Long Road Trips in the MMP

{{Metal Mouse and Bro}}

South of us is getting beat up by a huge snow storm… and we’ve got the cold air behind it. But no freaking snow. They have a foot of snow 7 hours south of here. I have about 1-2 inches. If it’s going to be cold, at least give me some freaking snow!

Meetings pretty much all day. Peace out.

I’ll mark that one in my atlas; actually just did. It strikes me a lot like BikeTown up near Austintown Ohio – they even have their own bar inside. I stop there a lot but haven’t spent much there; mostly a place to stretch the legs and hit the john. I did help them with a couple issues they had with a customers shovelhead once.

The hidden cost of every class. At least its better than the old days ---- one class I took the textbook was limited to three remaining copies in the library and they couldn’t be checked out. In those days before eBay and the internet the class should have come with a warning label.

Daughter and SIL have gone down to the college to see what their books will cost this semester so they can look on line and see if they’ll be cheaper. **FCD **has just gone in to nap. RoxStar is napping. I figure as soon as I sit down to knit, she’ll wake up.

We had a nice breakfast after dropping off some samples to be anodized. **FCD **just finished some bids on a couple of projects - if they’re both accepted, he’ll be mega-busy and he stands to make some good money. Fingers crossed.

The sun is shining, the snow in melting, and I think I shall try to do a little afghaning.

Blurfage It took over three hours of trying before the payroll system would load but it’s done now. Come on 5 PM. I am ready for three day weekend.

Hope Brother is OK Metal Mouse.

Happy Long Weekend All!

Skool was OK today, we have a new lecturer, which is nice 'cos though I do like the person who was doing the module before, having one person teaching three out of the 6 modules could get a bit confusing.

We actually have no textbooks for any of my classes. There’s a ‘suggested reading’ list, all of which is available in the liberry, but none required. One of the ways kolej (the Malay spelling) is different here- we also have a fully planned course, no electives, no 15th century French Literature module.

Anyway, stop procrastinating, me.

Almost time to leave for irk and tomorrow is SNOW SNOW SNOW which really doesn’t bother me at all so I’ll just enjoy my day off.

The snowpocalypse has begun. Up to 8 inches predicted with blowing and drifting, the Sunday into the low teens for a high. I plan to stay in tomorrow and start after Christmas cleaning. And yes, my tree is still up.

I just popped a hunk of beef in the rotisserie. Eventually, I’ll need to select the sides.

**FCD **has been working up bids on a couple of projects which could mean major $$$ in the next few months. Fingers crossed.

No snow in our future, but lots of rain promised for tomorrow. Dammit. Add that to the melting snow, and our yard is a bog!!!

:dubious:

What does it mean, “select the sides”?
That makes me wish I were doing real engineering instead of taking care of networked PCs.

Pick a team to eat, entree or veggies, like…succotash.
Unless there’s a vastly changed forecast when I look later this evening, I’m not going to play with thunderstick this weekend. Hope they postpone it 'til next weekend as they’re expecting 12-16" overnight Sat & we’re expecting freezing rain & sleet. :frowning:

Books got ordered, with minimal cussing.
Nappage achieved, no cussing needed.

I got a text from the community college my son used to go to saying they will close early tomorrow and all day Sunday. I suppose I should figure out how to remove myself from their system except that they are the best indicator of what is to be expected.

Left over cabbage soup for lunch today, and dinner, and probably lunch and dinner tomorrow. It’s the first time I ever used purple cabbage to make the soup and it’s a bit weird to eat purple soup. Everything but the meat turned purple.

Choose side dishes for supper - in this case, broccoli, cabbage, onions-n-mushrooms, and instant N.O.T.s. The broc and cabbage were small amounts that I needed to get out of the fridge. It was all yum!

Juliet, family in northern Indiana are getting the big snow that you’re talking about. LilBro went down and shoveled Dad’s walk for him. Dad served up the traditional offering for the person who shovels the walk: a shot of bourbon. This got started when I was a kid and the old man next door would shovel our walk when he shoveled his own. Dad worked third shift at the time and would usually just be getting home about the time Mr. Ring would finish. Dad would invite him in for a shot, something that our neighbor’s wife wouldn’t allow in their home. I think the old man timed it that way on purpose.

I just bought a head of cabbage this afternoon. I’m making sweet potato-black bean enchiladas this weekend and figured cilantro lime cole slaw to go with. I’m trying out making the salsa verde from scratch this time. I figure that I’ll have more control over the salt and heat that way.

Please pass me the sweet potato-black bean enchiladas. If there’s some extra salsa verde that wasn’t baked on the enchiladas, you can pass that here, too.

Next time, bring recipe.

Thank you.

Screw that, pass me the bourbon.

They did, so in a very, very rare case; groceries have been provisioned…& all put away. Car is in the garage. I may do a local race tomorrer moaning…or not & just go for an easy run on my own. Iffn not, the car may not see daylight again until Tootsday. I has enough food, & beer, & Irish Toast provisions & stuff to bake so Is be a homebody; hopefully do lots of editing & cleaning.

Hi everybody! Worked, Canes lost. Badly.:( Gonna get real cold Sunday(single didget windchill cold)

If you go to a cafeteria, you get your “meat and three(sides)”

Da Jungle is actually closing operations for this one. Not because of any concern for us of course; its because they expect a lack of work from the OTR drivers finding alternative routes or just not trying. And this way they get to cheat us out of our hours yet again. I don’t care; I don’t work weekends. But I feel sorry for the folks who gave up all their weekends to get hired just to have this pulled on them. Oh well — I guess that is one of the reasons our “no vacancy” light has never been lit.
