Thanks.
You know, it occurs to me, whether or not I’m right about the TCM/Black Smoke being a magnet, a super-magnet would be a good way to destroy a plane in mid air, and then deposit its wreckage relatively safely at two points on the island.
Thanks.

First, that’s a hell of a conspiracy.
Anyways, one huge thing you’re missing is the magical effect of Hurley’s numbers. His chicken joint was destroyed by a meteor!

I recently found an interesting naturally occurring theory found in our world that states everyone has a mirror image somewhere in the world. You may have heard of this. Its called Rousseau’s genetic mirror theory, and I must say it is very interesting. [ DELETED BY MODERATOR ]

HOLY SHIT. That might be the key.
Quick, a link that other message board!
Very interesting Phungi
… except Amazon.com doesn’t seem to have a book by a Marseille Rousseau written in 1988. I just checked.
Actually it was a metorite! Ha! I loved that line from Hurley.
THis crossed my mind too, but then I didn’t watch closely enough (thinking it was flashback) to decide if it was fresh fruit or like maraschino (spelling mangled) cherries.

Marseille Rousseau genetic twin theory doesn’t give me relevent cites, either.
So: is this dialogue or text leaked from the show or something?
Ah, well, that’s where the “hand of God” I talked about earlier comes into it. Someone wants Hurley to be on that island. Mark my words, Hurley is going to somehow prove vital at some critical juncture. He’s the Sam Gamgee of the island.
That, and autorial misdirection.
So the show is based on the writings of the French equivalent of the TimeCube guy. Somehow I think this is something that would have been discovered before now, if it were true.
So if there’s a supermagnet dragging Locke through the jungle and the black smoke is a cloud of metal flecks/side effect…how is a magnet dragging Locke? Is he the only one in the group with a big-ass metal plate in his head?
Because if he’d been getting dragged along by his forehead that would have been fun-ny.

Could you be more specific about that link? Lostlinks.net is nothing but more links. Which one contains the audio you mention?
Was Sarah Jack’s 5-4-3-2-1 fear patient from the pilot?
i was so excited that it never occurred to me to check the source… tried a bunch of searches on the numbers and the name and came up blank… sorry if it was a red herring…
We weren’t the only ones. Fortunately that means our speculation has a little more mystery to it.
There’s no mention of “Marseille Rousseau” on Google or yahoo regarding this theory. There are a number of French pages that have nothing to do with this theory but mention the name.
Howeve in my search I found something I had compleletly forgotten but I’m sure has been mentioned here before. I can’t search, my apologies. Locke and Jean-Jacques Rousseau were both ethicists. I remembered Locke but forgot about Rousseau. Both were very much conerned with social interaction.
From wikipedia here’s a summary of Rousseau’s social contract theory:
In order to live in society, human beings agree to an implicit social contract, which gives them certain rights in return for giving up certain freedoms they would have in a state of nature. Thus, the rights (and responsibilities) of individuals are the terms of the social contract, and the state is the entity created for the purpose of enforcing that contract. Also, the people may change the terms of the contract if they so desire; rights and responsibilities are not fixed or “natural”. However, more rights always entail more responsibilities, and fewer responsibilities always entail fewer rights.
Yeah, her counting technique to manage fear Jack taught her. I thought it was a nice nod to the first season opener.
The Marseille Rousseau thing is interesting but don’t you think that guy would have stuff, or people would talk about him online? Google turns up nothing on it or his theory. I think it’s false…
No, he said that patient was a teenage girl.
