Lost fans: Your theories on who 'Him' is? [unboxed spoilers]

Him. He. The big guy. The head honcho, the glorious leader, etc. There’s lots of speculation, but who do you think it is?

My money’s on Thomas Mittlewerk.

I see the DHARMA experiment being originally set up on the island, with Ben and most of the Others, by Alvar Hanso to test the Valenzetti equation somehow. At this point the Others are under DHARMA’s control. Then Thomas Mittlewerk and his cadre take over, and Hanso is forced into confinement, and Mittlewerk introduces Mikhail. The Others form a resistance and become the Hostiles.

I think it fits most things so far. It explains how DHARMA and the Others are enemies, and yet the Others still see themselves as scientists, the good guys–testing the Valenzetti equation to bring peace or immortality or whatever to humankind. It explains Ben’s fear of being caught and/or exposed (‘He’ll kill me!’) and Mikhail’s statement: ‘Ben is not a good man’. It even explains Rousseau’s sickness / the pregnant mothers dying: in his final message on the Hanso Foundation website, Mittlewerk says ‘I have the virus. I will not fail’. It’s possible he introduces it somehow onto the island in order to sabotage the experiment, now that Hanso is out of imprisonment and back in control.

What do you guys think?

Oh gosh who knows, there are so many possibilities! Mittlewerk is certainly a good contender as he’s from DHARMA but seems to be charting his own controversial course. On the other hand, the producers have pretty much admitted that “Him” equals “Jacob”. So unless “Jacob” is a code name…

I’m dying to know if the “Him” the Others refer to (Jacob) is in any way related to the “Him” that Desmond and Kelvin were waiting for.

Doesn’t Mittlewerk seem too easy? I think in typical Lost fashion they’re going to go for a grandious Shyamalan-esque twist that won’t hold up against rabid fan based analysis.

Like:

Locke
Jack
Walt
The monster
Kate
Ana Lucia
Desmond
Vincent

My vote is he’ll end up being “the island.”

Vincent. Obviously.

That dog knows things.

It’s been confirmed by the producers in the podcast that “him” is Jacob. Which makes perfect sense, really.

Who Jacob is, though, is another story all together.

Personally I think theyre making it up as they go along and even the writers have no idea whatsoever about what any of it is supposed to be about.
They ll just keep on churning it out until the public just cant be bothered to watch any more series .

Sorry for my bitterness but I was emotionally scarred for life after avidly following every twist and turn of "Twin Peaks "from beginning to terminally daft end.
