Live Foaling Cam

looks like she turned around for you!

Crap, they can’t get it out.

AH! Finally, but what a struggle. Damn, that’s a big baby, isn’t it?

ETA: Hard to make out but I think the sign says filly. Or not – is it colt?

That’s not a foal - that’s a pony!

Yeh, I think it says “colt” – and what a monster! Poor Sippa foaled Gargantua, and good lord but she’s hurting. Call the vet! Give her some Banamine!

ETA: Okay, up on her feet and baby licking but still looks awfully uncomfortable.

little palomino colt - just need to give him a couple more weeks, you’ll be able to throw a saddle on the little brute! :stuck_out_tongue:

What is that women trying to do with him?

Hey, Aniya at Bowman has her tail wrapped tonight and the latest tweet is “Aniya tested 5 squares on her milk test. She is now at least in the “foaling range.” Please help us keep an eye on her.”

Darn you, ETF! I need to get to sleep. The guy comes tomorrow to haul Nakota to the vet. She got a bath tonight and is gleaming white. Of course, by tomorrow she’ll be grass-stained again. I should’ve taken pictures. I’m really pleased at how she’s come along. She seemed kind of gaunt in her flanks and a little ribby when I got her, and now she’s filled in nicely. We’ll see what the vet says tomorrow.

I know exactly how you feel StG! And I blamed ETF also…at first.

And then I asked myself, ‘who started this cursed, sleep-depriving thread?’

:dubious:

Snerk. StG did start it, but it takes an obsessive like me to make it mushroom into the soul-snatching, time-gobbling monster that it is.

Good to hear Nakota’s doing so well! You really do need to take and share more pictures, ya know.

ETF - I fed this morning and of course she’d rolled in the mud (first rain in three weeks, she had to indulge). I don’t have the photographic gift you have. I’ll try to do better.

Half Ass Acres has a baby mini donkey and it’s spotted! Some other mares have produced babies since last I checked. Lots more still waiting to pop.

Jill, the skinny mare at Joy Haflingers seems to be very restless this evening…

Indeed; she doesn’t normally buzz about like that.

Ah – just caught her looking at her flank. One to keep an eye on, yes.

ETA: Pacific Pintos is concentrating on one mare right now, with this latest message: “April 24th. Blossom has rock hard udders this am and is 358 days gestation. We are watching her. 6 hours ago”

ETA2: Yowza – Jill’s got her butt up close to the camera and you can see a pulsing bulge under her tail.

Nakota is at the vet’s. Irish wasn’t happy to see her go away, and she wasn’t happy to be loaded in the trailer, but traveled quietly and settled in just fine. She did an ultrasound and says she should be able to be breed in 7-10 days, just what I planned. She thought Nakota looked fine. in good weight and healthy. She has a bit of melanoma, which is to be expected in a grey horse.

Where is Joy’s?

Netherlands, I think?

Aniya at Bowman should be getting close, according to their latest: “Aniya continues to move up on the milk test. One more square and she is at 95% foaling range. It shouldn’t be long now!!! 13 seconds ago” – it appears her tail is braided, but right now she’s quietly chowing down on her hay.

Hey, ad Redwine, it looks to me as if that board across the lower part of the stall is set so the foal can go under it but the mare can’t follow. At the moment the foal appears to be trying to chew through it.

Oh – Joanne (or someone) just put a Low Alert on Blossom at Pacific Pintos.

Yes, the owner has this under her title and avatar on the Mare Stare board: “Sorry for my English, I’m Dutch!”

ETA: Owners have been alerted; are there but hiding so the mare can’t see them because she’ll stop pushing if she knows she’s being observed. So saith MS board.

Ha! It may be a while for Jill after all, according to someone named Portugal on the MS board. That person had posted about 20 minutes ago: “Update from the owner: She can’t go there. Because when the mare has notice that there’s somebody around… she will stop all activity! Wauw… I know it’s possible… So, we all have to wait untill she can’t stop anymore…”

And just now has posted: “Haha Saskie… they wen’t to bed again. Try to take a little bit of sleep. This mare is taking her time!
Due: the 9th of April! Well, on the Dutch forum and here, we will watch her.”

ETA: Damn, I have to go soon to do late feeding. Maybe this would be a good time. Or maybe I’ll go and that will persuade Jill to get that baby out.
