, low and high alert are for? Is it if an observer sees something worrisome they click a button?
She seems to be carrying differently than she was this morning. Usually it goes faster, especially at the end. I wish they’d had the vet in.

She is shifting her weight from hind foot to hind foot, picking up each foot partway to her belly, looks darned uncomfortable.
I thought I saw a contraction ripple down her side but haven’t seen another one, so maybe I was mistaken.
I’m going to guess so. Hope it doesn’t backfire; I’d be tempted to hit the Low Alert one right now, but I have no idea what’s ‘normal’ for a horse at this point.
She’s definitely at the ‘I’m uncomfortable and so I’m going to twitch around until it really starts happening’ stage.
Ok, I can’t watch this. She’s all alone Which is normal, but it doesn’t help that I want to be there with her RIGHT NOW to stroke her down until it happens, gah.
You have to be authorized to use the alert buttons.
I was curious.
Heh, you’re braver than I.
I showed this webcam to my mother; she had the same reaction. She keeps going back to see how the mare is doing though.
Taomist - Most horses prefer to be alone when they deliver. That’s why so many barns have the foal cams, even if they aren’t online. That way the horse can feel she’s delivering alone, but someone can oversee it.
Still, she’s been seemingly ont he verge for a long time. I wish a vet had seen her.

Just think, StGermain – next spring if all goes well you’ll be hovering over a foalcam for Nakota!
I think I saw it poking out!
I see something poking out!
Good to know I would be such a worried mom, pacing the floor and staring at that camera, gah!
Not sure what I’m seeing, but the foal seems to be peeking out on occasion. Could be just contractions, I guess.
See what I mean about the worried mom thing?

Wish I’d been around when my aunt had the sheep in the house during lambing season. I would have loved to have helped.
Oh, wow – she’s got her rump toward the camera now and her vulva are winking!
But nothing appeared. That I could spot, anyway.
EddyTeddyFreddy - I’m getting more scared thelonger I watch Shezza.
