Looking towards spring in the MMP

The dishes are washed (still need to be put away).

I checked for leaks under the house. The plywood panel over the crawl space was screwed on. I put the Phillips head bit on the ol’ Milwaukee drill and… striiiiip. I tried a square bit. No joy. Turns out they’re Torx screws. Fortunately, I have one of these. I replaced the screws with quarter-inch socket-head screws to make it easier next time. I took a divot out of the plywood getting one of the screws out, so I had to paint that.

I just hope he doesn’t get too smashed while grooming himself. Poor kitty liver.

When we sold the house we learned that a condition of sale (at least in OR) is that all detectors have to be less than ten years old, and all bedroom detectors now have to be a combination smoke and CO detector. Another expense to look forward to.

I cleaned, I napped. I made a can o’ soup(Chunky Chicken Tortilla" for lunch.

Although this year they are playing* flag football, so it looks like po folk playing.

And how. {{{{*Oopsie}}}}

Edit( * )-typing “flaying football”, but that only happens if you stiff your Mob bookie.

No worries! GG is the easiest cat ever when it comes to water baths. My method is to cover the bathroom floor with towels, put a squirt of kitty shampoo in the tub and then start filling the tub with warm water. I then open the bathroom door and let him have at it. When I think he’s getting cold, I’ll rinse him off with warm water, towel him off and bundle him up and hand him over to hubs while I’m mopping up his splash zone.

He’s still a little damp, but not wet and his fur is starting to fluff again. He’s probably going to nap the afternoon away, he had a fun filled morning with much physical activity.

Howdy Y’all! We deheathenated and then et much chili and other stuff. Our chili somehow came in third out of seven entries. So, yay, I guess. The search committee meetin’ part of it went well. Lots of good questions asked and some really good dialogue. We got back to da cave and achieved nappage. I have also already hauled the biiiiiiiiiiiiiig trash can all the way down to the road for pickup tomorrow and have the poke tenderloin all prepped for tomorrow’s sup. It shall hang out in the slow cooker most of tomorrow and should be tender and yum.

JtC HEE! GG likes beer! I am glad he’s all clean and happy after his adventure. He deserves a long afternoon nap after all that.

Oopsie so sorry about your friend’s husband. Depression does indeed suck. I know of which I speak. So glad mine is pretty much under control.

Hippie innerestin’ stuff about smoke detectors. Thanks for sharin’ the tutorial.

doggio do they welcome sin at the po bowl?

He’s gone… a little over an hour ago. God Bless all ya’ll… seriously. I appreciate your love more than you can possibly know (((((((Mumpers)))))))

I didn’t gp tp church today but I think next Sunday I will be up to it. I’ve started PT and my sister will drive me.

I agree with you re depression oopsie. Hugs.

JtC, I giggled at GG’s escapade. He would make a good pub cat for the Old Dun Cow .

{{{pearl}}} I’m so sorry.

Best of wishes on your PT baker.

I got the Valentines mailed today and then took Nelson to the dog park on the way home. It was a Low Rider Crew reunion of sorts, as his buddy Watson (red, long haired dachshund) was in town for the day and there. His buds Jersey (dachshund / pug), Jack (chiweenie), Chip (black and tan dachshund), Bentley (corgi), Ollie (5# Benji-type terrier mix) and Elvis (mini Basset hound) had a blast running around. They don’t often get to see each other all at once anymore, since some have moved to different neighborhoods and a couple of condo complexes have built their own dog parks, so we stayed for a couple of hours.

Linner was the chicken - sweet potato soup from the crock pot. It was delish.

So sorry, Pearl.

I’m glad about that, too!

I scrolled back through the thread to find the context for this: so young! I’m so sorry. :people_hugging:

May his memory be eternal.

Weekend winding down. We got supper to go and ate in our room. When we check out tomorrow, we’ll go to Denny’s for breakfast, then head home.

SIL will take Higgs home in the morning and we should get there about lunch time. It’s been a nice weekend. Maybe we can do something similar in May or June, but not at the beach. We shall see…

{{{pearl and family}}}

Heck, it’s in Sin City. Drop a “G” on roulette.

{{{Pearl}}} I am so sorry for your loss. Your nephew, his parents, you, and the rest of the family are in my prayers.

doggio Lost Wages sounds like the perfect place for a Po Bowl to welcome sin.

You and doggio have some of the funnest music links, thanks for posting it!

I think one of our problems with George is that when we look at him, we think grown up cat and he really isn’t. He’s not even two yet and Maine Coons don’t fully mature until they are around three or so.

Plus, he’s been pampered like the baby of a large family. I’ve known so many fourth children who talk late because they have big sibs to talk for them. GG doesn’t need to smart because all he has to do is indicate that he wants something and his whim becomes reality.

This is probably a good thing, wouldn’t want his two brain cells to wear out from overuse. He might not ever get doors, but he has never once missed the litter box or shown interest in going out the people doors. And he’s handsome and cuddly…what else do we need out of a cat?

Your dog park time sounds like a hoot, I’m glad it was warm enough to enjoy yourselves.

We’ve put the shelves and the fermenters* back using a discussed plan instead of our usual “that should fit over here” method and it seems to be working much better. Hubs is also sorting his stuff out because he has outgrown bunches of buckets, vats and filters, so plans to try to sell it to beer noobs on his beer making forums. Plan B does not include keeping it, so at least half of his big stuff won’t go back on the shelves.

My stuff will still fill “my” shelves because I still use everything I started with, just not all the time. I didn’t see anything I haven’t used in the last year, so after it comes out of the dishwasher, back on the shelves it goes.

While I hope nothing like this happens ever again (picture one of those Bounty commercials where something spills and everyone is yelling NOOOOO), it was probably a good thing because we will be much happier with the room after the clean up is over.

I’ve been seeing a new flock at the birdbaths for the last couple of days and finally figured out that I am seeing a flock of Cedar Waxwings. I asked on Nextdoor and they are a normal winter visitor, so that is just another bird I haven’t seen before.

Of course, it takes a while to build up a good rep with traveling birds which could by why I haven’t seen them before. Or, I might just be super unobservant and they have been here every winter cause that is possible too.

*dorm sized fridges that have been modified to have temps high enough to allow fermentation as well as to hold a 5-gallon fermenting vat. MacGyver has nothing on Hubs when it comes to making beer.
