Yeah, we lost too many wolves too fast and after a point there wasn’t much we could do.
Man I can’t believe it’s over. Good game all and way to go Town.
Woot Woot. Way to go town.
Oh, and most importantly, thanks Pleo.
Ok, I think I found the last toggle to open the boards up. What a pain!
You guys don’t know how badly I was dying to tell you all that Zsofia was the other remaining wolf (My last investigation, right on the night of my demise).
Nice game everyone. It was lots of fun.
At first I thought this was in reference to targeting Fluiddruid with the Cabal nightkill, but then I remembered that you weren’t spoiled yet when you said it. Was it in reference to the whole “There is only one Caballero…me!” thing?
That was what made me swear at you. After everything I did to try and keep you alive too. I had the whole town believing that I was Cabal.
Still it was fun.
Oh and, I had you so nailed as Cabal. I just had to say it. SO nailed.
WHEW! That’s a heck of a game, there, Pleonast. A couple of observations, having browsed the Wolf, Moderator, and Witch threads and the Forbidden Thread as well:
1. Now that the game is over: my real opinion is that if the Wolves had decided to suicide or something like it to throw a victory to the Cabal, that would have been a perfectly legit play. We, as Town, had to account for that possibility and try to keep a Wolf victory alive long enough to keep them from doing that. Didn’t really want to say that out loud, though, and thanks, Drain Bead et al, for not doing that.
2. The game seems pretty well balanced to me, Pleo. I noticed you asked for thoughts on the setup in a lot of the Forbidden stuff, so here are mine, and they are few and minor:
- I think the problem of players using mod-kills to their advantage, while legit if you allow it, creates some inelegant situations. I am thinking of both this game and the Simpletown game where this came into play. What would everyone think of a simple caveat added to future game rules (I know I’m going to advocate for including it in the next ruleset I moderate):
All mod-kills are, as the name suggests, at the sole discretion of the Moderator(s). The Moderator reserves the right to forego a mod-kill if (s)he believes that applying one would be contrary to the general spirit and intent of the rules.
- I think the Undead had an unusually tough row to hoe. If the game could be said to be unbalanced, I’d say it was against them and in favor of the other three factions. With two Vampires, the chances of the Necro getting killed were astronomically high, and once the Necro died, so did the Undead’s chances. I think, at the bare minimum, making the Necro Vamp-immune might prevent the sort of thing that happened here.
3. This is a hard game. By the end, I was sort of figuring Zosfia as Wolf, because she made that funky late-game move pushing votes on Pollux, which she might not have been inclined to do if he was her fellow. But it’s easy to second guess something like that, and because no one has perfect information, the chains of evidence are shorter and fuzzier. Lots of fun, but very hard.
4. Couple of folks disagreed with my very early claim on Day Two, so I wanted to address it while I could. I knew that pedescribe would know I had his number. I wanted to head off any chance that pedescribe would himself claim Magician, and say I had attacked him. I note that the Wolves subsequently decided to try to claim first in the event that something similar happened.
5. So when’s the next one?
Well, FWIW, I only made that comment after talks of conceding had ensued on the Cabal boards.
I think I see where you are trying to go with this one but the arbitraryness of it seems to give to much wiggle. Of course being a CPA I kind of like to live my life in little pre-ordained boxes so take it as you will. Look at this game, letting Z off the hook certainly hurt everyone but the wolves. Not that, in retrospect, it would have made any difference.
Yeah. I have had enough of a break that I am ready to go again.
Who’s got a game ready? [threat] Don’t make me start up another one. I will do it, even if I have to rerun and old game.[/threat]
That was fun, even though I’m a moron!
Ah, so that’s how you chose your name on the secret boards.
If I get a chance then in your honor I will be DS.
And you are not nearly as much of a moron as I am.
I BEG to DIFFER!
The beginning of the end was the one-night-kill.
I think cabal may have managed a bit better if Darth and I did not get ourselves killed quite so foolishly and quickly, if Nanook had not made his ´donñt we all have a secret power´slip (which was a genuine misunderstanding rather than letting slip our super power) and we hadnñt panicked into blowing our night kill on Fluid. Mind you from the wolf boards it looks like the wolves were contemplating snacking on Cookies soon.
Apart from that cookies and Pollux did a stirling job of flying low and Nanook did a great job of pretending to be a witch. All he was missing was a sombrero dressed as a witches hat for an avatar.
So who does have the next game?
Tell you the honest to god truth - when I vote changed late in the day? I wasn’t “pushing” votes onto Pollux or anything of the sort. Just poor play. I think I internalized the “act town” thing too much - when I saw there’d be no lynch in the case of a tie I panicked, but not because I was a Wolf. Honest mistake, not scum play.
Kat and I are close, but we’re running ours on the other board. I’m still barely past the pre-planning with the Evil Dead game, so that’s not ready. Hopefully someone here has something in mind.
Two burning questions:
- So which one of you assholes killed me?
- What prompted the investigation on me?
I chose all of my Necro choices via dice roll, and I’d like to think I would have gotten away with it if it weren’t for you meddling kids, but I have a sinking feeling I overplayed my hand. I tend to be a suspicion-drawing player even as Town, so when I attempt to emulate my usual behavior I always worry that it would end up biting me in the ass.
