Whew I’m not alone! Ya know, your eyes start playing tricks when you stare at a horse’s ass for eight-plus hours.
I understand; but your girl is a seasoned broodmare, she’s done this how many times before?
That’s a good point. There’s always a chance of problems, but she should handle herself fine until then.
She is BEAUTIFUL, so healthy!
Her baby’s gonna be gorgeous too
I predict a boy, though I admit I haven’t read upthread to see if that’s been ascertained or not. <I assume you can do that with a horse, no idea>
Her belly seems to be lopsided right now. I guess the foal is hanging out on one side.
ETF - I don’t know, I figure at least 6-7 times. And she’s healthy. But I lost my last mare when she tried to deliver and the baby couldn’t pass. We’d planned to deliver her by Cesaerean, knowing the cancer was blocking the birth canal. We expected to have two more weeks.

Ah, no wonder you’re getting gunshy.
Hey – someone just came and gave her a tub of food and she’s chowing down. It’s location positions her butt toward the camera.
Dammit, come on, girl – I have to go out to do late feeding in half an hour or so! A ten-minute drive each way away!
While we’re waiting:
A picture of newborn Nick sent to me by his breeder. That was… whoa Nellie, way back in 1982 he was foaled.
Cripes, I need to go to a meeting, but I’m hooked on this. Come on Shezza girl!
Do you still have Nick?
No, I lost him in September 2005, at age 23. Had him for the last 13 years of his life and I still miss the big red goofball.
**ETF{/b] - I was afraid to go take my shower, but no change yet. Nick did look just like his mom!

Well, crap. Have to go now to feed the horses, be gone close to half an hour – so hey! That must mean the foal will be borned by the time I get back!
Also his daddy! A halter champion back when they could do more than just stand there and look purty.
One of my favorite pix of us together.
ETA: Damn, she’s munching hay, her tail has dropped back flat and she looks fairly comfortable. Time to go!
OMG, is this it?
…
…
…
…eh, guess not.
I understand why they call this camera feed, MareStare.
I’d really appreciate it if she’d have it by 8:00. My show is on then.
Lol, as soon as I wrote that, she started nodding her head up and down. She agrees.
I’m back! Did I miss…
Damn, no, I didn’t. Come on, girl!
Checking out the Witt website, I see all their other broodmares are broke to ride and if old enough are being used; Shezza isn’t due to an injury. I agree with FHOTD – broodmares need to be trained so they can have a future after their broodie days are done.
It looks like she’s makes a lot of noise. I think it’s going to be soon!

Yeh, I saw that! And she was just pawing.
But then she stopped and now she’s just standing there… again.
Whoops, now she’s backing into the stall wall… again. And just standing… again.
Gettin’ some last munchies in…
I have no idea how often horses really lie down, but…to me she keeps looking like she’s about ready to do so. Whatever that means >.<
