[Mafia game] The Realm of Phere

Day bring out more bad feeling. Light hurt eyes. Night more comfort. Not so confusing in dark-time. I smarter, stronger at night.

My tally should have Visorslash voting himself the Emerald ring, which I believe was his correct final vote. He’s also voting himself the blue pendant, which your tally doesn’t show for some reason.

You also don’t seem to be showing PetW’s vote for himself for the ring.

Gadarene quit whining.

So we should vig you during the day, then?

Better plan; picnic! You bring braaaains I bring bread.

I found **PetW’s **post

He didn’t specify which Ring he was voting on, so I assumed it didn’t count.

Here are the relavent posts by Visorslash:

I think the end result of that is that Visorslash should have only one (public) Item Vote, that being for the Sapphire Ring to go to fubbleskag.

If you read Post 777 to mean that the Unvote only affects the Sapphire Ring, so that he’s still voting the other two items to himself, then the ‘official count’ works out looking like Visorslash is indeed another Double-Voter.

Which is the point of this whole exercise…

This is a totally fair criticism.

An excellent point, except that I instinctively know what color PetW’s eyes are.

Maybe.

It’s entirely possible that I assumed too much.

This is the kind of thing I am talking about. Choie is ery quick to make accusations this game.

Why do you think Normal is Scum when you assume you don’t understand her strategy? I don’t think these thoughts are compatible at all:

Normal Phase is playing above my level, and I don’t understand her play.

Normal Phase is doing things that I can identify as Scummy.

Interesting how so many people have more losses than wins. You guys must have a lot of multi-faction games.

**Normal **may have a point that choie wouldn’t go after her as Scum.

Huh, and Normal thinks I’ve been too slow to make scum accusations. So which is it? Is there some perfect median/mean (sorry I’m not good with math) of accusations it’s proper to make?

Actually, I’ll take the fact that you think I’m making too many, and Normal thinks I’m making too few, as a sign I’m doing something right, on balance. Go Team Choie!

I dunno, it seems to make sense to me (for what that is worth – I’m not the one I need to convince, obviously). I’m saying I couldn’t understand her decisions if she were makiing them from a Town POV, whereas I do think they’d make sense coming from a scum POV. Hence… she leans scum.

But less so than she did before our discussion today, though. Either she explained her position better in a way I was more receptive to, or my brain cells are simply starting to spark a little at last.

Anyway, as I said before, Weedy, I really think it’s… well, not unfair, but probably not helpful for your perspective, to judge my style of play in my third game. Surely the first two games one plays one doesn’t have a set style yet… most players will be fairly tentative, feeling their way around. This is my third game, and I think this is the one that will better solidify my game style, develop a pattern for others to discern/recognize.

The first game’s useless considering I was basically flying blind, the second game I was still just warming up, and this third game is, hopefully, where I’ll start to establish a play style. And hopefully not too annoying a style, though I bet Normal will disagree.

The second option is that maybe I’m such an astonishing wunderkind of a player that my gameplay will vary with each game, and no one will ever ever pin me down! EVER!

Erm, yeah, probably not. Go with the first thing.

Sorry, choie, I don’t believe that people change their nature from game to game. I’m going to take into account all my experience with you when I try to read you. (I wasn’t in your second game, but I read your D1 posts to try to compare them).

This is some of the stuff from D1 that I found suspicious about choie. I’m still thinking about whether she would or would not push Normal Phase as Scum, but I figure I may as well show my work while I’m thinking.

Vote for septimus seems over-explained. Last sentence to Astral is smudgey to me. She calls him out and then retract it.

More explaining. Maybe this is just choie’s style? It’s just a joke vote, why the big fuss about it.

Remember the part in Navy for later.

You knew you were going to say this before you said it? Because it is all waffle, and you even say you don’t know what you are talking about. You went after ATPG when he was Town, so how is it ‘not wrong’ to go after Visorslash, based on that analogy?

I think this is Scummy, because it reads to me like you are just making up something to say.

This reads to me like: I really don’t know, so don’t blame me, but no matter how which way you look at it, Astral is Scummy.

Talks herself into a vote change. In the same post where she is all over the place about where to vote, she says votes on Mosier are beyond her comprehension. Why so tentative on one, and so certain on the other? Cos she knows she has to justify the vote.

Explained extensively how her vote on Septimus was purely based on last game, and now says that he’d be a reason why she didn’t vote Astral (i.e. she does actually find him Scummy). I don’t think this makes sense, and I think she is making up stuff to say for the sake of it.

Should be wouldnt vote Astral, not didn’t vote Astral.

Weedy, girlfriend, if you read my posts elsewhere on the SDMB, you’ll know that I overexplain everything.

I don’t even get your using both “OMG she’s writing stuff just to write stuff and doesn’t seem to have it all planned out!” and “this seems too planned out!” as accusations. I mean… really? That’s what’s bothering you? Because at times my writing sometimes seems off-the-cuff, and other times seems too planned out? 'Cause to me, that sounds like perfectly normal behavior.

Here’s how I work on mesage boards. Basically what I do is, I think of what I want to say, generally speaking. Not to the point where I literally memorize all the words I plan on writing, but certainly I do get the general idea and outline for what I want to express.

Then I write. Then I rewrite. Then I look over the post some more and finally submit the damn post. And probably then, even after submitting the post, I’ll edit the fucker two minutes later.

Seriously, if you can find 25 out of my 3000+ posts on the rest of the SDMB that don’t have “edited by choie” in them, I’ll be shocked. The fact that there’s no editing in this game kills me. Kills me!

I did feel I needed to explain my septimus vote, because people were taking it seriously, and this just blew my mind. So I wrote it out as if I were talking to humorless morons, because, well, that’s what these folks were coming across as. I still don’t know how anyone could’ve taken that vote seriously and be able to tie their shoes in the morning.

Let me ask you this. Is what you’re doing “smudging”? Because I don’t see a lick of difference in what you’re doing, and what I was doing when I thought Astral and Gadarene might be scummy. Why is it “smudging” when I call someone scummy, but apparently perfectly legitimate, wholesome Townie McTownerson behavior when you call me scummy?

And by the way, what’s wrong with explaining one’s thought processes? Isn’t that what we’re supposed to do here? Isn’t that the point of the whole Day phase, for pete’s sake? If no one pondered aloud, these game threads would have about fifty posts from start to finish.

Argh. Forget it, choie. It’s Weedytown.

It grates to read your posts. My thoughts have not changed re Choie. I would very much appreciate some healing if any people would like to heal me.

Vote: Red Pendant to Visorslash

The ironing is delicious!

It’s moreso the girlfriend and the italics, bolding, etc.

I read it, and in my mind someone is speaking it, and it just sounds ridiculous to me.

So I’m voting you, and that isn’t likely to change. Iron all you like.

You’re new to the board, but SDMB convention is that we bold usernames. Can’t help with the “girlfriend” or italics, which are used for emphasis. But honestly, I couldn’t give less of a rat’s ass what grates on you or not.

That’s funny, 'cause when I read your text, I imagine it being spoken by Rainman.

But vote away, buddy. Too bad about your health, but personally I don’t think you’re an asset to Town, and quite likely the opposite. So, no great loss.

OMG SMUDGE ALERT! SMUDGE ALERT! YES WEEDY, THAT’S A SMUDGE!

Thus it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if whoever’s been healing your less-than-productive tush, assuming it is just one person, is no longer inclined to do so.

Choie, you get too worked up about these things.

How am I being less then productive? I have stated my thoughts, I have voted every phase, I have been around every phase. I might not be very prolific as a poster, but who says I have to be? There are lurkers here, or people who are posting less and saying less then me, but you don’t bring them up.

On topic: Mosier being resurrected by Phere is either scum getting a lackey, or some other thing with a condition.

I would urge any Day attackers, to kill Mosier. That is what I will be doing.

How do you expect me not to get “worked up” (which I don’t think I am, more dryly cynical if anything – my temper’s not raised, just my eyebrow) when you tell me every one of my post grates on you and I sound ridiculous? Yeah, you’re right, that’s nothing at all to be annoyed by.

Because you’re not doing any deductive reasoning; I don’t think you’ve ever really explained any of your votes to any great degree whatsoever. (OTOH, I don’t blame you; apparently explaining your vote is scummy, according to the new rules instituted by Weedy)

Also, because you’re not paying attention to what I’m saying to you, almost screaming to you, in almost every one of my posts to you, and that is driving me up the frikkin’ wall.

Personally I would feel more comfortable waiting to see how Mosier votes before doing any planning to attack the guy. He’s pretty badly hindered by his new zombie mode, but maybe his zombitiousness is simply a bargain he made in order to get brought back.
