I was under the impression that the whole army idea never really got off the ground. You mentioned the three most likely cantidates (Kate & Eko being up there as well) and without any of those folks, well, you got a pretty lame army. Unless the “army” is really just a posse so that Jack can assert his will on the Lost-aways…shakes fist at Jack
I’m beginning to think that before too long Jack is going to start rolling steel balls in his fingers and counting the strawberries in the hatch pantry. Sayid and ocke are going to be the ones in control before Jack finally snaps.
Now I’m wondering if the “incident” that was referenced in the film is something that occurred to the Others, turning them into what they are. And that they are interested in whether the same will happen to the castaways as well.
… finds Sun, Sun gets quasi-grabbed…
I’d steer clear of that dog. He’s bad news, without Walt’s luck to balance him out.
What are non-metallic metals? That’s what Henry Gale says he mined.
I loved it. It was a perfect “whimsical” contrast to a torture plotline.
Here are some…

I believe I also saw a Google link for some sort of conference for people who mine this stuff, too.
Non-metallic minerals is what I heard. Talc, quartz, calcite…wow, how about that, first hit from Google is very helpful.
Not sure what the significance of that in the big picture is…odd choice for it to be nothing…maybe Dharma was involved in the asbestos removal business…the button merely is keeping a lid on an asbestos landfill.
Sorry for the off the cuff descriptions, I had about 1.2 seconds to pause before my roommate was screaming at me to press play.
Baraqiyal’s link exactly matched the images shown, and it makes sense in context. It really doesn’t reveal that much anyways. Desmond could have told us that letting the timer run out was “cause to die”. Speaking of which, is anyone else wondering what he’s up to, where he is, what else he knows?
Not-metallic minerals does make a lot more sense. If someone had said non-metallic metals to me, I might have gotten out my pliers.
Count me among the wonderers. Maybe he & Michael are having a tea party out in the woods.
I heard “non-metallic metals” too. Such things do exist…according to Google anyway. Hafta listen again tonight.
How would non-metallic metals be affected by the huge electromagnet that the Losties now live with?
They sure looked like Egyptian hierogliphics to me, but I haven’t done an HD freeze-frame yet. I figure one the folks over at tailsection.com will have it all figure out this AM.
Great, great episode. I don’t believe Balloon-Man for a second. He did look awfully smug at the end.
Who was the girl in the photo? I thought it looked like Kate. And I’m sure there will be ramifications for killing Kermit.
Next week: The Medicine Hatch!!
here’s my list of possibilities for not pressing the button:
-
launches a doomsday device that wipes the planet clean.
-
activates an island-destroying weapon of some sort.
-
initiates some sort of communication device that calls Opal to say hello.
Any others?
Folks, he most definitely said “non-metallic minerals.”
March, actually.
Fires up the auto-kitchen, which whips up a lovely Denver omelette.
Releases the Gilligan Clone Army?
I thought I heard “non-metallic metals”, said “WTF?” replayed it with closed captioning and it said “non-metallic minerals”
I didn’t even notice. Is it just a one week delay, or longer?
