Lost 2.23: "Live Together, Die Alone" [Season Finale] Open Spoilers

Well, now we know what took Oceanic Flight 815 down.

He is Super Electro-Magnetic Man!!!

System failure - metal flies towards the magnet. Desmond thinks he brought down the plane.

But… he was trying to enter numbers and hitting execute with no effect. I think it’s set up to shake and freak out for a set period of time and then reset itself.

Maybe he didn’t die. Des certainly didn’t linger at the scene, and we’ve seen Locke and Rose overcome significant illnesses. I’m guessing the whole magnet deally is part of the rejuvination experiment.

Yep – I bet Pseudo-Henry is the frickin leader. The “HIM” people keep talking about.

If Pseudo-Gale is Him, then who was he so afraid of?
I love the reversal here. Locke as the man of reason, while men of faith are trying to talk him out of it.

I think he was faking that.

We’re at Defcon Penguin! So who thinks another plane will be crashing soon? We could get a whole new batch of survivors.

If this is a mindfuck… it’s a big one.

So, I’m left wondering…what was the point of the beard in the first place?

So… if the System Failure was allowed to continue to its conclusion, what would have happened? Obviously bad things for the island, but “Saving the World” seems to indicate wider-reaching effects.

And was that failsafe supposed to blow up the whole hatch? If so, what about Locke, Charlie, and Eko? Clearly the insinuation was that Desmond was sacrificing himself. But was that supposed to blow up the hatch, or some other portion of where the supermagnet accelerator was, or something?

So is this where MIB go to retire?

(Names were Jay and Bea, right?)

How is Michael supposed to follow a compass bearing when the whole island probably got a mondo-dose of EMP?

If you have enough money, you can find anyone.

I’m let down.

I mean, some cool stuff, but no big “WTF” moment.

The real question is how Desmond’s girlfriend knows to pay people to look for Electromagnetic abnomalies.

What happened to Locke, Desmond, and Eko?

I was really waiting for something huge. I never came.

Well…yes, but how on Earth would she know to look for large EMP disturbances? Methinks her father is (was?) a bigwig in the Hanso Foundation.

And Charlie managed to get away, but what about Locke, Eko, and Desmond?

Speculation based on The Lost Experience:
Her last name is Widmore. Widmore Industries has numerous connections to Alvar Hanso and the Hanso Foundation.

I’m thinking The Lost Experience is going to be more closely associated with the show than The Beast was with A.I.: Artificial Intelligence.

Anyone else been following the game? I haven’t tried to actually solve anything, but I follow the folks playing it on Unforums.
Ok, I haven’t read the whole thread…or any of it for that matter…since we just got through watching the show, but I think She Carnage and I found an Easter egg that most people wouldn’t have gotten. If so, it’ll be a first for me on these threads

When Desmond grabbed Ecko’s Jesus stick and went storming across the computer room, I laughed to She, “Heh, he looks like Jesus!”

“I think it is!” she said.

At my church we did a series about the Gospel of John and every week they’d show a trailer of a video about the book of John. It was only about thirty seconds but you got to see a lot of highlights of Jesus stuff. Sure enough, it was Desmond!

So, was Desmond and the Jesus Stick (Children’s Book!) a wink to his Gospel of John work. I have to think so!

I’m pretty sure the “bright light loud noise” and random Russians looking for large EMPs on the behalf of Ms. Noone (five pointst to whoever gets the reference) are the two big WTFs.

Damn, yet again we are given more information and simply find ourselves more confused than before. In this, Lost seems to be similar to modern physics.
Things that stick in my mind:
1)“Henry Gale” telling Michael that he could never find his way back there.
2)The way the sky turned white/violet all over the island.
3)THE FUCKING STATUE FOOT.

My current theory is that the island’s electromagnetic field has been harnessed by someone to create a “pocket dimension,” a sort of Roach Motel, where people can come in but can’t get out. And from the size and apparent age of that statue, this island was inhabited at least hundreds and possibly thousands of years ago, which may mean that the Hanso Foundation wasn’t responsible for the pocket dimension. As much as the show producers keep denying it (to the point of having Sawyer mock it), I am still thinking aliens are involved. Maybe not now, but at some point. I think the whole island is an alien artifact.
