Yes they do!
The “rope” turns out to be a folded cloth which stands for s. The “penguin” might be a quail which stands for w. The “rocket” could be alot of things, and I haven’t found the arrow yet.
I’m almost positive that was Kate’s “dad” in the truck. As in, the guy who raised her, not her biological dad. However, the first Iraq war was 15 years ago - in the photo Kate didn’t look that young. She would have been, like, seven right?
First I thought the red symbols were the different Dharma symbols, but obviously they’re not. Maybe they are related to the other Dharma stations, though. Hey, do you think that the countdown happens at the same time in all of the Dharma stations, so they all have to push the button at approximately the same time?
I guess the hawk is the god Horus in animal form. He is a sun god, the one who avenged his father Osirius’ dismemberment by the evil Set. He’s a protector of the land of the living, which makes sense if it’s popping up as a warning.
Basically Sayid said that he knew the guy was one of the Others because he felt no guilt over torturing him, and said that Locke and Jack had forgotten. Charlie asked, “Forgotten what?” and Sayid said that they had forgotten that you (Charlie) had been strung up and left to die hanging from a tree and that Claire had been kidnapped.
Which leads us nicely into next week’s preview, which is Claire related, as she asks for help from Hurley’s psychologist friend to help her remember what happened to her when she was kidnapped, then goes tracking through the jungle with Kate and someone else to where she had been taken
The guy with the beard wasn’t a soldier - I was assuming he was a CIA dude or something. He was played by Clancy Brown, the guy from the Shawshank Redemption. I was referring to the Army guy that was looking at the photo and asked Sayyid if he had a wife and kids. I’m not sure if it was the same guy that brought him into the interrogation room initially. The girl in the photo looked like Kate.
Man, everyone wants Charlie to do their dirty work, don’t they?
“Dance for me, junky! Sing You All Everbody! HAHAHAH!”
And I think that was just a bit much on the Sawyer wants everyone to hate him front.
But yeah, hieroglyphics. Wild. Maybe a mummy comes out if it really gets to zero.
“Hello, My name is Sayid. I tortured your father. Prepare to cry.”
I think the smirky look the guy gave Sayid when Jack rescued him was a clue. He also looked too interested in Sayid’s story when he guessed that Sayid had lost someone on the island, like he was doing the interviewing.
“Hello, My name is Sayid. I tortured your father. Prepare to cry.”
Yep, Sawyer went down a few notches for squishing the frog. I hope it peed on him.
“Hello, My name is Sayid. I tortured your father. Prepare to cry.”
Interesting that Sayid sought out Charlie to talk to. I don’t think of Sayid as being manipulative like some of the others but I can’t help but wonder what he’s up to there.
“Hello, My name is Sayid. I tortured your father. Prepare to cry.”
Well, the writer’s answered another question for us, “why hasn’t Hurley lost any weight?”. Ranch dressing and peanut butter.
“Hello, My name is Sayid. I tortured your father. Prepare to cry.”
So what were those symbols?! I can’t wait for someone else to figure it out so I don’t have to think about it.
“Hello, My name is Sayid. I tor…” Stop saying that!
Hey, how about those previews for next week? The girls go on a little adventure.
Yay for February sweeps!
OK, I’m pretty certain the guy with the photo of Kate was her biological dad, but not the one that raised her. She was raised under the pretense that the man that lived with she and her mother was her biological father, but she discovered for herself that that wasn’t true, right? Her real father was working at an Army recruitment center in that episode, which would likely make him the same guy in the back of the transport.
That’s backwards. She was raised believing that the soldier was her biological father. When she found out that the drunken abuser was her biological father she killed him, and gave that as the reason she did it.
So are we to infer that Hurley did NOT bring out all the food from the hatch for the feast, and held some back for his own enjoyment?* Jeez, between Hurley hiding food and Charlie hiding statues, someone’s going to break a toe on a jar of peanut butter or a Virgin Mary.
*I heard somewhere that the actor who plays Hurley flat out told the writers he wasn’t going to lose weight, so they better figure out a way that he stays big.
There was a similarity in the look of Ethan, Goodwin, and Arrow Balloonman. Didn’t they all have this sort of slightly cross-eyed, blank weirdness to their stares? All three of the actors had a similar facial structure, with close together eyes over a long nose, with an expression that seemed strangely flat to me. Anyone else notice this? We only see it when they reveal themselves as Others, though, as if their true selves are shining through and they’re not quite normal.
I stand corrected. I forgot that was her motive for killing him. As for Kate’s age in the photo, she’s surely older than 22 at this point, right? Were there any references in past episodes to Kate’s age?
So, let’s recap what we’ve learned this week.
Sayid’s a torturer. We knew that.
Sawyer’s a dick. We knew that.
Hurely’s fat. We knew that.
Jack and John have issues. We knew that.
Rousseau is crazy. We knew that.
Kate’s “father” is a soldier. We knew that.
Okay, a lot of stuff we already knew. What new information did we get?
There’s a new guy who might be an Other. Or he might not be.
If you let the clock run past its time, it shows you symbols that might mean something.
Next week? I think not. The previews said upcoming episodes of Lost - so it looks like we’re in for another spell of reruns.
hee hee… nobody much cared that he took all the guns… you’ll note he didn’t even bother to bring it with him on his little hunting expedition. Maybe he took the ammo… or it only ever had three bullets, which he fired before his little speech.
He looks like he’s actually bigger. I wish he would lose some weight just for the sake of his own health.
Something else just popped into my head, who’s taking care of Vincent these days?
What?! But this is February, a sweeps month, we are supposed to have lots of new exciting episodes.
Arrow Balloonman? Love it!
I agree. I felt right away that he was a Goodwin Other (as opposed to a BB Other) because he looked like one.
Sawyer is now the TFCM!
In all seriousness, I think they are seriously messing with us due to Sawyer’s popularity with viewers. It’s like “let’s see how much he can do and people will still like him.” One second he apologizes to Hurley (when has he ever done that?!) and the next he smooshes Kermit. Please, stop torturing us Sawyer apologists!
So was the soldier at the recruitment center earlier this season the same actor as the one with the photo in the back of the transport?
Epguides says that Maternity Leave will air on March 1st.
