[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

It sure looks that way, doesn’t it.

Because I like him. I don’t see any evidence that he’s scum, other than a disappointing lack of presence in the Day and I didn’t see anyone who I felt was town who I also thought was in danger of being attacked. If Visor flips scum, I’m going to feel very silly.

I am a little worried about the number of attacks floating about. With the information I have at hand, I estimate visorslash was slated to receive 250 HP damage. I don’t think any players here could expect to survive that twice in a row. It’s one thing to have a town vig running around. It’s another to have a horde of vig-lites poking people with sticks. I’m not sure I like the idea of a bunch of townies taking bits of HP off of people without needing to give a reason.

You’ve played with Visorslash before, Inner? How many times?

Astral: I see, except my being a power role is expressly what you were worried about my having revealed (as you said, Scum probably have Vanilla town cover roles), and you mentioned this openly in public. You really don’t see how could’ve helped Scum by assuming all Vanilla roles have the same sheet, which seems very unlike askthepizzaguy’s style?

In other words, if you’re a Townie, your intentions were good, but the execution wasn’t thought through very thoroughly.

But in any event, let’s drop this discussion as you wisely suggested earlier. TMI looms.

I don’t. At the moment I think protections are far better unless a group or the whole town can agree to hit a single suspect hard. (I’m all in favor of vigging as such; what bothers me is indiscriminately weakening a dozen people at a time to no real effect beyond making it easier for the scum to take them out in a single shot later on, if they’re town. Note that this opinion is subject to change if further information about the game setup comes out that would warrant it – this is my default/instinct position.) Yes, there’s a risk to one’s own precious skin in that case, but not too much of one, since any given protection is likely to be unnecessary. Possible exception – players could try to coordinate minor attacks on different people in order to account for their own activity on a given day or night, depending – just keep in mind probably most of the scum could do the same if they wanted, if maybe not as consistently.

I have Gadarene’s role description and will say nothing about it beyond that it’s neither alarming nor exculpatory.

A bunch of Townies?

I don’t believe I have ever had the pleasure. I’d like to in this game, though.

You sly dog, remembering what I say. Yeah, I made an unwarranted assumption. Say rather that I dislike the idea of a bunch of players running around slicing bits off each other.

Oh well, the order of the statements in the dusk color was pretty clear to me and I mentioned my bemusement at the transparency of the (successful?) Day protectors but not the attackers. Short of serving as an alibi or as an attempt to discourage Day protectors, I’ve no idea why this information is publicly available. I doubt it relates to role or alignment. Anyone?

Hm.

IMHO the only info it (may) provide us with isn’t alignment, but allies. And even that’s not necessarily the case. Did Inner attack Visorslash because he likes him as he said? Or did he do it because they’re scumbuddies? Or maybe Inner just thinks Visor is a fellow Townie. Or maybe Inner is scum and knows Visor is Town and protected him as a cover.

Ditto any of the protector/protected pairs. It’s such un-useful info it’s almost worse than no info – it’s potentially damaging disinformation.

Actually it may at some point be useful for alibis, at least against certain things. I wouldn’t count on it too much, though.

Make up your mind, did I attack or protect him? :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way, I wanted to point this out. Assuming I’m scum, do you think I’m more likely to point out my observation in the game thread, or on the scum board?

Well, that’s a good point. My only answer to that would be that this game is so crazily, deliciously convoluted that I have no idea if there are even any scum at all, much less a scum board, or if you’re a third party who for whatever reason wants scum to do his work for him, or if there are more than one third parties, (which I guess would make them third and fourth parties, unless they act together in concert…)…

Oy, see how discombobulated I am? And Inner Stickler thinks I can keep his attacks vs. protections straight?!

All I can say that if you are Town, then maybe it wasn’t the wisest, most pro-town move you could’ve made, IMHO. And not even just for its potential to out a power role, but for revealing your mechanics as an (alleged) Town Soldier, which for all we know are yours and yours alone.

From the rules:

“Characters generally begin as a Soldier or a Mage.”

Given that, why do you think I’m the only soldier?

Yes, though as you folks are not used to the whole private comms thing, heads up:

PM conversations are *exceedingly *easy to forge. They *prove *jack diddley squat.

This has been a friendly heads up from the guy who has pwnt folks with forged PMs countless times.

Huh? I don’t think you’re the only soldier (if soldier you be); but you might have different restrictions / hit points / weapons / magic fairy dust / whothefuckknowsit’sanaskthepizzaguygame from the [del]actual[/del] other Town Soldiers.

I’m a soldier.

I’m also completely unable to keep up. Sorry. RL got bad right as this game started. I don’t think I’ll be able to recover enough to play–I’m too far in the hole.

Also- Drain Bead, if you’d like to sub out, I have a reservist ready to go.

Also, you’re allowed to discuss your current/maximum hit points, or lie about said information. :stuck_out_tongue:
