My guess, because he didn’t join the others in the church, is that Ben finally gets to assume the mantle.
The Jimmy Kimmel lost thing is starting. It reminds me of the Survivor reunions.
The cast is on Jimmy Kimmel live tonight. NOW.
enalzi Beat me to it.
But weren’t Kate, Claire and Sawyer in the passenger section? I completely admit I probably missed something but I remember Frank halting the plane’s departure to allow the others on board. Who were the first one’s on the plane? I think that might that might be important
“Don’t go chasing waterfalls…”
And Rousseau and Alex?
Awww, Matthew Fox is on Kimmell, and he’s all leaky
I think they’re ALL in the afterlife. Alex, Rousseau, etc. They just weren’t ready to move on yet.
Well when you put it like that, I know exactly who was where. The three (Lupi, Dicky, and ESP) were in the cockpit. They stopped to pick up three more. and then Frank Lapdancer was alone in the 'pit while the other 5 (Dicky, ESP, Freckles, Sawyer, and Clay-uh) were in the passenger compartment.
Either way you count it, you definitely missed Ben staying behind.
I loved it. They Jacob’s Laddered us with the sideways flashes, but i’m cool with that. I’m glad we saw Rose and Bernard. I think taking a page from Mary J is the only way to live on that island. I think Desmond will heal and be able to leave the island to be reunited with Penny. I think Hugo will make a much better Jacob and Ben a much better Richard. And with Sawyer and Miles making it out on the Ajira plane they can open up that private detective agency with Frank as their grizzled pilot. What? I can dream. All in all, i’m satisfied.
Well that was thoroughly unsatisfying.
I mean, they had two years to come up with an ending and that’s what they ended up with? The ALT timeline is purgatory? Seriously? It seems they got the idea from having to dispel all the rumors during season one that the island itself was purgatory. Frankly, it’s just lazy writing. And the “COEXIST” stained glass window was a howler.
What made LOST great for 5.95 seasons were the little glimpses of an overarching architecture that was so large we couldn’t quite grasp what it was. It turns out, after six years, it was just a movie soundstage. This is the kind of finale episode I would forgive if they had found out midseason that they were being canceled. With two years to prepare, it’s pretty unforgivable.
At least the recap show reminded me of how great this show used to be.
Also, I can’t believe anyone thought it was a good idea to send Sayid to heaven with Shannon, someone he knew for a few weeks in life. Although, maybe because he’s Muslim, he can be with Nadya too. Too bad Sawyer wasn’t a Mormon.
Except that one of the last things Hurley and Ben talked about was finding a way to get Desmond home. So I’m guessing that Hurley finds a way eventually, and Desmond gets to go back and live out his life with Penny and son Charlie.
Letting him feel closure, knowing that his sacrifice has helped save the lives of his friends – knowing that Kate, Sawyer, Claire, etc are safe.
Nope – they died in season 4, of course. And they are still dead. They weren’t in the church because they were not among the closest relationships for our Losties.
He was probably there somewhere – just not making connections with our Losties, as they were not the closest people to him. He’s probably off in his own afterlife, reuniting with his 1860s wife, and maybe smoking a joint with Dogen and Lennon.
Ana Lucia was there last episode. Desmond said she wasn’t ready yet (i.e. not ready to “let go”, I presume). Perhaps this means not ready to let go of one’s mortal life – you have to be ready to let go, in order to move on.
Again, perhaps they will make their own afterlife connections with the people closest to them, and eventually they will be ready to let go and “move on”.
could not have put this any better.
(I think people like you and I who think this way are more into the sci-fi/mystery/fantasy aspect of the island than the viewers who were focused on the characters. you know, the ones who cried at the end of this hooey :D)
Amen. Seriously - I was amazed that no one looked at all of those extended “oh, wow, I just remembered I love you” montages, and thought they needed to be trimmed. Or cut. Or fed to angry rabid rottweilers.
Do you mean the Oceanic 6, leaving in season 4? They left the island for real, and they really came back (except Aaron) 3 years later. Only the “alternate timeline” stuff this season has been the afterlife waiting room.
They couldn’t make the shooting schedule, so they got screwed.
Makes sense, but it makes Sayid being with Shannon even weirder. I can’t see him picking her over Nadia. He would leave them behind for her.
I thought the finale was okay, but I’m basically with you on this. I don’t understand why there has to be an exclusive choice between a character-focussed story and a story that actually addresses the sci-fi/fantasy mysteries that it sets up. I don’t see why we couldn’t have all the schmaltzy reunions and five minutes or so in which we find out how and why the golden light cave came to be there and what it does.
I mean, obviously, it’s aliens, but they could have told us this.
Hahaha – Jimmy Kimmel is now asking Daniel Dae Kim the same question many of us had – “shouldn’t one of you stick around for the baby?”
