Live from Raleigh, It's The MMP!

Apparently so! Here I am allaying his fears & you’re giving away Top Secret US Navy communication codes. :smack:
Swampy, all future test flights are now headed towards Arrrgh-Kansas!

1am.

Google search “What to do with a trapped possum”

Pretty self explainatory.

I have a few insights into a more specific aiming point, worried about “Sweet Sweet Connie” but collateral damage be damned.

Day 1 of 5 down, tired.

Jim

Sorry buddy but I needed the laugh that gave me.

News story?

Cheers

Jim

I like you Spaz.

I worked, much weirdness. My hockey voodoo doll is working.

Nope, this guy has been living in my basement off & on for at least a year. Finally got him live trapped tonight. He’s now a few miles and across two rivers away.

Video

I actually fell a little sorry for him/her. It never hissed at me. It always acted calm around me. I imagine over time it could have been almost ‘friendly’. But time I do not have…

Will try to have video of the actual capture later.

Time for bed.

I am back at irk after a lovely easter break - went to Belgium for four days and drank my bodyweight in yummy beer. Tuesday I took Shadow to the vet for his MoT and they pronounced him fit, happy and a beautiful boy. Yesterday I went to visit my doting parent for the day and had a very good time with her.

Today I am back at irk, and it is immensely irksome. I am still trying to finalise arrangements for exams, and have now found a few more students with special arrnagements that need to be catered for. These are mostly for oral and aural exams which start on Monday so they’d better hurry up and get themselves sorted out.

We have had a feline interloper at home, some little sneakthief has been into the house and scoffed any dry food the resident fuzzbutts leave behind. Last week I caught a glimpse of the interloper after Shadow was yowling at the catflap, and today I got a good look at the catburglar. It is a young black cat, no obvious collar, so don’t know if it’s got a home or not. I will have to keep an eye on the situation as I might need to trap the cat, get it to the vet and have them check for a microchip in case the little ‘un is a stray in need of adoption. Not that I’m thinking of adopting an adorable little black cat…just sayin’…

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffientin’. YAWN 'Tis 59 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 83 for the day. Oh and we have a pollen alert. No joke!

BooFae sounds like a good time was had by all. Congrats on the new kitteh cause we all know that’s gonna happen.

StickyBuns appropriate/inappropriate appendages crossed re the interview and a job offer soonest.

Have I ever mentioned there’s a Marine Base here? I wonder if Marines get overly concerned with flyin’ sharks.

Spidey commestibles of the Mexican type tend to become combustibles.

gigity here’s a helpful link for the next time you happen to have a 'possum on hand.

Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas and alack, irk purtification must commence.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Aaargh,

Someone decided I needed a wakeup call, ninety minutes early. I am up, grrrr.

Stabby MaStabbykins.

This day will improve

Happy Thorsday all

Jim

**Jim **- I’m with you! A certain canine woke me around 3, and between trying to lick my face and rasslin’ with Taz, she didn’t calm down till nearly 5. Even then, I only got about an hour of rest. It’s gonna be a long day.

And it’s freekin’ 41° out there this morning!!! Seriously?? grrrrrrr Today, I will finish all the sorting and sign-making for my yard sale. I’ll post one sign down at the main road, and I’ll prep 2 others to go in the yard on Saturday morning. I’ve got to move the 3 lengths of chain from the back yard to the front. I’ve also got to bring the anchor up and figure out what to charge for it. And there’s a little more stuff in the shed to come out. I’ve also got to assemble some plastic shelves to display stuff that will be for sale. And I’ve got to move the red dinghy to the front yard and find something to prop up the inflatable dingy. And because of the rain promised for tomorrow, I can’t put anything out ahead of time. Well, maybe the plastic shelves will be OK…

I’d like to finish painting the shed trim and be done with that - then next week, I can get back to garden work. I don’t know - lots to do, no one to help.

**FCD **et al got to Duke around supper time. FIL has pre-op stuff today and the surgery is tomorrow. Then on Sat, they’ll either go back to Ocala (most likely) or come here for a few days. MIL has her surgery on Tues, so they definitely have to be back by then. I shall selfishly say that I’m glad I didn’t have to go along.

I should go to the gym. Still thinking about it, tho - I’ll be doing physical labor today, so I really don’t need the exercise. We shall see.

Anyway, Happy Thursday. I want a nap.

Uh-huh, yeah, right, sure. We will need pictures of the new family member, and I’m sure you can get some help naming him/her.

Condolences to my fellow insomniacs. I got NO sleep, and do have to work today (at least it’s only a 5-hour shift today). I predict collapse very soon after arriving home.

I’m up. Slept pretty good in this unfamiliar hotel bed.

Ya know I almost said that…

Awkward apologies are awkward. Co-irker did apologize in person, then later in the morning when we were having a small meeting with out him, he opened the door to the conference room, looked at who was there, then slammed the door and left. You would think an 60+ retired O-6 could handling himself better but apparently he has “anger issues” as he told nice co-irker as she chewed him out for being unprofessional. The goodness of all of this is Old Yeller Boss Lady was for once, actually happy with our attempt to respond to vauge tasking and did not yell. Whew.

I am packed and ready to depart irk to drive to Merryland this evening. Mr. Jynsters has dropped me off and we are leaving straight from my irk as soon as he picks me up. I always feel as though I have forgotten something…

Happy Thorsday!

Good morning all. Been kind of distracted this week. The wife’s lupus flared up again, and this time the result is shingles. She says it’s not like they say on the commercials at all - more of a constant sharp pain instead of the burning sensation. So we haven’t been getting a lot of sleep (just a couple hours at a time before the pain wakes her up). When I was a youngster on ships, getting three hours of sleep at a time was no big deal. But since I’m eligible for my very own AARP membership I’m finding that I really do need to have uninterrupted sleep every night to be a happy productive irker the next day.

I hope you are all doing well. I’ll try to catch up on the goings on in this week’s MMP.

No, I really don’t.

Ok,

Much better, have coffee and a bagel. Tis about time to go irk. Have a lot to do before gates open at noon tomorrow.

Well… It seems a Mumper haz a new kitteh. Pics soon?

Moooom you need a retirement assistant.

Jim

Got a call a bit ago from the guy who came to my pre-yardsale yesterday. He’s coming back this afternoon to buy the 3 lengths of chain we’re selling. That means I don’t have to move them out front, plus it’s another $150 - yay!

Once it warms up a bit more, I’m going to get out there and finish emptying the shed. I’ll need to rehome the various yard tools, and sort out the keepers from the trash. With luck, I’ll finish the paint on the trim this afternoon. But first, I’ll need to get dressed. While my green robe is comfy and in good repair, it’s really not appropriate for the work ahead of me. Alas…

I need
a catapult
several sharks
a few dozen sri lankan spiders
with pointy sticks
duct tape

and it’s not even 9 o’clock yet

Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays… on Thursday. Poor sari. :frowning:

I really need to get dressed. My robe isn’t floor length and my legs are cold. So I guess I’ll go find some garments that will be acceptable for public viewing. Even tho all I really want to do is snooze. Stoopit dog.

Yeah I wonder if there are some hiccups in the Craigslist mail server. The guy clearly thought it was new, and he obviously uses Craigslist regularly to get work.

3am phone call? Yeah, no. That doesn’t play.

I too vote on keeping the interloper as a new kitty. When they come to you then a large part of the integration issues are already taken care of. It’s like when we are asked to do ‘man on the street’ interviews: anyone who walks up to us (unless a true ass or drunk) will get interviewed. Volunteers are always accepted.

Way back in a day when it was decided to adopt a grown cat from the adoption center my method was to go sit down in the cat room and see who came to me. Pretty soon a big tabby came up and jumped in my lap, taking over. Initially I thought he was the one, but soon I realized he wouldn’t let any other cats come near (a problem because we already had a cat at home). However close by, interested, and dealing with the abuse of the tabby was another cat, who after another 20 minutes became Yoda and was taken home.

He and I were best buds until his death many years later.

I was going to sleep last night when I checked the security camera and found the possum. It chewed up another 90 minutes of my night before I could fall asleep. Running slow today.
