Johnny, why do you need to know my role? Why on earth would that be useful to town at this point?
I’d like to think that it is understandable to folks why I don’t think it is a good idea to reveal my role and/or other information at this time. I have already done enough damage by having to claim at all.
I accept that I will have to “prove myself” in coming days. I will, assuming that I survive.
If anyone truly thinks that in a “Baker Street” mafia there could either be no character of Sherlock Holmes, or that Holmes could be a role given to scum, well, you’re entitled to think that, but that’s pretty crazy.
In other news: unvote Silver Jan – for the moment anyway. She is sounding much less waffly at the moment.
TexCat: a clarification. Do you think that one or the other of gnarly and Scathachmust be scum?
I’m sorry. I’m rereadng my last post and it seems a little harsh, especially with “more and more I think you’re a terrible player”.
I don’t really think that and I’m sorry, Septimus, for saying that. I don’t mean anything personal and I know it’s just all a part of the game. I didn’t mean to come off sounding that harsh and I apologize to you.
I DO still think you have extremely weak reasonings for voting, however.
septimus: do you have any townie reads? What do you think of Mahaloth? I have to agree that your vote on Idle is very weak.
Idle: do you have any opinions about cases other than those on you?
Dizzy: any thoughts on the vote(s) on you?
Chronos: [more of a comment] You have made some pretty strong assumptions about my role, about which I have remained silent. I don’t like that post of yours.
Sorry, I thought for sure you claimed as scum, but I can’t find the game. Maybe it was a mini-mafia. What game was it on your board, where you signed up last and complained the whole game about not really wanting to play, you were going to quit after this game, and you were scum? I thought it was that game you claimed day one, maybe not?
I like this post, we all get so involved in the game that we tend to forget there are REAL people sitting and typing and giving their all to the game. I have been in tears over this game but I keep plodding along and doing my best because overall it is fun.
On emotions: It is very hard not to scream at the screen sometimes.
It is sooooo easy to get into tunnel vision in this game. Psychologically, it would make a fascinating study on how group dynamics mix with individual partial-information syndrome and lead to the exclusion of alternative ideas. Or something.
Someone said to me right when I first started playing that most people are Town, so look for Townies and you are more likely to find scum. That’s why I am not a fan of multi-vote games. I tend to look for more Town traits and those not doing it must be scum. It works a lot of the time but not always and I used to be killed very early on, not so much now though.
You are the one who is not thinking out through. You don’t suppose it’s possible for scum too have the same clue as you? And remember that scum have double clues. And certainly from my point of view, it’s possible that scum knew, because you are scum.
I think it possible and even likely, but by no means certain.
Let’s just nip that one in the bud. From the rules:
The only assumptions I can see that I’m making are that Sherlock Holmes is a power role, and that that role is an information-gathering one, both of which seem to me to be quite reasonable assumptions. If I’m making any other assumptions, I’m missing what they are: Please point them out.
Can I introduce you to the rules clarification post on PAGE 2 of this game which has been mentioned multiple times by multiple people? It includes as point number (2) in case you got bored after reading point number (1):
This one caught my eye as I was catching up. Astral starts off with a “me, too” over pizza’s case. That’s not too terrible – townies do it all the time – but it’s worth pointing out. This, by the way, is the first Daphne vote after pizza’s case. The timing looks pretty opportunistic – this vote really seemed to build momentum on the train. Then Astral points out that Daphne was the third vote on a bandwagon.
A bandwagon that Astral says is still his second preference.
Huh? I mean, if you’re going to vote for a player over a supposedly opportunistic vote on a bandwagon, then you’re saying that player is probably scum trying to drive a lynch train on a townie. Simultaneously pushing that bandwagon looks incredibly opportunistic.
