Lost 3.18 "D.O.C."

Hey! Maybe Mikhail is the one who helped Ethan string Charlie up and Mikhail was just having a fond memory.

Perhaps he was only mostly dead, it worked for Peter Petrelli.
I think we know why the guys on the island are so tough now, it’s all that sperm coursing through their veins … well, vas deferens.

I almost forgot my schtick this week!

VINCENT!

Magically heal from everything except fetus carrying. Bum-mer.

Obviously he was faking.

Told ya.

Pretty cool how he can make blood come from his ears at will. Then again, that’s probably not really at that useful a skill … well, it might be fun at parties.

Sure! What kid wouldn’t want to see that?

Well, it may not be that – I’m not jumping to any conclusions yet. Could be that the Others (or perhaps their organization on the outside – Mittelos) arranged a fake somehow. Falsified the “evidence”, perhaps?

Or, they have influence over the Powers That Be and that’s just what was reported on CNN. Just because that’s what Helicopter Girl believes doesn’t mean that’s what actually happened.

Naomi said “Eu não estou só,” Portuguese for “I’m not the only.” It might have been the beginning of the phrase “Eu não estou sozinha,” Portuguese for “I’m not alone.” This is according to a Brazilian friend of mine. Since the Catch-22 book found with Naomi in last week’s episode was a Portuguese version, it makes sense that she might speak Portuguese.

I think I missed something, that’s what I get for running back and forth between the TV and the computer. First Hurley understood her and then he didn’t. I thought I heard something about Chinese. Then Mikhail says she’s speaking Italian. Was he just lying? He is an Other, after all, and they do that so well. I know they’re all Romance languages but I thought Portuguese was closer to Spanish?
I took some Spanish in high school and college and then French later in college and I just confused the hell out of myself and ended up speaking something like Spench. Later in life I thought it might be fun to learn Italian, then I realized I’d end up with Spenchlian.

The Lostpedia wiki says she spoke in Spanish, Italian, Chinese, and Portuguese. Whew. They agree with the Portuguese translation that I posted earlier.

Well, maybe I can’t hate Juliet quite as much as she hates Ben. Still, she’s in with 'em.
And just for randwill: http://www.khaaan.com/

I didn’t get “they are in purgatory” from what she said. So what are you thinking exactly, that Naomi took a helicopter to the afterlife and landed in purgatory?

Ok, riddle me this. They know that a woman who conceives o the Island will die somewhere in the middle of the pregancy. 100% certain. And of course, the baby will die with her, at least given the level of medical tech they have there. So why the holy fuck don’t the mothers-to-be have abortions?

Short answer: Hope springs eternal. Everybody hopes that this time will finally be different.

They take the ill-fated mothers to the “Secret Hospice” to die, so maybe the new mothers don’t know that they’re doomed.

Thre are four possibilities wrt the “they found Flight 815” thing.
1)Heli-girl is an Other, or in with them, and she’s lying. (likeliest)
2)The Others faked a crash site, complete with bodies (very very unlikely due to the logistical problems.)
3)They’re dead and in some sort of afterlife. (Not very likely since the Others have communications with the outside world.)
4)The Island is a crux of various alternate realities that can all be reached from it.

But who’s Will?

Maybe he’s the other one with the helicopter-chick, if she’s not alone.
Hey! Dogs can track things! Vincent can find him! That dog knows something…

Seems to me that the women on the island should be told immediately that if they get pregnant, they are certain to die within 4.5 months. That could affect one’s evening plans.

Maybe there hasn’t been an island version of Roe v. Wade.

It could, but it just as likely wouldn’t. We don’t know what anyone was told about what happened to the women who got pregnant prior to them. We already know Ben is a liar, and probably Juliet – for all we know, they made up a plausible excuse to explain away each death, and that was that. Maybe they told everyone else the mothers went “home.” We just don’t know.

And although it is probably foolish of me to project personal experience onto a television show (especially this one), I can tell you this: as someone who has experienced fertility issues, I wouldn’t care about the odds. If there was any chance at all, I’d probably risk it. Sometimes, you’re selfish that way. Or optimistic. Or stupid. Or all of the above.
