I think I may be the first to mention this, although I didn’t read the whole thread.
Did anyone notice that Desmond’s full name is Desmond David Hume? Another philosopher name.

I think someone might have mentioned that last season in a thread, but it was a while ago.

If so, for those others who watched…
Did we see the woman from the jewelry store with The Others?

Hey, thanks for spoil-boxing the network promos. I hate those damn things and avoid them and I know other people do too.
Since Senior Beef said that in the post above, I will go the extra mile and spoiler my question regarding next week’s previews.
Jack seems to know the flight attendant who disappeared as the Tailies treked across the island. Did he meet her on the plane or did he just know her from everyone else’s account? I want to see if Libby had any role in her abduction. She was carrying her bag shortly after she mysteriously vanished. Libby’s death ticked me off because it was more about external events than about the series.
Spoilered answer:
She was the flight attendant who gave him the extra vodka right before the plane went down, so he’s likely to remember her. He also would have heard of her disappearance from Ana Lucia and the rest of the group.
I think Cindy (the flight attendant in question) was the one who gave him the two bottles of booze right before the turbulence hit. So, yes, he probably knows who she is.
Mrs. RickJay taped the episode on the DVR, so I watched it this weekend, though I hadn’t been bothered to when it was on.
Great TV, really; well directed, creepy, excellent acting. And it simply went nowhere and explained nothing, all things considered in the end. We’ll get another seaason and a half or so, and then it will grind to a halt, nothing really explained.

Didn’t you hear? The official story behind the deaths of Libby and Anna Lucia had nothing to do with real world events!
And George Tenet really did resign to spend more time with his family…

Spoiler response to the spoiler responses:
I thought that was the case. But I can barely remember which is Jin and which is Sun, let alone details from the Pilot!
I think Adam and Eve are Kate and Sawyer. At the very least, someone from the show.
Yeh, from that very second in that episode, I figured it was Kate & Jack. I still remember Locke’s talk to waaaaaalt about good/evil/black/white when they were playing backgammon in season 1. So, these are obvious themes that still have yet to surface in full force. C’mon season 3… best get rollin’.
Still, I thought this was an awesome episode, up there with the best of 'em. I disagree that we didn’t learn anything. Observe:
We learned that the DI knows about future events.
We know that DI has extensive knowledge on the life and times of Desmond, so extrapolating from there, I’m guessing everyone else on the island too. They must all be connected, and therefore have a purpose.
We learned that major events, if given prior knowledge, can be changed, but the universe will force corrections in order to keep things in check. Fucking Asshole Universe!
Charlie is supposed to die. And if Charlie’s not stoopid, will stick to Desmond like glue.
When a step ladder says not to use the top step, they ain’t kidding.
Cricket bats knock your clothes off.
I miss anything?
What’s “DI” mean?
-FrL-
She’s the one who gave him the vodak (2 bottles), so yes he knew her on the plane.
Dharma Initiative.
And the more I think about it, the more I think Charlie’s probably the safest one on the island right now. No way they’d give us that much of a foreshadowing. I hope I’m wrong, though.
I thought it was Amelia Earhart and her navigator. It fit the time frame and the random crashes/Bermuda triangle-esque vibe.
No joke. I am hoping the diminished ratings make the networks willing to let the series wrap it up in the next two years.
Help me out, please. I re-watched the “previously on Lost” for this episode and I think I missed an episode somewhere? I have no recollection of Desmond previously running naked through the woods, running into Hurley, being given a shirt, and a mention of Locke’s speech. When did that happen? I know I missed an episode right at the beginning of the season, maybe episode 3. I’m so confused, help!
After the hatch blew up (that was the end of season 2, right?), which involved Desmond being sort of under the hatch turning a key, the “sky turned purple.”
Charlie just sort of sauntered back to the beach and didn’t bother to tell anyone what he saw going on in the last minutes of the hatch.
Hurley was on his way back from the dock-from-which-Jack/Sawyer/Kate were held at gunpoint and taken away. He ran into Desmond who was stark naked - presumably the blowing of the hatch had knocked him clean naked. Desmond asked Hurley for a shirt.
Hurley hooked him up…someone mentioned Jack/Sawyer/Kate to him. He’s all “Locke is going to get them, he’s gonna say so in his speech.” The person (Hurley?) was all “Uhm…what speech?” and Desmond was like “uhm…forget I said that” and walked off.
He then went to Claire and was like “hey you gotta move your tent, it’s going to be struck by lightning” and she didn’t move her tent but Desmond set up a lightning rod and diverted the electricity to the ground and saved her. So now Desmond is coming to grips with the fact that he can see the future.
And Locke’s speech was basically telling everyone what happened to Jack/Sawyer/Kate as told to him by Hurley and Jin, Sun & Sayid (who had attempted to follow the group when they went off to find the Others), and what he and Sayid planned to do about it (go after them).
I could explain more but hopefully that gets you caught up.
I’d seen the episode where Des sets up the lightning rod so that was throwing me off since it was included in those “previously” scenes. What you described sounds like it falls in time with the episode I missed. Much appreciated.
