I’d think that a day has passed since the tailies arrived. In that day they have
a) dead Shannon
b) tearful reunions (Jin & Sun, Rose & Bernard)
c) critically wounded Sawyer
d) explaination that there really are tail section survivors & their story
e) the explaination of the Hatch & it’s contents to Michael
f) “What happened on the raft?” “Lemmie tell ya…”
I would imagine that they’ll get around to it. Frankly, setting up an offensive may not be the wisest use of their limited resources.
Has Flight attendant girl/redshirt turned up yet? Isn’t that compelling evidence of the presence of others in the area?
I took that as Kate trying to make herself feel something for the “perfect” Jack rather than the dad-like Sawyer. When it didn’t work she realized that she was a bad bad girl. Naughty. Dirty.
Sorry.
I have this picture in my mind of Locke and Mistereko in another part of the bunker, hunched over a computer, totally fucking with Michael’s head and laughing their asses off.
And, Jack seemed completely underwhelmed by Kate’s kiss.
A better question is why Kate kissed Jack, period, since she was supposed to be all lovey-dovey for Sawyer. WAG: Kate was shook bad after hearing her dead daddy speak through Sawyer’s lips and went for it when he comforted her, since they have this weird flirty thing. But earlier, after Jack heard Sawyer mumble deliriously, “Where’s Kate? I love her,” I think a lot of his potential amor was sucked out of him. He didn’t return the kiss back, they both knew it, and she took off again.
I think it was a bit shitty of Jack not to say, “Kate, Sawyer told me he loves you.” But Jack’s is the world’s most inept doctor when it comes to raw emotion.
Are we sure it was Kate that Sawyer was talking about? When Kate and Sawyer had their little fireside confessional, Sawyer said that he’d never been in love.
I guess it boggles my mind to think that Kate would be someone’s first love.
It also could have been the voice of Kate’s dead dad.
I mean, Sayid saw Walt…Sawyer sees the horse…maybe Jack is hearing Kate’s ghost-like-stuff too and just not understanding what he’s hearing.
I think Sawyer’s loopy confessional to Jack was the reason he wasn’t returning Kate’s kiss. Jack did want to talk to her, but she just ran off…maybe he was going to mention Sawyer then.
True, but I think it’s awfully strongly implied that Kate is who Jack thought Sawyer meant, hence his muted reaction to Kate’s ill-intended kiss.
A bigger (possible) misdirection in this episode was that was “really” Waaaaaaaaalt on the other end of the computer. “Dad?” is nowhere near as definitive as, “Dad, this is Walt.”
We’ll see next time for sure. I’ll be pissed if Michael doesn’t confirm it’s Walt before storming off to rescue him. I’ll groan if the something happens to the computer communications before the confirmation.
Overall, I thought last night’s episode was very, very strong.
On the Gilgamesh/Ekidu front, which one’s Gilgamesh, Locke or Eko? 'Cuz Ekidu’s is fated to die as in the epic, and Eko is all about “fate” over “coincidence.”
I hereby name Eko as Lost’s official Sacrificial Negro.
I just hope Eko doesn’t die this season. Seeing Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Harold Perrineau Jr. working together again since HBO’s OZ has been great fun. I want to see other Ozzies turn up in the Others’ camp as series regulars: J.K. Simmons. Lee Tergeson. Dean Winters.
That horse showing up reminded me of the story Locke told Kate and Sawyer (when Sawyer was trying to track the boar that was harassing him).
Interesting: in the previews, Eko is reciting the 23rd Psalm, except he says “though I walk through the shadow of the valley of death” instead of “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death”. Is this a goof on the writer’s part . . . or is it . . . significant?
I noticed that myself, but I wasn’t entirely sure if he misspoke or if I was misremembering, since my entire experience of the 23rd psalm comes from horror movies and the like. And where I am, the preview said “Coming on Lost”, rather than “next week,” so I don’t know about a new episode before January.
Remember Hurley talking to Jack about transference and taking Sawyers place chopping wood? My take on it is that the transference was really more about Jack taking Sawyers place for the kiss. And that kiss was no where near as hot as the one Kate gave Sawyer while he was tied up being tortured last season - consistent with, “Yeah I really want to be comforted right now, but I’m freaked out that the guy I’m really into is possessed with the ghost of my dead father. You’ll do.”
The misquote of the 23rd Psalm makes this even more interesting…
Episode 2.10: The 23rd Psalm
Airdate: January 11, 2006
Mr. Eko’s upcoming flashback episode, titled “The 23rd Psalm,” will shed more light on why the character took a 40-day vow of silence on the island. And producers promise more info on that stick. “It has its own flashback,”[Damon] Lindelof quips.
I guess then we’ll know if the misquote was intentional.
I’m very annoyed with Locke for saying that the film answers all their questions. Okay, mr. smartypants, how about these: WHY??? What happens, exactly, if they don’t enter the code? What is an “incident”? If it’s walking distance from one installation to another, why were the people in the bunker sequestered for 108 days, or 216, or however the hell long they expected them to be there?
I seem to remember that there was no computer prompt in front of “Dad?”
Anybody notice that, too, or was I mistaken?
Also, in season 1, whenever there was a mirage of sorts, only one person would see it. Now mulitiple people see the variouis mirages. Maybe the psychic projection crew is getting better/stronger…?
