I think that scene has more to do with the metaphor of the sacrifice (his death) that Locke is going to have to do on his own, rather than anything to do with Christian’s physical nature.
That guy is Patrick Fischler, he always plays a doucebag. Typecasting is a bitch, but it pays the bills because weasely evil ratmen will always be in demand.
To me that’s been the achille’s heel of the show and has always been a hard pill to swallow.
During the first 101 days on the island our small group of main characters have been running around finding new places and new people while all these other survivors just did what? Sit on their hands?
And now 3 years have past with 6 people leaving the island and a few others living with the Dharmaites. Beach survivors anyone? What have they been doing the past 3 years? More sitting on their hands?
It’s assumed that every other unnamed survivor of Oceanic 815 was killed. But still, where the hell are Rose and Bernard? They had names dammit! And they were awesome!
“36 of the total 71 initial survivors of the crash are either known to have died or presumed to have died during the the main timeline of events on the Island. That leaves as many as 35 remaining survivors (possibly more if some of the presumed dead characters are actually alive); however, 13 of them have been absorbed by the Others and are rarely seen.”
Regard of whether or not Miles is Pierre’s son, we know that he was on the island at some point before because he got nosebleeds before Juliet.
I don’t think we are done with them. They might be dead, but we’re gonna find out eventually what happened to them. Especially because they were with Vincent, and remember that they found Vincent’s leash back at the beach. My guess is either they died, becoming Adam and Eve, or that they joined the hostiles.
I have adhered to the mindset for some time that most of the “risen dead” on the show are in fact a manifestation of ol’ Smokie. This is evidenced (to me at least) by the onset of whispers before smokie’s appearances as well as whispers appearing before Juliet’s interaction with the dead psychiatrist in season 3, and now Christian’s appearance in the last episode.
Also, Smokie seems to be able to scan our Losties (and presumably anyone else) for information, and Dr. Shepard the senior seems to have an awful lot of that, not to mention a direct connection to Jacob and an ability to appear wherever he is needed, especially near Dharma stations, which from the Blast Door Map, seem to be relatively close to Cerberus Vents.
Of Course, I very well may be thinking WAY too much into all of this and Dr. Shepard Sr. may in fact be up and walking around, but I seem to remember hearing from Cuse and Lindelof that those who were dead on the show remained as such, (Locke excepted apparently)
Sorry - just thought of something else: Wouldn’t Sawyer, Juliet, et al now feel a bit closer and have a bit more loyalty to people they’ve now spent 3 Years with as opposed to Jack, Kate, etc., who they spent, what, 4 Months with [in “Lost” time]?
Where did Lostpedia pull the 71 number? The show was always billed as a show about the 42 survivors of Oceanic 815. Of course, if 36 are dead, that would be counting Rose and Bernard as the other six are obviously accounted for.
