Mafia - Game in progress [Edited title]

And I honestly don’t know how to respond to the whole I voted on Diggit before he claimed. Isn’t that the point? You vote on players you are suspicious of, and unvote when you get more information?

I’ll also admit to not knowing what that’s about.

I posit that there are scum/3rd parties who voted for Diggit prior to his claiming, because scum and third parties are going to be hard-pressed to resist an opportunity to slap a vote down on someone who is a member of a different faction, particularly a Mason advocating an avant garde idea like all of the Mason’s claiming early. He is all-but-confirmed Town at this point, and was pretty much in that state once a cycle had passed with no one going public against his Mason claim.

Once some time had passed with no counter-claim, I went back and looked at who voted for him before he claimed. It is my attempt to turn a pig’s ear (that one of our Mason’s ended up claiming so early, for defending a barn message and strategy that is valid but non-traditional) into a hopefully a silk purse. This particular pig’s ear seems to be quite stubborn though, since we have a dead Mason who may still be alive and confirmed Town if he’d followed Diggit’s suggestion and my litmus test turned out to be incorrect as far as Mahaloth was concerned. I still think it is a viable litmus test though.

I’m as confused as anyone about the zombies. I can’t seem to find any pattern to their arrival. Not all vanillas, not all lynches, etc. The good news though is that they don’t seem to be able to affect much of what we do other than talking.

I’m more concerned about the number of night kills we still have going on. With the Vig dead, I had hoped we would be down to two per night, but as early as Night 2 we found that wasn’t the case. I wonder too about a backup Vig but then why only two kills on Night 3? Did someone get blocked?

Hmmm, that reminds me. Wasn’t it Suburban who claimed to have gotten the strange message during Night 1? Has no one else received that message since?

Yeah your test may be valid if you were barking up the right tree, but we have real data to go on here. You are trying to opportunistically vote me for voting someone who was acting non traditional… If you go back my vote on Diggit was because he was trying to get the Masons to claim. I was 100% against that happening so early in the game and questioned his motives. That’s why I voted him…where is the anti-town play there?

It seems like YOU are the one fishing in a place there isn’t even water.

Real data = finding out what was up with Lightfoots slip? Why is it that you (cookies) are conveniently letting that one go with no explanation

How am I letting anything go? Because I’m not voting for her? She’s an intelligent player. She doesn’t need a bunch of votes against her to know that she should be thinking long and hard about claiming right now.

If she’s a town power role, then the explanation that you’re wanting would not be free. If she’s a town power role, then it is true that the cat is already out of the bag. But maybe there are kittens still inside that are worth protecting.

If she’s a town power role, it is absolutely a valid scum strategy to let her live because she’d get heat just because she survived.

I’ve been thinking long and hard about Suburban’s alleged note as well. We’ve not received any similar testimony from anyone else or any other clues about what it may have meant or where it came from. And that is bothersome.

I would have expected since there were only 2 kills on N3, that someone might have gotten a note on N3 as well. I too am surprised that no note went out.

I’ve noticed that we have not heard a peep from ** pizza ** since the barn note
Is it possible that someone ‘used him up’ ( I seem to recall he was losing parts) to their own advance?
Or do Zombies have a ½ life?

** Vote babale

Vote Suburban
**

I have not seen anything to negate my previous suspicions

  • I am not ignoring the questions that some have for me- I’m waiting for a few more players to join in the conversations before I address them *

The lack of participation is getting frustrating.

My week is about to get really busy. I wanted to see what transpired today before placing a vote, but it looks like no one is participating.

Vote: Lightfoot
I know you said you weren’t ignoring my question, but I kind of would like an answer before I give you a pass on today. I will be back before EOD, so I’ll take my vote off if I’m satisfied

Vote: Babale
I’ve read the cases on Babale over the last couple of days, but I was focused elsewhere, so I was willing to give him a pass, but at this point, he’s lurking at best…and it doesn’t look good.

My last is:
Vote: Cookies

You’ve been up my rear end for days now because of the vote I placed on D2, but on D2 I went back to look at your voting record. We had a tie most of the day, and you completely stayed out of it, and didn’t have an opinion/vote on either of the top candidates Chucara/Choie/texcat. Almost every other player in the game was participating in that lynch, and you had a random (at that time) vote on Stan. Care to explain why you didn’t want to weigh in on the active lynch candidates?

Without much new information, I am going to repeat my vote from Yesterday.

Vote: Suburban
He resisted voting for Stan until the end.
He claimed the mysterious message from N1 that no one else has received.

I’ve not been following this thread, to be perfectly honest.

I got an email notification since I’m still subscribed, and it mentioned something about lack of participation. If it were that bad I’d be happy to read the thread and offer my opinion, but it doesn’t look that bad.

I notice my name has been mentioned. I looked back to see why I’d still be the subject of conversation, saw I was asked a direct question, and looked back and saw my name in the writeup.

You do not need to believe me, but there’s a part in the writeup about “pizzaguy involved”.

Someone is sending you on a wild goose chase. I haven’t been following the game. I’m dead and the ideas I have had were rejected. I was and still am a vanilla townie, so my interest dropped off.

If you have any other questions I’d be happy to answer them. If you really need me to do the long read and offer an opinion I will, but I have no vote and no leads so no one is compelled to listen to me.

News of my zombification meaning anything other than I can talk is greatly exaggerated.

If I were still an active and indeed, anti town participant, I’d be a lot more involved with actively discussing and shaping minds.

The fact that I haven’t done that is your evidence I’m just another dead guy. WIFOM, whatever.

Even when I’ve been caught dead to rights I still try to influence minds and mess with people. If I stop doing that it means I’m not playing.

If you think my late vote on Stanislaus was suspicious, I suppose I can’t really argue the point too much, as it’s a matter of opinion; however, I do take exception to you describing it as held off “until the end”. I placed vote #8 on Stan out of 12. This was in Post 1122, in a Day that started with Post 963 and ended with Post 1233. So in a Day that was 270 Posts long, my vote came in the 159th Post. On a Day that began at 2:00 PM EST on 2/9 and ended at 2:00 PM on 2/14, my vote came at 3:41 PM on 2/12. I wouldn’t exactly call that “resisting voting until the end”; it was barely past the midpoint of the Day. And I’d like to point out that Red Skeezix, our Town Cop and presumably the person who wrote the note telling us all that **Stan **was a Wolf, didn’t vote for him until well after I did…last I checked his “resisting voting until the end” didn’t make him Scum…
As far as the “mysterious message”: Why do you think that anyone else should have received it? Obviously, there was a combination of actions/powers that resulted in that message being sent. What makes you think that the same combination of events should necessarily have repeated itself?

Pizzaguy: I believe pretty much everything you said, including the bit about the wild goose chase, and don’t think you really need to go and through the last thousand posts or whatever since you zombied (unless you really want to).

My question for you is this: did you receive any kind of notification from Storyteller when you were zombied, other than the post in this thread?

Yes, I received a private message telling me to keep my eye peeled on the thread after I died, but before I resurrected.

It means that my resurrection was either a planned event, which doesn’t quite jive with what I’m reading about the inconsistent nature of zombie appearances, or that someone used a nighttime action on me to zombify me.

What’s puzzling to me is what purpose it would serve. If I were sitting in your shoes, I’d immediately suspect that the zombies were part of an anti-town cult.

But I can’t vote, my alignment hasn’t changed, I can’t really influence the game except by talking and that’s precisely why I eventually “died” of boredom.

I can tell you directly, being a zombie doesn’t make you anti-town. Doesn’t give you any abilities whatsoever, at least not in my case. I can’t vote against you and I can’t do anything. There is no hidden win condition for us zombies. None that I’ve been informed of.

There’s nothing to it except we can talk if we want to. Which, you know, if I hadn’t died so early, might be interesting. But it happened before I could really get into this game, we were still discussing game theory, not really talking about anything too specific to this game. Difficult to engage when you haven’t become emotionally invested in the game yet.

I have been thinking about this, and honestly it shouldn’t be my call to make, but it’s tuesday and honestly I don’t want everyone to have to back off at the last minute. So, please consider unvoting Babale

No, if you can’t figure out why, I won’t spell it out for you.

Well that’s one less missing piece of the puzzle, though the player is still missing from the conversation.

Unvote Babale
