LOTR-ROTK EE (Where to buy?)

So, what kind of price did you guys get it for?

I need it today and was wondering what the going rate was and who had it the cheapest. Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy?

(I don’t have time to buy it on-line)

$22 & change at Best Buy

woohoo!

Actually, $22.99

Oooh, shoulda pre-ordered online at bestbuy.com last week - $22.99 (minus $3 for Best Buy Bucks taking it down to $21 and change after shipping and taxes), and they gave me a $5 online coupon for any future purchases!

$24.97 at the evil Mall-Wart.

$30 at Borders. I knew I was paying too much, but there’s a Borders just a few blocks from my house, and I can walk. IOW, don’t buy it at Borders unless you don’t mind paying a few bucks more.

Has anyone watched it yet??? I’m thinking of a marathon session this weekend with all three EE versions.

$24.99 at Target. I spent Sunday and Monday watching the first two films; this film (and all the bells & whistles) will consume my evenings for the rest of the week.

I want to buy the entire set of all three EE versions. Anyone seen any deals on that?

I almost fell for this bit of mis-leading marketing:
http://www.deepdiscountdvd.com/dvd.cfm?itemID=NLD007347

:dubious:

Last I checked, $.99 was change. Unless you live someplace where they have .33, .66, or .99 bills?

Oooh. That’s GOT to be illegal somehow. Using an image that looks like the Jackson package for the Bakshi version…

As for me:

Wal-Mart: $24.97.

Throw them into the pits of Moria!!!

Is this the version with the statue of Minas Tirith?

My mother spent E70 on it for me for Christmas, I know DVD’s are more expensive over here, but seriously thats some difference!

No, this is just the basic 4-disc EE version.
The one with Minas Tirith runs more.

I picked up the Special Gift set with Minas Tirith statue for $74 (Canadian) at Costco. It was cheaper than most other places, and I was there anyway.

Best Buy had a deal that if you purchased the theatrical version (which we did) and present the reciept at your purchase of the extended edition, you get $10 off.

I don’t think that DDD would pull something like that. Maybe they accidentally put the wrong discription on the item, but it actually is the EE box set?

Also, it looks like the description is for “The Lord of the Rings” cartoon only, not the other two cartoons. There’s no way that they could get away with getting people to pay $80 for just one DVD.

Man, I luvs me some Fry’s!

$20.99 for the 4-disc EE. They seem to always have some sort of great deal like this on release day. I also picked up Battle For Middle Earth (PC Strategy game) for $37.99 (normal retail $49.99). Go Fry’s!

Yeah, that looks like somebody screwed up. The price does seem in line with what DDD would charge, so it looks like they posted the wrong description. The UPC code is off by a digit, but otherwise it’s the one for the extended edition trilogy set (794043734724), and the price quoted is the list for that set ($119.95). I’d suggest anyone interested in ordering contact them by e-mail to correct that listing just to be sure, though.

Oh, and I picked up The Return of the King for $22.99 at a local retailer.

Anyone check the price for the ROTK EE DVD at Circuit City?

Yeah, I got it at Circuit City for $24.99 today.
