Wow, Mandy and Barry are sure lucky to have ended up with those people! If anyone can figure out how to email them without getting your computer attacked, I’d really like to give them a donation.
Well, well. I just got off a lengthy phone conversation with the daughter, calling the bottom of the two numbers shown on the Mare Stare cam page. Summary:
Mandy was meant to be rehabbed and go to a good home but they’ve all fallen madly in love with her and she’s there to stay. It took a lot of time to win her trust back after what she’d been through, at the hands of people so clueless they make Mandy’s current tribe look like freakin’ Xenophon.
They do rescue but they’re not a 501(3)© and don’t take donations – they just acquire, rehab and rehome (or keep forever) out of love. Mom does donkey rescue.
Daughter was surprised to hear that my computer’d been attacked when I tried to visit the website; she said she’d noticed it was a bit funky lately but… Anyway, she was grateful to learn of the problem and said she’d work on it this weekend.
I gave her an email address and she’s going to let me know when it’s fixed.
ETA: Daughter said they’d had their trainer out to look at Commander and the trainer was babbling about how fabulous the colt’s conformation is. Excellent bloodlines on both sides.
ETA2: Just checked Centaur – Sarenia’s got her tail wrapped!
I’ve found her email through the Mare Stare board. FG, I’ve PMed it to you. If anyone else wants it, just let me know.
ETA: Gaaaaaa! Another simulpost with ETF!
ETA 2: It’s Commander Barry, ETF!

Thanks** Surly Chick**, I’m going to email them and let them know how glad I am that there are people like them. Too bad they don’t take donations. They would have caught me on a generous day! I’ve already donated to Parrot Rescue today. Home - World Parrot Refuge
Awwwwe, I’m so happy for Mandy. You can tell she’s extra special and I’m so glad they’re going to just keep her. She can live out the rest of her life in, what appears to be, luxury. I’ll be sad when her camera is turned off for the last time and I can’t watch her and Barry anymore.
Hee! I clicked into Mandy’s cam just as she was pooping. When she was done and moved away, Commander Barry came over, sniffed the pile, then boink-boinked back over to mom.
No action with the other two. China’s stall is clean (at the moment). This is the latest message below China’s cam: “We are experiencing heavy rain storms here today. We may loose power and be off line for a while.”
I’m on the same coast at China and I can confirm that we are, indeed, having very stormy weather! 100,000 people were without power here earlier, 90,000 still without.
Look at this video of twin foals. Both bright and health!
China sure looks like she could hold it in forever. ETF - I loved your comment about all the Tea in China!
I can’t believe they built that beautiful pen/stall/paddock just for Mandy. Those are princely accomodations.
StG
Wow! Looks like they had the whole deal with vets and machines. Two would sure be cute.
Twin foals? Wow – very rare and very dangerous, for both mare and foals. I notice one foal is a bit smaller than the other; often the smaller one is severely so. And I also notice how small they both are compared to their dam – just think how much bigger Commander Barry is in relation to Mandy.
Sarenia has managed to get her tail wrapping off. The pink wrap is laying on the ground.
I only see one foal in the stall. I hope the other one is ok. The one I can see is so tiny! Barry looks like a yearling in comparison!
I see both babies now.
Report as of quarter of 5:00 p.m. Eastern:
Mandy and China’s cams aren’t on. Sarenia’s got her tail wrapped again and is puttering around her stall.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm… she’s licking and chewing; standing, she shifts weight from hind foot to hind foot, and kicks up at her belly half-heartedly.
Ah – now she’s picked up one hind foot and held it tight and high for a bit.
Now she’s put it back down.
ETA: Keeps picking up a hind foot high and tight. Stall-walking.
I’m starting to get worried that one of these times I’m going to be watching a foaling and something’s going to go wrong. I’m kind of weird about animals. One time I went into a pretty bad depression because I saw someone run over a squirrel and not even stop. I have a swimming pool for my dogs and every couple of hours I go out to do a check in the pool to save any bumblebees or beetles that might have fallen in. If I see a foal or horse in distress or die, I may as well go jump off a bridge and get it over with!
Mandy’s people have posted some adorable photos of the birth and shortly after on the MareStare forum here. I love the last one, taken just after Commander Barry stood up for the first time.
Sarenia is looking pretty restless. Maybe we’ll see something happening there soon.
Those are awesome!! I thought his tail looked sort of odd but in the webcam it’s hard to tell why. From the pictures now I know, it’s stripped! And look at his tiny little horsey penis! It’s a toss-up between Barry and Kristy for my favourite baby, but Mandy is my favourite mom so far.
Mandy’s cam is still down. Pacific Pinto has four stalls on one cam feed!
Sarenia is down.
Oh, I think she’s just rolling.
Sarenia’s down, cam’s on High Alert.
