Live Foaling Cam

Not that I’ve seen.

StGermain and Palo Verde, here are youtube videos of Barry’s birth if you’re interested since you missed it.

Part 1 and Part 2

I just checked the Mare Stare thread and the vet was supposed to visit Mandy this morning but there’s no update on whether she did or not. She’s been somewhat unreliable in the past.

Also, they’ve chosen to name Barry, Commander. Meh. He’ll always be Barry to me. And right now he’s running around the stall like a little maniac. Too cute! He’s such a ball of energy. And Mandy just looks itchy to me and not in any real discomfort but what do I know - this is only my second birth. Apparently, Unbridled Rescue got a couple nasty calls about the halter and how much they were in the stall before, during and after the foaling. I thought they did a fine job (again, what do I know) and the halter was a special new-born break-away type that Barry will only have on a couple minutes a day and when someone is in with him.

China must be out enjoying the sunshine as her stall is empty. And poopy.

Oh, and Centaur Farms really are calling Squirmy, Squirmy!

That’s awesome  . Where did you read this?

I emailed them to see how long they were going to leave the cam up for him. FYI, they also said his legs are absolutely fine and he’s doing great. And that Virona let him lie down and sleep most of last night!

Excellent! I came in when he was just out; look forward to watching what I missed when I have a chance.

Hey! My Morgan is named Commander! Well, he’s registered as Beyond Command, but “Commander” is what he goes by. At age 20 he’s healthy, happy, and clearly ready to keep going for years to come. Let’s hope Barry can say the same at age 20!

Ai-yi-yi! Large Woman (my God I can’t imagine hauling those bazongas around) is in there loving on Mandy and Commander – in flipflops!

Okay, frighteningly clueless people, but I give them credit for Mandy’s marvelous physical condition and for the swankiest foaling “stall” I’ve ever seen – it’s downright palatial.

I watched the foaling videos. It all went so quickly and smoothly. I wish my own births were as short.

News Flash: China’s stall is poop free! They must have just put her back in…

She’s often in bare feet!

I’ve found the importance of toes is vastly over estimated. Think of the money she can save on pedicures.

On China’s page they’ve added a message: “Both China and Lady have halter alarms on.”

I wonder what that does? Maybe if they lay down the alarm goes off?

Well, in humans a Holter monitor keeps track of heartbeats. Maybe…?

http://www.breederalert.com/cart.php?m=product_list&c=2 Interesting, never heard of it.

Huh. Makes sense, I guess, unless your mare likes to sleep flat on her side normally.

For our latest page.

Any more to add? This is addictive!

Report: Commander Barry is eating. Again.

Sarenia’s tail isn’t wrapped, so they must not think she’s near due.

China is poopless.

Late morning report:

The cam isn’t on at Unbridled.

Sarenia looks bored. Tail still isn’t wrapped.

Still all poop, no pop, with China.

I for one am getting bloody frustrated with that little mare. I want to see all the Tea in China! Pour it out, girl!

According to the Mare Stare thread, Unbridled lost power and are having trouble rebooting the cam. The vet came today and while they didn’t say everything was ok, they didn’t say anything was wrong either so I’m assuming all is good with Commander Barry (it kind of has a ring to it!)

Wow. I got around to reading the first part of the Mandy thread at Mare Stare and discovered those folks built that immense foaling stall just for Mandy. Og bless them! And because she’s a bedding-eater they bed the entire stall in coastal Bermuda hay. Good grief, what a huge investment in so many ways they’ve put into helping the old girl.

I tried to check out the Unbridled site again and my antivirus went ballistic, so I skedaddled before the page even finished loading. A full scan showed nothing got through this time (I was on a different computer with different antivirus software than last time), but I don’t think I’ll try again. I wonder whether anyone has told them about that?

ETA: Sarenia and China are still not looking like foaling. Mandy and Commander Barry are back on camera and he’s eating again.
