I’m not sure we can read “as many as possible groups” into “bloody.” Certainly I agree that it almost certainly means lots of night kills, but that could be multiple Vampires, extra Wolf kills, multiple Vigilantes, or just a complete lack of power-blocking roles. For example, I would think 3 kills per night would be pretty bloody, and that’s just a normal Wolf kill, a Vamp kill, and Vig kill. Now imagine that there is no Cabal to block any of them. And if there’s no Cabal, there may be no Witches, etc.
In any case, what I’m trying to say is, I think “bloody” = more nightkills, but not necessarily more groups. Given the delayed info reveal, I suspect it will be several Days before we have any real idea what Sides are actually in the game.
throws rice, cheers, drinks too much champagne, dances the Chicken Dance
To business…
Dio is proposing the presence/absence of specific roles. Zsofia is citing specific power facets from a game that we’re not playing. I don’t trust myself or any of you to accurately crawl inside Pleonast’s head with respect to what was or was not carried over from the last game, or what is or is not being introduced with this game.
I’m not trying to coin yet another suspicion acronym for “eyebrow of foreboding”. For all I know I am merely reacting to approaches that differ from my own. I am an opinionated person. Further, I do not see how me being told to keep my foreboding to myself because it might quell discussion is anything other than hypocritical.
We can’t accurately crawl inside Pleo’s head, but we can sure try!
To put it another way, what do you want to talk about Tonight, if not the game setup and strategies that would come into play with slightly different setups?
Again, I ask, why would a scummy **Dio or Zsofia **say those things? To what end are they trying to achieve, and what purpose would they serve?
Expect anything.
I believe it was **CatInASuit ** who said that in a game ages ago, (which I didn’t give him proper credit for then ) and it’s a mantra that I’ve tried to play by ever since. It’s damn good advice.
There are certain things about this set-up that I expect, but I am not going to assume I’m right. With 31 players, I think it’s possible that all of the roles are in play. I would expect the separate factions - town, wolves, undead, and cabal - to each be more numerous in order to balance. I expect Pleonast to keep his word about the extra bloody setup. A wolf kill and a vamp kill isn’t bloody enough. I expect there will be at least one wolf kill, at least one vamp kill, at least one vig kill option, and some one off kill roles. I expect there will be a LOT of crossfire.
I will point out in that game, the Cabal did nothing of note.
Given that the number of players have gone up, I would gamble that the number of Cabal have gone up and that will probably include their powers as well.
Btw, in case everyone hadn’t noticed yet, the game is called
The Cabal strikes back.
If there are no Cabal in this game, **Pleonast ** is a true gastard mod. If the Cabal exists, then so do the witches. Those are the only roles I will be expecting to see in this game.
I would not put it past **Pleonast ** to lose one of the scum sides entirely, just for kicks, although we won’t find that out until later.
So the same could be said for discussing set up. There are so many variations and conditions it is not unthinkable for some one to slip up and post some information they should not, or propose a condition based on hidden information. As such you could possibly argue that the call and drive to discuss the set up is a fishing expedition by scum to see who slips up and reveals something they should not or suggests a game configuration with one element stated so certainly that it indicates some knowledge rather than a guess.
The references to the prior game could add to the confusion, and as far as I know confusion helps scum. Do we really think our mod has not reviewed what he said in the prior game and changed everything to keep us on our toes.
Seams a bit odd in proportion to the comments made.
Change everything? No. Change some things? Of course. I fail to see how it’s bad to talk about what may and may not have changed.
Cookies made an arguably controversial statement. How is ten percent of the players responding to it out of proportion?
Also, NBC, I would venture to guess that the scum have more to lose by making slip ups and accidentally revealing something in their posts. It’s a risk I’m willing to take. Aren’t you?
If we were missing one set of scum, would that not cut down on the slaughter rate quite significantly.
Well unless the remaining scum factions get multiple night kills.
If I had intended to use any of the the “s” words, I would have used the “s” words. I have no qualms whatsoever, at all, of calling scummy/suspicious/shameful as I see scummy/suspicious/shameful. “Silly” isn’t really in my Mafia vocabulary.
In my world view, there are three categories of destructive forces at work in these games. There’s fate, there’s the force of foe against foe, and there’s the force of self-destruction. We can’t control how the dice of fate role, but a sense of foreboding can indeed come from either of the other two.
As we all know, it is Night zero. I don’t yet have the context to distinguish between “scummy” vs “anti-town”. I have foreboding, unease, fear.
I fear the destructive potential of prematurely ruling out the existence of any potential role. I fear the destructive potential of relying on the Conspiracy 1 set up to help gain bearings in this set up.
As for the hypocrisy: My posts are part of the discussion and have facilitated further discussion. The implications of Shadowfacts’ post can also be interpreted as an attempt to quell that discussion, which is hypocritical considering his problem with my posts is that they might quell discussion.
What do I want to talk about Tonight? Anything, including my reactions to other people’s posts.
What motivations might Dio, Zsofia have for saying what they said? I don’t know yet, but I have some subtle aforementioned fear about what those motivations might be.
Nahh still on the virtual London Prides here, although they are starting to sit heavy in the belly, maybe time to switch to a Macallan or several. And on that note, the working day is done, and it really is beer o’clock. Later.
Firstly ladies and gents, please remember that this is Mafia.
You might (if you’ve played before) view this as a chance to settle scores from the last game. Maybe a particularly subtle smudge from a scuzzy scumball led to your hanging, or you felt unduly picked on by a townie who hounded you into a slip of a tongue and a date with a noose. Perhaps you’re looking at them now, and thinking “I’ll get you.”
Grudges are Bad, ok? They put blinkers on you, and if you wind up leading a successful crusade against someone who turns out to be on your side, what are you going to say, “Sorry?” When your vendetta winds up costing your team victory?
Check your grudges at the door please. Clear, objective thought is what is needed.
Ahhh… the game can now begin, officially. You know, I’m starting to build up a grudge against MHaye just for this little speech. What could he possibly be trying to hide, behind it? It seems like a mask of useful information that’s being added to this game to hide MHaye’s Inner Furriness! I know it must be true, because I think he said it it in some other game where he was scum!
That’s a really obnoxious thing to throw out there, Cookies. You’re opening up the floor for anyone to smudge Zsofia and I? You’ve got a bad feeling about me, but don’t have any reasons… but you’re willing for anyone else to stick their neck out?
I mean, I’m in favor of bandwagons as much as anyone else, but I don’t set out a wishlist for other people to build 'em.
