Poor StG - she’s missed another birth!
I have managed to miss all of them so far!
I know! She’d better not miss it when Nakota foals.
I wonder whether she’s picked a stud yet?
I’m in awe of her. I imagine she’s seen a lot in her life. People have obviously been less than kind to her and she needed to be rescued, pregnant and malnourished. Yet there she is, letting inexperienced people handle her and her new baby and she just stands there, calmly.
Either the colt got his first meal or they’ve given up – they’ve turned Mandy loose and stepped back.

So true. But I think she’s also known kind sensible treatment at some point in her life, hopefully most of it, because she’s so gentle and trusting with them.

Ha! Barry did something kinda like a run! And managed not to fall down.
He was around 370 days today. I don’t know what Squirmy was. Speaking of, he’s trying to nap and Evil Vi is pawing at him again. Poor Squirmy! Barry is lucky that his mom is so patient.
I hope you get to see China poop. Erm, I mean pop.
It’s pretty amazing. I wasn’t as stressed during Barry’s birth as I was during Squirmy’s. I guess I knew what to expect this time. Yep, I’m a foal birthing pro…

Ok, I just looked up an article on colostrum and, as long as Mandy hasn’t been leaking too badly, if Barry nurses within 2 hours of birth, it’s ok. He has plenty of time left.
Has China ever had a baby before or is she a first time mom?

Their web site says she’s had foals before but doesn’t say how many. They use “foals” so it must be more than one.
I don’t know if Barry’s nursed yet. And the halter they put on him really annoys me for some reason!
