Lost 1.15: "Homecoming"

Sorry if this has been brought up already; didn’t go back through every post here…

A major cast member (not Steve/Scott) is supposed to die by the end of the first season. Anybody want to do a mini death pool on it? (Assuming that I heard/read this correctly) ?

My money is on Shannon.

I’m thinking (not hoping) that they’re setting up Charlie to do something stupid for redemption, trying to save Claire.
I’d like Boone to vanish. I’d say all the major castaways (yes including Shannon) have depth and interesting things to add. Boone doesn’t, he just wants to bone his sister.

Could this happen in a non-episode related thread? We’ve set up a pretty careful system to avoid spoilers, and I’d hate for this type of thread to give away anything someone didn’t want to know.

LOST Dead Pool and other speculations -SPOILERS-

I was thinking about the Island and granting or fulfilling wishes / desires. I think that’s close but I’m speculating in another direction. The island is not giving people what they want, but what they need:

  1. Jack needed to get over his father issues.
  2. Michael needed to become the father he always longed to be.
  3. Locke is unclear (maybe).
  4. Charlie needed to feel useful.
  5. Shannon needs to find a purpose.
  6. Boone needed to get over his fixation about Shannon.
  7. Walt is unclear.
  8. Sayid needs redemption.
  9. Kate needs redemption.
  10. Sawyer is unclear.
  11. Hurley is unclear.
  12. Jin needs to start loving and caring for his wife again.
  13. Sun needs to start trusting her husband again.
  14. Claire needs to find trust in men again.

It’s as if the Island is getting the castaways on a trajectory that their destinies should take them. And there is a very big gap between granting people what they want and what they need. The reason I put Locke as unclear is that it looks as if the Island is granting him the wish of a walkabout in the wilderness, but I haven’t figured out what he needs. Walt is unclear too, unless it’s as simple as him needing to get back on track with his real dad. Sawyer and Hurley - we haven’t seen their flashbacks yet.

If you like B5 you should check out Battlestar Galactica. I think that there are some writing style simularities

We’ve seen Sawyer’s. Con man with a heart of gold, remember?

Speculation on the next episode, based on ABC’s description:

[spoiler] Kate and Sawyer divulge dark secrets to each other while tracking a renegade boar that Sawyer swears is purposely harassing him. Meanwhile, Hurley and Sayid worry that Charlie is losing it after his brush with death, and a shocking, prior connection between Sawyer and Jack is revealed.

The “shocking revelation,” I predict, will be:

The fact that Sawyer was the one who got into the bar fight with Jack’s dad, possibly contributing to his death somehow.

:smack: I’m an idiot. Oh, well, no harm done with my bad coding.

Maybe, or maybe it’s just extremely sleepy:

All I gotta say on this issue is that if Jin buys the farm, I stop watching the show. I really want to see Michael and Jin fight over Sun, and some major butt-kicking to happen. I’m not too blood thirsty, am I?

By the way, I was only kidding when I said I’d stop watching the show. Besides, death really isn’t an impediment to appearing on this show, is it?

Beautifully put, and, need I add, I agree?
