Live World Series Thread

Oh, okay, your logic is amazing.

FFFFFFFFFFF FINALLY. JESUS way to make that game a little too exciting at the end, you chumps.

There we go!

I was thinking going into the 9th that this just didn’t feel like a Giants game…there was a distinct lack of torture…so you can blame me for that last half inning.

I have discovered the secret to having the Giants win this series: I have to listen to the games on KNBR.

In the first few innings, I was catching the game on the internet at work. Things were looking bad for Timmy. As soon as I sat down in my truck, the radio crew helped the Giants tie it up. I continued listening on a portable radio while cooking up some stir-fry in the kitchen: run after run after run.

When I got back to the computer, the Rangers started scoring some late. I turned the radio back on for Brian Wilson’s work.

I might try some TV, but I’m staying away from MLB’s Gamechannel for now.

I miss Krukow and Kuiper…I wish it wasn’t such a pain to sync the Fox telecast with the radio broadcast…

Kruk & Kuip got some major props from the guys on Fox tonight…I believe they called them the best TV broadcast crew in Major League Baseball

No sweat. The Giants starting pitcher had 2 more hits than the Rangers ALCS MVP slugger (at least up until I had to quit watching). I’d say the Giants look like they can sweep this thing under the rug without much ado.

Could be worse, I guess. They could be the Cowboys.

We tried syncing them up, but it just didn’t work. Joe Buck and Tim McCarver are just AWFUL.

I don’t know that Kruk & Kuip are the best, but I definitely have a fondness for them that makes me a poor judge of that sort of thing. When I lived in Chicago, I developed a loathing for both the Cubs and White Sox guys, possibly because they just weren’t Kruk & Kuip.

I’ve reported my own post, but could a passing mod change the title of the thread to take off the “Game 1” portion? I’m assuming it would be better to keep everything in one place rather than starting multiple small threads. Sorry for the oversight and thanks in advance for the correction.

Well, that was disappointing in that Lee is capable of better and close games are more enjoyable for everyone all around. The Giants definately have a leg up now, what with the pitching matchups yet to come. I just hope everyone’s potential is realized, that they all play up to what they’re capable of. Given that, I’ll be satisfied with whatever outcome.

I must admit it is nice to actually like your opponent in a series of this magnitude. While I pull hard for the Rangers, I admire the Giants and don’t dislike anyone on their team. This was the match-up I’d hoped for so all is good.

Congrats, Giants, on a convincing Game 1 win.

Btw, who does the fella on the right remind you of?

Okay, that made me absolutely crack up.

Removed “Game 1” from title by OP request.

Thanks fluiddruid!

In response to an earlier post, I don’t know if this is the worst, but the Yankees beat the Pirates in Game 2 of th 1960 World Series 16-3. They also won Game3 10-0 and Game 6 12-0. They lost the series though.

Just to clarify, their opponents, the Giants, scored 4 runs, so in fact this was the biggest blowout in World Series history.

In this game the Phillies had a 3-run lead, blew it, and then came back and had a FIVE-run lead and blew that, too.

Shocked that Cliff Lee was so far off of his gold standard last night. It just goes to show you that baseball is a funny game. You can have the hottest hand in the world one game and if your curveball is just a little bit off in the next you aren’t going to last very long.

Dear CJ Wilson,

Let me know if you need some ~comforting~ after the Giants kick your ass.

<3,

me

He’s pretty, isn’t he?

He’s very pretty! Still hoping the Giants clobber him, obviously.

Does anybody know what’s with the what appear to be rope necklaces that most of the Rangers are wearing? Andres Torres has been wearing one all season, and I figured it was just a personal thing, but it seems that practically all of the Rangers have them. Am I missing the latest fashion trend, thus proving that I’m now officially old?

Did he just say “Gee-ar-deli Square”?

I wasn’t paying attention (is anything Joe Buck or Tim McCarver say worth listening to?), but I’ve actually had people correct me when I pronounce Ghirardelli with the hard g. I’m like, stfu, don’t even talk to me.
