re - the atomic blast - I think the situation would be more comparable to the a-bomb tests on South Pacific atolls than to Hiroshima. But I was thinking of the radiation keeping people away. I probably off the rails anyway.
and Wheelz - thanks for a go at the Sun mystery. It’s still a mystery to me, anyway, why she didn’t flash back with the others.
Since I hadn’t watched the first season in a couple years, I thought I’d rewatch the whole series in a slow enough pace that when season 6 comes on, I’ll be re-caught up.
I have to say that I am already seeing things that I hadn’t noticed before because their importance/significance wasn’t apparent yet. Things like seeing a white tennis shoe up in a tree (Christian) or Locke on the beach talking to Walt about backgammon and explaining that it’s dark against light.
As for why Sun didn’t go back, didn’t Hawkings state that without everyone present that time the track back would be unpredictable. Since Aaron was with Sawyer’s ex, maybe Sun didn’t make it back (or maybe Sun is the only one who made it back “correctly”)
We were told (by Sayid, I think) that Faraday left instruction to do “something” to the uranium trigger after they removed it. That wasn’t discussed much. Later Sayid, being the show’s explosive expert, seemed to imply he further modified it so that it could be triggered by impact. Whether or not this is at all realistic is one thing, but they at least tried to do more than hand wave past it and have our heros pull the core out and take to the Swan site.
Obligatory link to a 1950’s style fission=>fusion Hydrogen bomb. One presumes that Jughead was supposed to be a bomb along these lines.
It’s not just Sun. Lapidis left the island the same time and way the O6 did. And he was taking the place of Greg Grunberg from the original crash in the Ajira crash.
Locke and Ben are easy to explain, even ignoring Locke being an imposter. They left via frozen donkey wheel. But Sun and Lapidis, it’s hard to come up with anything beyond random chance. Or [del]a wizard[/del] the island did it.
No real/official connections to the show, but I’ve been playing this album a lot lately and just realized this song was posted on youtube. I thought it was apt enough to the show to post; if nothing else, it’s an excuse to share a neat little song that might not otherwise get heard.
