Madonna - Hot or Not?

Not. She’s never done anything for me and this current look is her least appealing incarnation for me. And I generally have a thing for older women and skinny chicks, but all I see in those biceps is an unhealthy obsessiveness and vanity. Her arms look like an extension cord bunched into a condom.

Not hot. not even a little.

Perhaps – but she herself has made her overall persona, and not just her music, the focus of her career. And I have to agree with ianzin:

I understand some people don’t like her, and I even sort of understand why. I really connect with her music and find her very inspiring, so I just wanted to put another perspective out there.

I think she’s quite attractive for a 50 year old, but not nearly as hot as she was in the 90s. When she filmed the Metropolis-inspired Express Yourself and the super sexy Take a Bow, I think those were her hottest days–and best performances. Doesn’t matter how much Pilates she does… she really can’t keep up the energy of something like* The Girlie Show* or Blonde Ambition. I loved her in Die Another Day but the pink leotard/Olivia Newton John getup is from an era she lived–so retro doesn’t work–it just makes her look old.

 Great jumping jehosaphat! Did anyone, at any time, think that that was a good song or video? I only lasted 5 seconds…

Someone must have. It’s probably one of my favorite songs ever.

I’m not your bitch, don’t hang your shit on me

Heh. She’s talking about the haters, you know.

ETA: Also a bit revealing of the sense of humor people don’t think she has.

I think it’s a really good song; I’m a fan of a lot of Madonna’s music if not her personality.

The video is a little “modern dance”-y for my tastes, but I can appreciate how provocative it was at the time.

Respect to you for your views and your perspective, and I am all for a tolerant / forgiving / understanding outlook.

I would add one minor caveat though. There are people who have known great hardship, deprivation and difficulties in life (possibly more than Madge) but who have somehow emerged as the warmest, most gentle, selfless and fun-loving people you’ll ever meet (even without a vast personal fortune). There are others who have had, and continue to have, every good fortune and advantage, but who are nonetheless mean-spirited, spoilt and endlessly selfish. Tough times in early life are not necessarily either the root of, or excuse for, flawed, brat-like, selfish or joyless attitudes and behaviours later on.

I’m sure you are well aware of this, and it’s related to the ‘post hoc ergo prompter hoc’ fallacy you find in all the books on reasoning errors.

Back in '88 or so, I had an extremely vivid music-videoy dream where I banged Madonna, her legs over my shoulders-missionary style. It’s the only wet dream I ever had - Madonna basically popped my cherry.

Would I do her now? Despite my affection for adult, experienced females, no, for all the well-put reasons posted above.
