Lost 4.03: "The Economist"

It looks weird because those buildings were skewed, reflected, with a wave going through them. Then there was a compressed screen grab that you distorted some more. In the moving images, they’re undeniably buildings being reflected. I already posted this, but here’s another directly from promo material:

I wouldn’t say those are “shapes-outta-clouds”. They’re buildings. A reflected cityscape.

Still nothing to see or worth speculating about. I think it just shows they’re returning to civilization. Which we already know. no big secret or mystery there.

Telepathically, through Jacob, of course!

I didn’t mention it. But if you are referring to the fellow on the golf course, I recall that the last name was something like “Livieu,” “Milieu.” or something similar and French-sounding. Can someone confirm?

Also…why was Harold Perrineau’s name in the opening credits? I do not recall seeing Michael at any point during this episode.

I’m assuming that they are just running interference for when Michael does show up again - it’s always disappointing to be spoiled by an actor’s name in the credits. If he’s there every week when he does appear in the show it will be a surprise.

HELP - I had to leave during the show so I missed some stuff. Left when they found Hurley in a closet (!was that explained?) and came back when Sayid and Charlotte - or irritating English Accent lady as I call her - did. (Why did Kate stay? What happened to Miles?). Can you guys help me out with these missing pieces? I know I can watch the show later at the ABC site but I want my “Lost” fix NOW. thanks

and “The Economist” … who? why important? any clues, speculation?

To me, it looks like “N, I’ll always be with you. R.G.” - so I don’t see how Sayid could have given it to his girlfriend? She would be all, “Who the hell is N.? And why are you using the initials R.G.?” So either way, it doesn’t make sense.

This is the most fascinating and plausible theory for Lost that I’ve seen yet. What do you guys think?

Mr. Avellino.

whb: Go to Lostpedia and they have a recap.

I concur 100%. “shapes outta clouds” was a metaphor meaning: if you see anything other than a cityscape, you’re overanylizing it too much.

Hence my verdict: nothing to see here.

Sorry, but I missed the earlier post showing the far more clear skyline.

The man’s name was Mr. Avellino.

Clearly, you were 31 seconds late on that.

…Cloverfield?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Wouldn’t it have been cool if the time lapse was 18 minutes?

It’s a contract thing. He’s been contracted for X episodes in a season, but because he’s a “regular” he’ll be in the credits for the entire season.

This kind of question came up often in Babylon 5 discussions. From what I can recall, they had like 3 tiers of regulars on their shows. People who were in every episode in a 22 episode season, people who were in 16, and those who were in 12. All three groups appeared in the regular “starring” credits at the beginning of the show.

The numbers were made up, but the general ideas apply all over.

I should have known. I was told not to use this computer to communicate with the outside.

oops - didn’t know the “Lostpedia” recaps were so thorough. So now I know What happened. As usual, don’t know Why.

Naw, he was 31 minutes late. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just click on the “why” link at the top.

Something that just occurred to me while reading the discussion of how Ben communicates with his person on the freighter.

Charlotte knows that Ben has a mole on the freighter and that he knows everything about them. Why didn’t she mention this to either Daniel or Frank? Does Lost Information Sharing Apathy (LISA) set in that fast?

My guess would be because she is the mole.
