Mafia: Conspiracy 2: The Cabal Strikes Back! [Game Over]

It is not yet noon, but I don’t care and could use a stiff drink.

In light of what is likely being plotted around Cecil Cove toNight, I’ll have a Red Death, and make it a double in a pint glass.

Hijack: About 15 years ago, some friends and I were spending a few days at a hotel in Sandusky, OH (Woo! Cedar Point!). We got to the hotel, checked in, dropped off out stuff and then headed to the bar with the intention of getting good and stinkin’ drunk.

“Bartender! Red Deaths for my friends and I, please!”, I said.

Only one problem…no one on the entire bar staff had ever heard of a Red Death. We explained how to make one (with much bickering between us – after all, there many differing opinions on what goes into a “real” Red Death), and were told that yes, they could make them, but they’d be expensive…like, two dollars.

Since five bucks was the norm back home, yes, that’d be fine. Keep 'em coming.

The next night we went into the bar, and what was on the sign as you walked in?

SPECIAL TONIGHT: RED DEATH – $2.50

Thus my contribution to the state of Ohio.

I didn’t mean it to come out like that, my bad. I just meant that people are going to be skeptical, but if you’re telling the truth (and I assume you are, it’d be a very bold claim to make on Day 1), you’ll be verified soon enough. I actually meant it as supportive, sorry it didn’t come out that way.

I’ve really been thinking about the NBC thing, though. I mean, I know he’s a newb and all, but seriously, who doesn’t know what the vote counts are at the end of the Day, and says they’re voting to prevent a tie while causing a tie?

Awesome story, Hal!

When I used to bartend in college, there was a gal that ordered a similar drink she called a Sloe Comfortable Screw against the wall… Sloe gin, southern Comfort, vodka and orange juice. I never added the “up against the wall” stuff, but the webtender says its Galliano (Harvey Wallbanger, never heard of either). It can also be had with Satin Pillows (Frangelico) the Hard Way (whiskey).

She said it quite seductively, so I usually gave it to her free. That’s probably why.

Wow, I have a couple of crazy days at work and I miss all of the excitement. I got to admit reading through I was kinda wondering if I was going to make it, Of course I also wondered how people were getting a pass for voting for a lurker while I was getting votes for proposing the strategy (and following through). I think that is where I’m going to focus my attention on my rereads but I’m still way hooked up at work I was just curious about the end results from Day 1.

On to the drinking, I’m having a rough week both in the game and at work some one pass me a Mind Eraser or eight but none of that vodka I want Everclear. I won’t be back until Sunday sometime due to work and installing a sprinkler system.

School has started for me, so my posting levels will drop, but I’ll definitely keep up with reading.

So, anybody want to go cage dancing toNight?

Dear god. Mind Erasers. I’ve never been so drunk. I couldn’t drink kahlua for years after those things. (hint, drinking them on empty stomach, and eating microwaved “eggrolls” may be counterindicated). The result of that incident was the only time our suitemates cleaned the shared bathroom.

I do find myself somewhat concerned with the NBC thing.

At post 881, Darth had 4 votes, brewha had 2, and Oredigger had 2. CIAS, in post 884, mentions three people who’ve had or have votes on them at this point, and picks Oredigger from his list making it 4 to 3. Posts 889 and 890 gives two posters who will not allow a tie. In post 894 I vote for Darth, trying to make a tie at the last minute less likely, making it 5 to 3. At that point it was Darth up by 2. NBC, 6 minutes later, in post 894, with 3 minutes remaining, votes for Oredigger to prevent a tie (5 to 4. Mhaye and story both vote for Darth in the final minutes, sealing his fate (7 to 4).

As far as I can tell, Oredigger was never in the lead, or tied for it. There were a couple of points where he was behind by only one vote, but when NBC posted he was down by two votes, and there were two people watching to prevent a tie. I can’t quite follow how voting for Oredigger would’ve ever reduced the chance for a tie. Certainly not after post 881, let alone after post 894.

Agreed, shameful indeed.

Oh, and by the way, who did you have your vote on at the end of the day?

Hmmm…

Huh, cool, someone else who likes Mind Erasers! My favorite drink to get fucked up very quickly.

And I just have to add because I can.

Is there some witch coven/convent caucus contractual covenant causing casting ceasing cabal contributions contradictory con (ok that one’s a stretch) cabal continuing?

Peek

Are you asking if the Witches can still act if we kill all the Cabal? Because we could in the last game.

And I’m going to vote pro-dotchan cage-dancing.

Personally, I think my comment at the time sums it up nicely:

You are awesome

Wow, it’s nice and quiet in here for once.

::Brings out cage from last game::

Here you go dotchan; One cage for your, and definitely our, enjoyment

Cage dancing, well why not, seams to be the only thing happening here tonight, so may as well get some discussion going whilst we sup our ales and watch Dotchan in a cage (a he or a she?).

As for my last minute voting, I think it should be noted there were several others who jumped in there at the last minute, people who did not have votes out for others and decided to ensure Darth swung. Now as it turned out this was a good thing, but at the time they did not know who Darth was, well maybe they did know he was not one of them. It seams like they were just hanging around waiting to ensure the vote did not go to Oredigger.

Incidentally I was going to respond to Fluid druids post back in 848, but apparently I get defensive, which is a scum tell according to Fluid. Well it is a scum tell if it is me, for others it is a sign of being townie, as we see back in 740 from Fluid

Quote fluid in post 740
I just don’t feel it. CIAS is acting a bit hostile and reactionary, but based on my past experience, I can really only assume it’s defensive townie behavior

So I guess defending oneself is OK if Fluid has a reason to like you, bad if Fluid is trying to fabricate a case against you.
Inconsistencies like that could make someone suspicious.

As for I support lynch a lurker eh???,

Quote=Fluid post 848
Further his whole contribution to strategy seems to be echoing ‘lynch lurkers’ - strong stuff for someone who didn’t post for five days, and has posted so little of real consequence regardless.

Well ignoring the 50 odd post I have made which have included a fair bit of meaningful discussion, about my only comment on lynch the lurker was back on the 15th where I stated I thought it carried huge risks by accidentally getting powerful pro town roles that are lying low, and fluid even responded to that in post 302, but that gets left out.

Quote=Fluid post 302
IMHO ‘lynch lurkers’ is always batted around early in a game. I won’t say it’s a bad strategy but it’s not because lurkers are more likely to be scum, it’s because lynching players who don’t participate that much, even if they end up being town, isn’t as great of a loss as lynching your top contributors unnecessarily.

That whole post 302 points to another contradiction in Fluids logic. In 302 she says that lynching lurkers is OK if it is clearing out non participants. Yet in 848 we have her calling for my blood because in her perception I am deliberately lying low.

Quote Fluid post 848
but I do think he’s intentionally lying low

So what is it, even after the suggestion that lying low could be pro town in some cases, you say get rid of non participants and go on to say lurking is not a scum tell, yet now you say deliberately lying low is a scum tell.

As for the rest of it, it makes as much sense as my initials being NBC which is a cable channel, QED I must be channeling Cabal.

I think at the end of the day scum had twigged that a low number of meaningful votes was required to get someone to the top of the list and thus triggering a role claim. I had one random vote already, so why not float it out and see what comes back, maybe pressure me into an early role claim. For Darths lynch, he had his own vote and did not appear to be coming back, so was an easy start for the wolves to get someone else up in the gallows. I say look for wolves in the early Darth accusers.
Where are the Cabal, wel they could have been jumping trying to save Darth, but with such a low vote count it would be noticable and pretty suicidal. Hell maybe they saw he was a gonner and voted against him.

As town we need to be very aware that the few votes required to get an early role claim is not good, and we need to keep several targets for a lynch under scrutiny at anyone time.

This is just…well too weird to be able to discuss at night. My first game allowing this even. Apologies for not casting a vote at the end, I got called into my manager’s office for a good long talk about this current project of mine.

I’m all girl, fellas. And cute, Asian, and single.

Did I mention I also like video games and sports?

…and rats, hoisted by my own petard. Oh, well. No harm in a little fanservice, right?

Climbs into the cage and dances very badly, because she sucks at this kind of thing.

Cite?

Go take a gander at her web site.

She’s got to have something going on.

[Weblink]Shameless promotion of fellow happening doper[/weblink]

And of course actual thread looks different than preview, of course.

I meant that she is happening, not me. I would only be happening in the loosest sense - along the lines of a train wreck.

And although it is night strategy is still allowed, right, so.

Assuming that not all of us will make it through the night is it at all helpful to get our suspicions down before Day break?

Pleo said that this would be bloody. To date we’ve got 20 pages and one death. I know, I know, we haven’t had an active night cycle yet. So if in fact all heck is getting ready to break loose wouldn’t it behoove the town to get some thoughts down?

Another two cents.
