I think Squirmy should paw at Vi until she gets her lazy ass up…
Something from their board tried to attack my computer.
Awe, the poor little guy just wants to go to sleep. He’s resting his head on her body. Bad mommy lays down but won’t let him.
Check out the screen print I just took… Mom laid down (bitch) and little Squirmy is asleep standing behind her, using her back as a pillow:
They’ve been that way for over 5 minutes now.
Edit:
And she’s up again. sigh
Probably one of the animated smilies.
I didn’t have any problems (that I know of).
When I clicked the link on Mandy’s cam page to go to the rescue site I got warnings that trojans were trying to load; ran a scan and found two that had made it through. Don’t know if there’s any connection to any malware on the MareStare board but I think I’ll refrain from going there.
I went directly through MareStare, not the rescue site.
And… he’s down again, with her standing over him but leaving him alone.
Mandy just pooped. On the far right there’s either a lawn chair or the end of a cot. I think it’s a chair, but no one’s in it right now.
Virona appears to be awake and alert but calm. Squirmy’s little head and neck are flat on the floor.
Can anyone give me the lowdown on Mandy? I’m afraid of the virus.
StG
Wow,the little guy is getting extended downtime. He picked his head up for a few minutes, now it’s down again. Looks like he’s finally getting the sleep he needs.
Ha! Virona just vigorously chewed her right hind pastern and he slept right through it.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Now they’re lying down together, with Squirmy in front of Virona, and her carefully not crushing him with her head, since his little butt is against her forelegs.
Awwwwwww. Now that’s nice to see.
Squirmy gets revenge: “Hey Ma, get up, I want to eat!”
Ok, guess I should have been clearer about the link I provided. It is in NO WAY affiliated with the Rescue’s site. It’s hosted by MareStare and since we’ve all been practially living at their site this past week, I would think it’s perfectly safe. I was able to access it at work which is a fair indication of its safeness.
Anyway, after reading most of the 67 (!) pages in the thread, I’ve gleaned the following info on Mandy (most of which I think StG already knows):
Mandy is a rescue horse and is 18 1/2 years old. She’s had approximately 13 previous foals. She was very underweight when the she came to the rescue on Jan. 12 but is now doing well. The rescue is run by a family and this is their first foal and they’re pretty much clueless. The seem very nervous but are really excited. I’m a bit concerned about the vet they have as she seems pretty unreliable about showing up when she says she will. Hopefully, she’ll be better come foaling time. They’ve also posted a phone number to call if you see anything going on: 352-318-0394. Oh, and her manky ear was injured when a trailer door was shut on it.
In other news:
Mandy - still not popped.
China - still not popped but pooping away. Stall needs cleaned yet again.
Squirmy - he and mom must be out as the stall is empty and someone was just cleaning it. I’m bummed I missed them going out for the first time.
Do you think Squirmy’s legs look a bit better today?
They are back inside and Squirmy looks invigorated by being outside.
He’s amazingly strong and active for such a young baby. Is this just normal in horses or is he unusually strong and active?
P.S. Nursing. Glad to see that’s going well now.
I can’t really tell. If Vi would ever let him lie down and sleep I’m sure they’d get better!
He got a lot of downtime last night; I know, I was checking in till the wee hours. And I saw him lying down in deep slumber earlier today. I think she’s settled down a lot.
ETA: He just finished a meal and lay down. She’s standing nearby but not bothering him.
Poor China. Her stall is a poop-fest. I think it’s the worst I’ve ever seen it. Wonder where her mom is…
Hey! Pacific Pintos now has three cams working! China’s number 3. They switch automatically between them every so-many seconds. Number 1 is Blossom (China’s BFF) and number 2 is Cloud.
ETA: I do think Squirmy’s legs have gotten better – still not wholly straight but better than yesterday. Maybe being out helped.
