LOST 6.17 "The End"

Well … huh.

Best part: Vincent was there.

What a bizarre way to close the show.

Well, son of a bitch, and bastards thereof.

Sooooo…they all died in the initial plane crash?

I’m not sure how I feel about the 6th sense ending. I also don’t understand how it all ties together. What does it signify for the two alternate realities?

Confused and sad.

What?

No, but they did die eventually, and they found each other again.

I must object; Sayeed spends eternity with his one night stand Shannon, not Nadya? Booo, hisss

Personal reactions…

The Island still exists. The ATL amounted to… I don’t know. Jack squat it would seem.

Hurley’s the new Jacob, with Ben as his new ‘Richard’. There seems to be no new Smokey as I’m entirely certain what happened to Jack. He seemed to die in the clearing next to Vincent.

This is about what I expected from the finale. I’m not sure if I’m happy or not yet. I liked the show but as an ending if left me wanting.

I took the last scene to be the wreckage of the plane crash, silent because there were no survivors. Hmmm.

Then what was with the debris on the beach?

When Desmond beat him up.

Yeah, I mean i get that that was the whole pearly gates thang. but… huh?

Can somebody explain the light well to me? I stopped watching after Season 2, but started watching the episode tonight when Desmond was being lowered down the waterfall.

Second reaction…

The Island is the afterlife. Everyone died on the initial crash.

A lot of people called this on the Pilot and they would seem to have been correct.

It was all a dream. “Bobby, Bobby, get out of that shower NOW!!”

Once they detonated the bomb in 1977, it created an alternate universe. They lived their lives without the influence of the island, and finally, in death, found each other and remembered both timelines?

Get this - our local ABC affiliate totally forked up the transmission of the show. It was extremely pixelated, on and off, occasionally dropping signal.

I thought it was just me (as I have over-the-air digital) but nope - they put up a notice about an hour in about how they have fucked up and will re-air it next Saturday. NEXT SATURDAY! My friends watching on DirectTV had the same issues.

I have quite a headache right now. It was like watching television through a seizure.

Well that plus I was crying at the end, although I’m not sure why. I think because Vincent was there. Dogs make me cry.

That doesn’t seem to be the case. Hurley for example referenced a life we never see where he supposedly protects the island along with Ben.

It’s the classic ghost story this ending. They all die (at different times) and then need to be told that they are dead. The sideway flashes are a sort of afterlife waiting room.

Archaeological remains, basically. What was left of them all many years after the events took place. See also: ending of Blackadder Goes Forth

The sideways/alt universe was where they all met after they died. I’m shattered.
