Long time in the MMP

Evenin’ all! Good news about the sister, Cupcakes!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes- and it was on Saturday, so you weren’t late Juliet, everyone else was early (or almost everyone, depending on how you look at it with the time zones)

Was a fun weekend, but involved too much driving, and I was completely uncontactable- no internet, no phone signal. It wasn’t all that remote, there were several pubs in walking distance- a theory I tested- but it’s very hilly. I went straight to the irk placement, and only got back an hour ago. The placement’s still going well, but I’m looking forward to having a day off off. It’s now 15 days since I had a day that wasn’t all filled with stuff. Some nice stuff, but still… I need to catch up on housework and things. Only 5 more days 'til I get time.

Every time I see JW I think Jehovah’s Witness…

As for your attraction to geeky men, I learned long ago that we all find different things attractive. I remember when a girlfriend and I were people watching, and she commented on the hotness of a guy walking by. I just didn’t see it. But I guess it’s a good thing we’re attracted by different things, or a very small minority of attractive people would be besieged!

Ham steak for supper. That’s as far as planning has gone.

Probably okay.

He wants me to read through the stuff and help him decide where to reply. He bounces ideas off of me until he finds one he likes and takes it from there.
It’s a pain though, because of the proliferic one, and there are several that, even though this is a 300 level class, write as though they are still in middle school. It’s hard to reply to somebody who can’t write a cohesive, coherant paragraph.
Some people write so much there is nothing to add, some are so convoluted you don’t know where to start.
Then after he writes it, I will proofread it for him.

I think that bouncing ideas off of me, and my proofreading his stuff is fair.
He’d probably be doing the same with his friends/classmates if he was on campus.

I was ready to beat him over the head though, he kept spelling counselor as consoler.

Shady, I get off early because I work a split day.
We are independent contractors, so we choose our own hours. Mostly everybody wants to work the daytime 9-5 type hours, but the company needs coverage 24/7. One, we are in competition with each other for the calls. We get paid for the calls we take, not the hours we work. It is better to work when there is not so much competition. Two, every now and then we will get an email from the company saying they need coverage for such and such hours, and while they realize that we are independent contractors and can choose our own hours, if they don’t receive the coverage, they will hire more contractors. Then we have even more competition for the available work.
Therefore, I work in the morning, and again in the evening.

What I should do is log in as soon as I get up in the morning and stay logged in all day, with a hour or so off for taking a shower and eating, but I get grumpy being chained to the phone all day.
I’ll sit for a half hour with no calls, and as soon as I get up to do something the phone starts ringing.
Very annoying.

I slept all afternoon, so nothing got done.
I need to start dinner for my son. I’ll be having leftovers, pork roast and cabbage.
We still haven’t gotten groceries, I think we’ll go Thorsday.
I don’t know, I don’t want to go at all.
I don’t want to do anything. I get this way when I am stressed.

I was being facetious.

I know

but I ramble anyway

I’m tired

I am happy to give you a path to ramble.

**sari **- I used to proofread FCD’s work (heck, I still do) because he’s a lousy speller and sometimes he’s not as clear as he could be. When it’s technical stuff, I try to point out what could be expressed better. He also tends to overuse certain words, and I catch that for him.

When he was in college, one of his professors accused him of having me write his assignments (the prof knew I taught there.) **FCD **blew up over that. I don’t blame him. He may not spell well, but he usually expressed himself very well in writing.

Well, Roxy is about to go to bed. We’re threatened with up to 4" of the evil white stuff on Weds. But there’s a big ol’ yellow piece of equipment in the back yard - the excavator will start tomorrow, then probably not be able to work again till Firday. But he’ll start, so yay! Pics in FB for those who care.

Yay baker Sis!

May you have a safe trip metal mouse.

The thing that I’ve done the longest that I still do is probable riding. I got my first motorcycle at 13 and have been riding since (y’all do the math :stuck_out_tongue: ). I’ve been doing embroidery on and off since childhood and papercraft for the last 20 years.

Howdy Y’all! Home from men’s night over to the church house. We had a good crowd tonight and as always, ‘twas fun. We solve all the problems of the world. The next step is gettin’ somebody to listen to us. Tonight we had a beer from here, the Skywater to be exact. It is marketed as a beer for the commoner. That appealed to me so that’s why I chose that beer. EYP, OYKW and I toasted ourselves with, “Here’s to us the commonest of all commoners!” A good time was had by all.

& I’m a lover, not a fighter. In fact I was in the ring today. Errr, not fighting, but photoing, at the famous Blue Horizon.

It’s a good thing today was an optional irk day because I came home & took a nap afterwards. I figure it was about 800 miles in a car in 52 hrs of this weekend, plus two races, plus some ‘ice’-seeing; some big, winter-frozenish waterfalls.
Glad Cookies (Cupcakes sister ;)) is home.
As for [del]the[/del] my OP, there’s lotsa things I’ve done for a long time. Some I can tells ya about & some, well, iffn I tells ya, I’d have to kill ya. (PMs those to Flytrap)

Worked ,laundered. Made Tex-Mex mac n’ cheese for dinner.

Yay baker sis!

I had Chinese lessons this morning. Chinese is hard! Japanese was much easier. About the only thing I have going for me is that I know many of the characters.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 56 Amurrkin out and rainy with a predicted high of 57 and cloudy for the day. We also have a pollen alert. I do not need to be alerted about pollen. I am very aware. Today I shall accomplish laundry as well as stuff over to the church house. I must needs go to Sam’s and Home Despot for a couple of items needed. Fortunately both are located right next to each other. Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

TB this is the Chinese course you found online, right? I am curious to know how an online language course would work. Will you at some point need to do some course work in a for real classroom?

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, I must purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Why must life be so difficult!

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

Howdy. Tis Moanday on a Tuesday. Awake but not up but I gotta get up and get ready for irk. Have a great day all.

In the office, because a certain daughter of mine had a brain fart. I need to be off on Thursday, not today.

We’re threatened with 2-4" of snow tomorrow, followed by much rain. It’ll be interesting to see what happens with this excavation in the yard. I expect today the trees will come down and some earth-moving will happen. I also know much dirt will need to be brought in. The coming days will be interesting.

Happy Tuesday!

Happy Toosday!

It’s cold but N.O.S. outside.
Supposed to get snow later today.
Oh Joy!

Lots to do today since I slept much of yesterday.

We are having record breaking warmth for Feb. It was 84 F yesterday.

At irk having my first cup of joe. Have a happy day all!

Does FedEx ship snowballs?
Was up & out early for a special hardhat sunrise, from the roof of a 18 story building under construction.

It’s not like the coconut’s gonna melt or anything…

And I think SDMB has already discussed the logistics of snow shipping

Honestly, I’d love to ship off some of my snow. I can’t see over the snowbanks at the end of the driveway when I’m backing out. I have to wait up by the house to see the traffic coming, then gun it out into the street when I have a clearing. Not the safest method…

**Juliet **- you’ve got kids, don’t you? Make them earn their keep - have them check for traffic!

Very busy morning - back to it!!!
