[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

Probably.

Longsword to choie
Staff to Tanaer
Healing potion to Tanaer

(bleached)

I find this comment curious, since I know that I have had no contact with ** Visorslash **

How about the ability to make certain my theory was right once I recognized the pattern? Would it really have been smart, back Yesterday Night when I first noticed the pattern, to blurt out “*Hey everyone, the triple votes seem to be following Normal around!!!” before waiting to confirm the pattern?

Bolding mine. While I’m no fan of this private behind-the-scenes machinations, I think this observation is a bit rich coming from someone with a grand total of 28 posts in the game.

[QUOTE=GuiriEnEspaña]
So was it lilflower then?
[/QUOTE]

Guys, we know glee has a double vote, and he took over from lilflower, who (heaven knows) didn’t do anythng to “level up” to the role of Knight. Why is it a surprise that s/he must’ve been one to start with?

Normal, I am a little surprised that you didn’t notice the triple-voter pattern way before I did. Were you just feeling incredibly lucky that all your lynch votes won out?

[joke]
Well, I had talked it over with my scum buddies, and we all agreed that was the best way for gnarly to reveal his role.
[/joke]

Serious answer: town knows he can kill. He’s already told us that. Why on earth would he tell scum the name of his freaking class? If they can change classes like we can, why feed them that information?

By PMing me and somebody else he trusts, we know for later if we need, without telling scum any specifics right now.

That was about the only bit of information he could have told me, besides whatever specifics there are to his class that I can’t guess.

And it’s moot anyway, cuz he didn’t PM me.

I really don’t understand your outrage over this.

Oh, bite me.

What an asshole thing to say.

You think that’s likely? In a game that we’ve been told can be played like regular Mafia, you think it’s likely that the Scum could all change classes to one with an extra kill, and thereby gain as many extra kills as there are Scum? I think that’s so unlikely as to be not worth worrying about.

Unless you, or the somebody he trusts, happen to be Scum; then it’s revealed to them without helping the Town much at all. And gnarly’s death told the world the name of his role, anyway, so keeping that particular bit of information mostly-secret-but-known-to-some-in-case-he-dies was fruitless.

That’s because I’m not outraged. I am confused by people’s strategic choices, and frustrated because the way people are choosing to play creates a lot of noise that makes it hard to figure out what’s going on.

I’m sorry for my contributions to that noise, then. I’m hoping you’ve seen that I’m at least trying to find scum as well, right?

Yes and no. I sort of noticed the last couple of days, but the first day I wasn’t even on the winning bandwagon (before the triple vote) and the second day there was no triple vote, so I never really thought of it in those terms. I doubt anyone’s really trying to frame me, either. For one thing there were two triple votes placed during day two that had nothing to do with my own votes. I don’t know, though, maybe someone’s getting some lulz out of it.

Things are pretty much to the point where I’m hoping the town is getting outplayed by some of the really active players, because if the scum team is like scathach and Septimus and somebody I’ll be pretty pissed off at life. But I would vig scathach tonight, if I could.

And I’m going to make one last appeal to the neutrals out there. gnarly might have saved himself (at least in my eyes) if he hadn’t tried to keep up the pretense that he might be town while playing like he was interested in nothing but his own skin. If you help the town (even if behind the scenes) then you stand a much better chance of not being mistaken for scum.

There are 15 players remaining and I think I count 8 individual actions in the dusk color, possibly more. Would a mass claim of actions, class or role be worthwhile at this point or at any point going forward? Wouldn’t knowing who was doing what and why help determine some motivation, even if it’s just an alibi?

@ Septimus, how do you feel about losing gnarly?

Thanks, Septimus. It was so nice to wake up to see this post, and feel, well, a bit trusted.

One of Pizza’s PMs to me mentioned trading items. Does anyone want a broadsword or a ring for a musical instrument (glares at Glee)? I have to survive another Day & a half, but I’m hoping.

I find someone lying about whom they’ve had contact with concerning too.

Why would scum be restricted from class changes like anyone else? There are classes that can be changed to that have kill possibilities.

Oh, and re the mass claim - I’m game. I did the 150 points to Phere. I’m not so very proud of it as I’m worried about the king, but I woke up all bleary eyed with 5 minutes to dusk & remembered I hadn’t made an action, without remembering my musings about the king. I’m still very confused about it - I really want that demon to die. I really don’t want the king to die if he’s still in there. I could go berserk and hurt him more, but I want to switch back to fighter so I can be a bard.

Man that sounds confused. I really shouldn’t post first thing in the morning before properly waking up!

I think what I was trying to say is - I’m currently not going to hurt Phere anymore, because I’m worried about the king. I’m letting you guys know that I could, on the off chance someone had a really convincing case about why we need it. Otherwise I’m moving bard-ward.

I’d already guessed that gnarly was 3rd-Party and had killed Gadarene. Earlier he’d exchanged PM’s with me, was reluctant to share secrets but did say he was Ninja. (I don’t know if that was before or after he upgraded to Assassin.) He told me what his items were. I told him I thought he’d killed Gad and didn’t blame him; he denied it. I regret not using my Healing Potion on him, but it probably would have only given him brief respite. Frankly, I was somewhat surprised to see so many Attacks on him – why didn’t these Attackers just vote to Lynch?

I thought Lynching Visorslash was the “percentage play,” at least given the three wagons we were presented with. I’m afraid others treat my views as a contrarian indicator. :dubious: Maybe I should only vote at the last minute (via robot since I’m usually asleep at EOD).

Pizza’s color is sometimes tricky, and I wasn’t too surprised the darkly colored Mosier flipped Good. Frankly, I have some fear the whitely colored Resurrectees might flip Evil.

My own “secret powers” have been weakish and poorly spent. I might reveal more privately but, unfortunately, the only players with whom I developed any PM rapport were Gadarene and Gnarly, now both out.

The person who contacted me, trusts light foot. So I am willing to.

What the fuck? You post 28 times throughout the whole game (and I don’t believe you’re even a sub), then you deign to make a reappearance and harp on us for not playing the game? And my comment noting this was worth a “bite me” and “asshole”?!

You’re awfully cranky. Or hella defensive. I wonder which.

I think someone’s either trying to screw with our heads and, as a side effect, screw with your reputation. There was a Day not too long ago (relatively speaking) where several people were suspicious of you, and I think that’s what Triple Voter Dude/Dudette is or was trying to take advantage of.

I wouldn’t cry about Scathach, but at least septimus showed up and voted me an object, which by the way, thank you septimus!

No prob, I’ll cop to one of the 100hp attacks on gnarlycharlie. I figured him for third party and I was going to attack either him or Visorslash. Coin came up heads, so gnarlycharlie got the rather feeble blow. (I am not, shall we say, very optimized for fighting.) I also knew there were a bunch of other Townies planning on attacking him, and I figured I might as well help even though I thought there was a possibility he genuinely killed Gad due to presumed scummitude.

Frankly, this is my greatest fear of the game.

I don’t know how to say this, but please, why can’t you just leave me alone? I understand you think I’m scum, and for what I’m not entirely sure, but if you want to kill me, lynch me. I’d rather go out that way, then succumbing to the 50+ attacks that have come my way.

Also, there is no need to be so hostile, it’s just a game. (directed at people fighting)

Will you please stop lecturing other people on hostility? It’s like getting lectured against taking drugs from Cheech & Chong.

Similarly, Storyteller spent several paragraphs harping on us for not playing the game the way s/he wants us to, after basically not participating in the game at all. I mean 28 posts (29 now I suppose) in two months?! You’re darn right I’m going to call him/her on that.

Hypocrites make my teeth hurt.
