LOTR: ROTK trailer is up over at TORn - but for how long?

Dammit, it’s 9:02 (although I see the SDMB server clock is 10 minutes slow) and nothing on the LotR site. Where’s my trailer ?!

Where did you get the 9AM time from? What time zone?
I’m watching the 480x280 QT file from TORN (think I used the Swedish Mirror)

Brian

I see the links now. Dammit, all the mirrors are overwhelmed. :frowning:

N9IWP, someone at TORn’s message board quoted that time earlier today. Now, however, said TORn siblings are saying 3:00 p.m. EST, but whotheheck knows. Meantime, I’m getting that Dutch one, but it’s loading very slowly. What I can see however looks fabulously clear and beautiful. I love that eerie glowing green light from Minas Morgul!

[aside]Hey, where’s Fingolfin? We should be seeing him start to post right about now, in anticipation of ROTK. I haven’t seen him for I don’t know how long.

The trailer is now up at apple.com

It’s up at the official site!

When I checked Apple had only view options, not download. (Ya, I know you can get around this). The official sight didn’t have anything, but the non-flash version of the official sight had it (including download options)

Things will probably change by the time you read this.

Hmm… don’t hit me please, but am i the only one who was a bit dissapointed in “her”? i thought she should be alot bigger personally, Frodo is a hobbit and she didn’t look that much bigger than him.

Others have noticed. It is possible that is just her head.

Brian

If you want to download the file, the link on the apple page is to this file.

Sheesh, that’s what they call a “large” version? I want full screen! They can’t honestly expect us to wait 'till December, can they?

What really strikes me is the White Rider. In the book, I always pictured what Gandalf did to the Witch-King as a lightning bolt… But that is way cooler.

And Eowyn is still a hottie, but Galadriel looks even better than she did in the first one. I think it’s the smile.

Hmmm… 'twas better on the big screen.

In other news, rain is slightly damp.

Yah, 480x240 is less than overwhelming. Weren’t some of the other LotR trailers wider?

I’ve always wondered how you get around things like that, supposing it doesn’t fall foul of board rules, how would one go about getting around these restrictions?

Well, here’s the way I do it. You need to know a little HTML.
[li]Go to the page with the links to the movie you want to download.[/li][li]Go to your View menu and pick Page Source.[/li][li]Look for the link to the movie and size you want. If they used an image map, it’s a little harder, but generally you can find it by doing a quick search on the source code for “.mov” (or whatever the extension is for the thing you’re downloading).[/li][li]Copy the URL.[/li][li]Use a text editor to make a new HTML file. All the file needs to contain is this:[/li]

<HTML>
<A HREF="http://url.you.found/movie.mov">Download Me!</A>

[li]Save that file somewhere, say on your desktop since you’ll probably throw it away in about 10 seconds. Call it “test.html” or something.[/li][li]Use your browser to open that file. Use Open under the File menu, or drag the file to an open browser window, or whatever works for you.[/li][li]You now have a page with a right-clickable link. Right click it, and download the file.[/li]
Finally got to download the trailer yesterday. Phenomenal. I got chills on a itty bitty computer screen, so when I see it in the movie theater I’ll probably wet myself. Anyone know how long the movie is supposed to be? I’ve been hearing four hours. I’ve also been hearing of movie theatres showing FotR and TTT which ends at 12:01AM on Dec. 17 then showing RotK. If that happens in the Boston area, I’ll SO be there!

AmericanMaid, Harry Knowles of Ain’t It Cool News, who is usually reliable, says his spies say 3.5 hours.

Cite, a paragraph or two down the page.

Although I watched the trailer over and over at work yesterday, I had no audio. When I got home yesterday, I turned the volume up on the home computer and Mr. Pug and I ran it through about five times in a row. Absolutely awesome!

‘She’ is certainly going to make me jump, no matter how thoroughly I study the trailer.

I expected bigger, too, but I don’t think I’ll be disappointed. That rock wall could certainly be concealing quite a bit.

Anybody else get a chill from the look Gollum gives Sam?

When I showed the trailer to my wife, her comment on that look by Gollum was: “Ooooh-ooh-ooh…”

I loved the scrabbly, scrambling noise that “her” feet made coming down the tunnel - nicely animalistic and chilling.

Yes, PJ got pages of writing into that one look of Gollum’s. Ain’t movie making grand in the hands of a good director?

It looks evident that Merry will be in on the Dernhelm secret in the movie. Though how he could ride on the saddle pressed right into Dernhelm and not know would probably be a stretch.
