realitytrip seems Town to me.
“I have reason to believe” means exactly what it says, obviously.
However;
This sounds like you “have information”, not like you “have been told something that may or may not be reliable”.
Your words, not mine. So now your claiming that you don’t actually know anything about **fubbleskag’s **win condition?
I would like to see about ten more votes on the table by evening, for one thing. Please townies – don’t leave the scum with only one thing to worry about, or no things to worry about. Make them react (or hide – and certainly by tomorrow at the latest a great deal of town killing and lynching effort should be going towards those who hide) and make them fear you.
I find it hard to care too much about possession of a bunch of objects whose uses I have no idea of, especially not when I already have one thing I don’t know how to use. I’d like all three to go to different people, that’s my only real preference there. If one goes to me that’s cool, if not, that’s cool too. Somebody who’s talking about me as town vote me something; I’ll pile on.
I do care about information, so if people trust me to be town that’s how I’d like to see it shown.
Realitytrip also has only 5 posts, and has been lurking fairly hardcore. Does that affect your town leaning on him?
SP, really, of anything you might want to suspect Gadarene for, I don’t think this is it. I think his story on this bit holds together perfectly for all that I’m dying to know who his informant is, myself.
I thought you were sharper than this. If I think fubbleskag might be Third Party and I’m trying to get him to say something that further suggests his Third Party nature, how am I going to approach it? Am I going to make it evident that I don’t know anything specific about him personally? Or am I going to keep it a little ambiguous to try and draw him out, since he’s more likely to be forthcoming if he assumes that the jig is up and I already know?
Not really. I was judging based on that post alone.
My informant PMed me that I wasn’t defending myself very well. I PMed him back to feel free to jump in at any point and clarify, if he wants. He hasn’t yet, of course. (And my informant merely told me something that he had been told by someone else, so presumably the original person – whose identity I don’t know – could jump in as well.) My biggest purpose in approaching this the way I did was to put people on notice that dealing with fubbleskag may be risky (in that he might not be acting in good faith and might not be able to follow through on his promises to identify your items for you, if his win condition is simply to amass as much gold and as many items as possible). Having given people that warning, I will bow out of this stupid, stupid, stupid discussion.
And obviously my informant could have invented the original source out of thin air, meaning that my informant himself has this special win condition and was trying to use me to cast doubt upon his competition.
If I suspect that this is the case at some point, I will have no qualms about outing my informant. (And anyone who’s been carrying on PM conversations with someone that they come to believe is not Town-aligned should similarly be prepared to air those conversations, using their best judgment.)
That is fair. All I can say is that this is my first mafia game and I feel like I have been thrown into the deep end of the pool. I am fairly conservative by nature and we did not have much to go on day one. It’s also tough as a newbie when players are actively looking for “self-conscious” posts and imo newbie posts tend to be just that. Mosier got a wagon for that. Granted, in a normal game he would have survived, but this is obviously not a normal game.
All of the wagons (including yours, AR) seemed pretty flimsy as I tried to show by my vote. And speaking of that, Mahaloth, you out there? I hope to be more active going forward as we have more information and voting patterns.
OK, this post.
The first ping is this bit. It’s wee-wee disease. Simultaneous criticism of how badly “we” are doing, with rah-rah about what “we” should do. I’m not sure how to put this in terms that anyone else would understand. It’s Pizza-original scum-hunting and it resonates with me, but I’ve never been able to explain it well. All I can say is that that top bit pings like hell.
“Come on town, we gotta get with it!” combination cheerleading and criticizing again. Argh. Anyway, I’d rather see the same goal (large lynch majority) aimed at in a less organized way. That way information can be obtained also by who’s participating and who is not, and when, and how. I flat out DO NOT BELIEVE that Pizza would make it all but impossible for the town to lynch its preferred candidate without taking extreme measures, every single day of the game. (Now watch me be proven wrong. But right now I don’t believe it.) So therefore I’m not all that enthused about awkward arrangements like this.
Why on earth would scum target him? They had Inner, who seemed roundly to be believed as probable town and who was also already damaged. And/or they had glee, about whom Bob was implying all sorts of interesting stuff. Hey Bob, by the way, care to shed any more light on that now? And gadarene was looking like lynch bait and/or vig target all night.
You’ve already seen my opinion about the “secret information” stuff.
Anyway, reasonable suspect, but very bad reasoning IMO, and this is a scum tell to me.
No doubt he does, but third parties and suspected third parties are always happy targets for scum, so this doesn’t improve my opinion much.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen Visorslash as scum, but the one time I saw him as a semi-malicious third party he was transparent as a pane of glass. Though he might be capable of better, at this point I don’t particularly think he’s scum, and this vote is just such a reach in terms of reasoning. You really think he’s going to get a scum PM and then immediately lay in the “I’m going to kill you all” stuff? Why? For the lulz? I guess, but why on earth you should think that’s actually what he’s doing is beyond me.
You have three super-easy candidates as your three top choices; your reasoning on them is suspect; your helpful suggestion is IMO probably unnecessary and not really much of a negative for scum even if it isn’t; and you have that weird cheer-leading/criticizing/“come on guys “we” need to do better” tone that always gets to me.
Hence the vote.
**Vote: Emerald Ring to choie
Vote: Blue Pendant to gnarlycharlie
Vote: Sapphire Ring to LightFoot
Vote: Present**
Vote PetW
Oh my God, he sucks.

(But I do like Normal’s case, and I’ve been expressing my dislike for PetW’s reasoning for a while now.)
Septimus, why those three?
I didn’t want to say why I protected Glee because doing so will expose my Elemental alignment. I’m not at all sure what the Elemental alignment means, but I was trying to avoid giving away that piece of information until I knew more about it. However, since it seems to be such a huge freaking deal to everyone, I’ll just say it.
I am a Townie with an Elemental alignment of Water. I have a blue item. Since Glee had a blue item, I inferred that he and I were of the same alignment. I protected him on D1 because I thought that he and I had an affinity through our Elemental alignment. I also wanted to see what using my Guard ability did.
I still don’t know what the Elemental alignment means. I was (probably naively) assuming that birds of a feather have the same Elemental alignment. That is, if I am Water and Town and I find another Water person, then that person is also Town. I am basically interpreting the Elemental alignment as a sort-of Masonry.
Exposing my Elemental alignment now opens me up to an Elemental-type attack.
To show that I’m not pulling this out of a nether orifice, in post #179 I mentioned “Water” twice. Also, in post #647, I also alluded to my Elemental alignment when I said, “What’re you getting at?”
I’m sure I have made a lot of newbie-type assumptions regarding the Elemental alignment, but this is my first DnD style game I have ever played, so I’m not sure how it all works.
I think this is almost certainly not the case, fwiw.
Well, nuts … I just realized that those pretty items we are voting on can go two ways. I certainly proceeded thinking that it was desirable to vote on a precious and win it. Thus, people voting to give the item to someone else could be seen as a “friendly” thing to do.
However, it is equally possible that an item is poisonous, or a type of bomb, and voting to give someone an item (especially if one knows that said item is toxic) is actually an attack.
Unvote
Yeah, you could be right. But, it was what I was thinking on D1.
So, you got an unsolicited (I am assuming) PM from somebody who said “hey, guess what? **fubbleskag **is a 3rd Party”.
Can you answer these questions?
Assuming this person is actually in possession of the information and is relaying it truthfully, why would they choose to tell you?
What makes you think this person is trustworthy in the first place?
I understand the idea of “putting pressure” on someone, but if that was your intention, you didn’t do it very well. If you were trying to “draw information” out of fubbleskag, did you really think saying “Hey, you’re a third party. Defend yourself” was going to do the trick?
That is incorrect.
Yes, I can.
He and I had already been talking about other things. I think he is >rand to be Town.
He and I had already been talking about other things. I think he is >rand to be Town.
Everyone’s a critic. People have made it abundantly clear that they don’t think I’m playing very well this game, but feel free to pile on.
Pizza, can we quote (or purport to quote) from PMs with other players? Did I already ask you this? I forget.
