Lost: Epilogue

If you were wondering what happened to Walt, it’s your lucky day.

Hmm…did you read the comments on that page? People were talking like there were a ton of answers in the clip. And that it was longer. This article says Jezebel leaked an 11-minute clip.

But I only see like 3 mins. Did ABC come down on Jezebel.com already or am I missing something?

Woah. Yeah, they did change it. I clicked when I first saw this thread a while ago and got the whole thing. They cut out a scene where… I guess I should spoiler it:
In a big warehouse space, two guys in Dharma jumpsuits are packing up food for the “next launch”. A teletype chatters, giving the coordinates for the drone to go to. Ben Linus comes strolling in and informs them that:
-They’re fired, as there’s no longer any need for the food launch
-They’re getting huge severance payouts
-There hasn’t been anyone at the LA “Lamppost” station, which is where the coordinates come from, for over 20 years, and it’s all automated.

The two guys are confused, and Linus allows them to ask a question each. First guy gets to learn that the food is going to an island. That moves. That’s why the coordinates are always different. Second guy asks about the polar bear fish biscuits that they keep sending, and Linus pulls out a DVD containing the Orchid training video, and they watch it. Among the things we learn is that the “Hurleybird” is a genetically modified bird Dharma has made and released, the electrical field at the Orchid is very bad for pregnancies, the polar bears are supposed to be trained in the cages and then released with a tracking collar on, the flashy video “Clockwork Orange”-style device/room is designed to let them interrogate the Hostiles while erasing their memories, so as to help them keep the truce, and, uh, oh. The Asian guy warns the viewer to never share his real name, or else he’ll have to start using aliases.

After the video, one of the guys says “I think we’ll need to see that again” hur hur, and Linus leaves. The end.

He then goes to see Walt, which is the part that seems to still be up.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing.

Yep, as Smeghead says, it was originally 12 minutes or so. The lawyers at Jezebel must have gotten spooked.

Either way, I still think the comments make it sound like more was answered than actually was.

The full video is available in the seedy back alleys of the internet.

We got a couple of answers, but I still don’t understand why Walt is special.

Here’s a place the 12 minutes can be seen.
Ahhh Ben, loved seeing him again.

My guess is that Walt is the only one who can help the souls stuck on the island to move on. Hence Ben saying Walt can still help his father even though he’s dead.

I remember reading in one of the *Lost *threads here that there was going to be an ~15 min clip of Ben and Hurley on the Island after Hurley becomes Jacob. Any news on that? That’s the one I want to see.

Wow what a rush! I will really miss that show.

Nope, this is it. This is the epilogue featuring Ben and Hurley that’s on the DVD.

I think it told us:

 1. How the food drops were happening.

 2. What Hurley and Ben are doing - shutting down the rest of Dharma and rescuing the lost souls on the Island. These must be their top priorities…along with making sure Walt is helped and brought back with them.

 3. Basically what is happening to Walt.

It makes you wonder what in the name of crap Jacob was up to all those years.

Couldn’t this thread have been opened using the standard *Lost *format? For old times sake.

Didn’t even think about it. My apologies for missing that opportunity.

I noticed Walt was playing “Connect Four” – do you think this was a wink at Jimmy Kimmell’s “Connect 1,000,000” parody commercial?

Could some kind soul post a quick summary for those of us at work w/no speakers?
Kthxbai.

In post 3 Smeghead sums up the first part of the video well.

The second part concerns Walt.
Ben goes to see Walt who is in a mental institution. He tells Walt that he is special and he needs to come with him. He says that Walt can help his dad Michael. Walt says that his dad is dead to which Ben replies, “that doesn’t mean you can’t help him.”

Walt and Ben leave the institute and get inside the blue van that is waiting in the parking lot.

Inside Hurley is sitting in the back seat and says hey to Walt. Walt says everyone thought he was crazy and Hurler says, “You’re not crazy dude. Far from it. You just need to go back to the island that’s all.”

Then he tells Walt that he’d like to talk to him about a job and says, “Let’s get out of here. Lets go home.”

Then the van drives off and credits roll.
I wanted to wait until I got the DVD but I finally broke down and watched it. Pretty good. I almost wished they broke it down into several parts over the last season, with the audience stumped as to what/why/when Ben is doing, with the final reveal that Hurley’s the new man in charge in the final episode.

More of a reference to the first season, when they showed Hurley playing Connect 4 in the mental hospital.

The wife and I just finished watching a complete boxed set of Lost’s final season. The two epilogues, with Ben at the warehouse and Hurley picking up Walt, are included.
That was a great series, but I have to say we’re a little disappointed in the ending, plus just a little confused. I don’t know if a spoiler box is necessary at this point, but I guess better safe than sorry:
Did everyone in the original universe live out their lives fully? And then the ones in the side universe die at the time shown while remembering their complete other lives? Because I had the impression Hurley was guardian for a very long time with Ben his assistant for a very long time, based on their dialogue outside the church. We liked the side-universe story except for the ending.

Among the extras, it showed Jorge Garcia picking up and reading the script for the final episode at his home. He jokes to the camera from time to time, but when he gets to the part where it turns out he is named the new guardian, it obviously affects him deeply. There’s a tear running down his face. It was a very emotional discovery for him.
Funny, the ending was the only thing I liked about the side universe story. I thought that everything that happened in the side universe was pointless. None of it seemed to matter in the end.

As for your question. Everyone lived out their lives before they met each other in the sideway universe. So Hurley remembered all the time he spent with Ben on the Island, but arrived in the sideways universe that the same time as Jack, who died a long time before him.
