LOST 6.12 "Everybody Loves Hugo"

BTW - is it just me, or did this episode make alt-Hugo a bit less sympathetic? I mean, sure, it’s Lost, and there’s all sorts of mystical woo floating around - but still. Dude. You picked up a chick from a mental hospital. That’s not really cool.

Obviously Hugo has never heard the rule “Don’t stick your dick in the crazy.”

Aha! That’s probably what it is.

Originally, I thought that this was one of Widmore’s orders. Take out Locke so he gets no flashback, but Desmond wants everybody to know about BOTH timelines it appears.

Yes, and he seems pretty sure of what he’s doing.
But last week Eloise, who seems to know more than anybody, told him he wasn’t “ready.” Of course I don’t know what that means or what her motives are, but it could very well be that his meddling may turn out to be a mistake.

From the moment in the Desmond episode where Eloise said that there were rules, this ATL stuff has been as good as the island. But this episode filled me with hope that this thing is going end INCREDIBLY. No more hating from me until the end.

When I saw the Black Rock explode, it hit me that this show is ENDING soon. Sure, they can promo it all they want, but it really didn’t sink in until then. I always go into a funk when long running shows that I love finish up. End of an era that makes me feel old. Lost is probably my favorite show ever (certainly the most involved I’ve been with a show), so I am ordering a crate of Dharma Wine to get me through the end of May.

Didn’t you also love Jack’s response when Hurley told him it was HIS idea and not Jacob’s? “I know.” MFox has REALLY impressed me this season. His take on a zen Jack has been brilliant.

I thought it was a different boy. I think one represents Jacob and one Smokey. I’m still getting a Cain and Abel vibe. If so, the one that looks more like Jacob (fair and brown haired) was the one with blood on his hands.

I shot up in bed when Hurley said that. That was a FREAKING ANSWER. No hedging. No vagueness. No new mystery. FLAT ASS MYTHOLOGY DOWNLOAD!

Really. REALLY?!! We get the first straight answer and you complain about the delivery! I WOULD LOVE FOR ONE FULL FREAKING EPISODE to be everyone standing around a camp fire asking questions and having Jacob or Ben simply answer them!

Which reminds me, the scene where they come to confront Locke reminded me of Tribal Council on Survivor. If only a few of those reality show douchebags had gotten their torch extinguished the same way that Ilana got hers snuffed!

Maybe he feels talking to Locke will prevent the Ewoks from ever being born.

That didn’t look like the same well to me; neither the terrain nor the well itself looked the same.

Chalk me up on the vengeance theory, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I am wrong. It is all so parallel.

BTW, Did Hurley look in a mirror?

That “Hi, Jack” was so freaking creepy. Why single out Jack? Gave me the chills. Please allow me to insert my weekly, Terry O’Quinn is operating on a higher plane this season (heh…plane).

That was one creepy promo.

As others have responded, they have a history. But it got me thinking.

Desmond saw Ben the night before the big asswhupping at the Lampost, and asked what “he’s doing here.” My question: when had they met on island? Desmond was gone before Ben was taken wrisoner in the hatch. Then he was on the freighter during the merc raid/rescue. Where would they have met? Desmond always kind of floated in and out of the beach camp much like he floated in and out of time. I know he knew who Ben was, but why would he know him on sight at the Lampost.

Nice catch! I miss the Easter Egg moments they used to slip in. This episode, with that and the beach picture, was a welcomed return.

Yes. Yes, it.

That’s a rule? Damn…

I always lived by a slightly different version.

“Don’t stick your dick in the crazy…more than once!

From the rules

That hasn’t been the case for a while. Not a big deal, I just noticed it was still getting cut & pasted in there.

Is it Festivus already? (Actually, that episode of Seinfeld was airing as I was reading this thread… I sense the island or perhaps Jacob at work here)

Yes, I was totally thinking of Eko at that point.

So, Illana, pretty worthless character in the end, huh? Well, not as bad as Cesar, but close.

I dunno, she didn’t burn near as much (pointless) screen time as Shannon and Boone. Ugh.

Looks like we’ve discovered the theme: LOST is really a Willy Wonka Spinoff!!

MIB=Willy, Candidates=Children, Slugworth=Widmore, Others=Oompa Loompas, Island=Wonkaland, Jacob’s Touch=Golden Ticket, Jack=Charlie, Jacob=Grandpa Joe, Hurley=Augustus Gloop, etc. :smiley:

It would really be a mistake to the happy Widmore family and their musician son, Daniel.

As far as being “ready”-- or “the island isn’t done with you yet”-- I think refers to the EM test Desmond went through last week. Now he is sure he lives in another lifetime with cuddly Penny.

Or of Tammany Hall, the Triple Crown winner! Woo! Space turtles!

That was my first thought.

Nan Sequitur & Fenris, great minds think a like!

Thanks, I find that I manage to just get by with a little help from my friends.

Is it possible that the Desmonds switched brains? The ATL timeline is zen master island guy, and Island Desmond we know and love is running over parapalegics in the ATL. I think they are still confused, but still flipped.

That would explain why Desmond, when asked by Ben what his son’s name was, immediately answered “Charlie.”

Yes. That’s exactly what I thought.

When Hurley & Co. entered Flocke’s camp I had to think about where Jin went to again.
That’s right, he’s over on Hydra Island. Why?
Last we saw of him was him getting kidnapped, waking up in room 23, Widmore telling him he needs to see “the package” which was Desmond.
So why did Widmore need Jin to see Desmond? Just an unlucky grab as someone to be bait for Flocke?

That’s how I saw it. He knows his ATL ego is doing all the work to get the Oceanic people to “remember” as part of some master plan to stop MIB. Island Desmond is just buying time with nothing to do or be afraid of. Looking at Flocke thinking “If only you knew what the other me was doing in ATL.”

IIRC, Widmore kidnapped Jin because Jin drew a map for Dharma in 1977 showing where various electromagnetic pockets were on the island, and Widmore wanted more info on it.

I knew both were going to happen. But I was left wondering why Desmond would be so sloppy-- it’s not at all clear that he’d kill Locke with the hit and run. Of course, this is “Lost”…
