Two posts in the same year? Jeez you’re a bit of a chatterbox aren’t you?
It’s a sickness, I tell you. I just can’t seem to stop myself.
Well, then, you should probably post in this thread commemorating your very first post.
My name is Eggerhaus and I’m a lurker.
I hate to post this because it’ll bring up my 0.06 PPD a tad bit.
My workplace doesn’t filter the Dope and I work from 2000 to 0800 so most of my reading is done at 0200. I read all areas except the pit. The pit makes me feel ikky.
I’d post in this thread but I think all the other lurkers said what I wanted to much better than I can…so I’ll just go read some other thread now.

ETA: Wow, .05 posts per day. I’m more of a lurker than I thought.
I certainly qualify as a lurker given the OP’s criteria- hello compatriots! I have a fascination for those who lurk to a less than 0.1 ppd level. ** SpinyNorma** is the latest and greatest example. Another recent favourite of mine was Schizm who de-lurked to mine some comedy gold. ** Mike Lenehan** is AFAIK the ultimate SDSAB lurker, if such sub-categories will be considered.
My reason for lurking is that on preview my posts almost always sound disjointed and stupid. And on preview this one is no different. Sigh.
You’ve been around 9 years, you should know that you need to post a picture.
I’m such a lurker, I lurk in the lurkers’ thread.
Don’t mind me while I lurk away.
lurk lurk lurk
Holy cow – do I qualify as a lurker?
Bit of a lurker myself, and read for a long time before I joined up. Actually, I was a lurker on AOL as well…
Long story as to why I never posted and never joined until I did, but mostly it boils down to me moderating other forums as a paid job (I want the dot.coms back!) and for a long time, message boards felt like work, not fun.
Cheers,
G
I guess I qualify as a lurker as well with 0.43 ppd.
It was true until the SDMB started playing Mafia and opened a games room.
I’m hooked now, hooked I say.
They don’t know they’re paying me to Dope, silly!
raises hand Lurker.
I just… I don’t know, I’ll read a thread and either, like others have said, someone else has already said what I wanted to say - or else nobody else has said it, and I’d be the only one in the thread with that opinion, and people might argue and I’d have to keep coming back and arguing back and oh God then someone might Pit me and…
I just really hate getting into internet fights. Or even mild debates, often. So I don’t, generally. And I also don’t post “me too!”, and, well, it’s rare to see a thread where I have something to contribute that doesn’t fall into either someone’s-already-said-it or nobody’s-already-said-it-and-everyone-disagrees. Also, I have a habit of forgetting this place exists for several months at a time, then wandering back onto it and going “Hey, this board is interesting!” and resuming lurking…
[Edit: Oh, and Waldo Jeffers? As in “The Gift”? Awesome name.]
Most definitely a lurker since about 2000
But I look so much better in the imagination.
You should know about the imaginations of people in here. :dubious:

Yes, that’s how I know I come off better. Sure, I may be dressed in Spandex and carrying assorted devices of great deviance that way but that beats a rather hefty 49 year old in sweats and a Tshirt that’s almost certain to bear a mysterious stain from yet another in a series of battles with gravity.
Dammit, now I’ve ruined the mystery.
SpinyNorma, I’m in awe.
I’m a lurker for the same reasons as others have mentioned and some they have not:
- By the time I get to a thread, someone has already said what I was going to say.
- It doesn’t seem worth it to argue about it when my opinion differs.
- I’m enjoying a thread and fear that if I post I’ll kill it.
- I start to reply, then the phone rings or a client or partner wanders in so I have to abort.
- I’m at home and can’t break the child’s monopoly on the computer or I have to tend to activities of daily living.
I have been posting more lately at work, so maybe that means I’m getting more opinionated with age. Or maybe I’m just getting lazier at work.
I still qualify as a lurker: Join Date: 11-15-2005; Total Posts: 220 (0.24 posts per day). Just not on a par with Ms. SpinyNorma.
I think I posted in the last lurker thread, too. It really is kind of disturbing how much time I spend reading these boards without posting. I feel like I’m borderline stalking the regular posters or something. It’s good to know I’m not the only one, though!
I wish I posted more, as I think it would be fun to be part of an online community, but each time I promise myself I’m going to start posting more, it doesn’t happen. Apparently I am just as shy on message boards as I am in real life :(.
LONG time lurker here. As others have said, it’s almost creepy how much time I spend reading the boards, getting to know the members and all the inside jokes, without ever actually participating.
I was going to wait until free subscriptions kick in to start posting, but what the heck. If it doesn’t happen before June 19th, I’ll just drop back into Lurk Mode for a while until I get my voice back.
I gotta say…Every time I watch an episode of one of my fav shows, or see a good movie, or something interesting is on the news, I always run to the Dope to see what everyone here has to say about it.
So, thanks to everyone for that.
