Afternoon folks.
I’ve not been keeping up with the game too well, so I find myself reading under time pressure. There’s a couple of things I want to say about Colby’s wording as I start a reread.
I’ve seen plenty of incidences of strange wording on Day 1 that people have seized on as evidence of scummitude. Many of the players who posted the strange wording turned out to be scum; the majority back in the early days, iirc. However, some players with strange phraseology turned out to be Town. My personal record is that every one I actually voted for turned out to be Town. So I didn’t vote before slipping away. However, Colby now has one finger of suspicion pointing at him.
The third vote question. The actual issue is that "the third vote on a Townie is placed by scum more often than random chance predicts. So please, if Colby turns out to be Town, take a close look at Septimus.

I haven’t voted yet.
The main reason is that I fouled up last week and let the game get too far away from me. My bad. As a result there is a large chunk in the middle that I haven’t yet read. I did take the time to look up Septimus’s claim, because I was very suspicious of him after the first 250 posts. Mostly this was because he placed the third vote on Colby, and then backed out of it.
The third-vote tell is largely useless once people have gotten used to it (and it’s by no means certain). However, it seems to have slipped off the collective radar, so it’s functional again.
Without the claim I’d probably be voting for him now, but it’s worth seeing if results of actions Today or in the future support or refute the claim.
I won’t get the whole missing block read in the 50 minutes or so remaining in the Day. So I’m ging to vote now for one of the leaders, then examine the other leaders to see if there;'s a better case.

Just as a note: I agree thoroughly with what Chronos said a while back about lynching a Serial Killer early to slow down the rate of attrition. In this game, a SK allowed to run free for four killcycles will typically kill three Townies to one anti-Town player. (I believe I mentioned this in N0, with examples.)
Wow. Just wow. “I haven’t read the thread, so I’m going to just arbitrarily vote for one of the leaders, because I don’t know when the Day ends”.

I had a look at the posts by Colby.
I got a frustration vibe from the later posts, particularly those where he’s quoting irrelevant song lyrics. On reflection, what they reminded me of was Special Ed’s 26-post Gettysburg Address, which came about because he was exposed as scum. Consequently, my suspicion of Colby is deepened.
I’ll carry on examining the leaders.

I said above that my suspicion of Colby was deeper now. Frustration is a null tell to me. However, as I observed, there was an element of distraction, and that is what made my suspicions increase.
The comment on frustration applies to Lakai as well. But rather than fight like a Townie (say, analysing a number of players in the knowledge that, after he is lynched, we can look over his analyses and know that he was being honest in his opinions) he’s fluffing. His last post linked to a Johnny Cash video.
As for Roosh aka ToeJam, his disappearance could have been attributed to his job, I’d be surprised if all of it was due to an emergency.
I’m going to leave my vote where it is.
So, he continues to announce periodically that he is getting more suspicious of **Colby, **but never votes him. In fairness, his conclusion that all three leading lynch candidates were equally desirable is the same one I came to. On a related note, that Johnny Cash video was awesome!

The bodycount looks daunting; we’ve lost just under 10% of the players in one Day / Night cycle. Still, it gives us five players we can look at and say “We know and can trust where they are coming from.” It doesn’t mean they were automatically right, just that what they said didn’t have any intention of misleading.
It will be interesting to try and evaluate their interactions with other players in the light of their alignment. The prospect is indeed daunting. I’ll try and go through one or two of them.
On the subject of activity, I’ll be missing on Thursday (19/1) as I have to take a day-trip for the funeral of an aunt. (She was 91). So I’ll not turn up at all that day.
I’ll read along and spend some time when not diverted by RL reading Normal Phase’s posts from Yesterday.
Given his level of activity so far, letting us know that he’s not going to be around on some specific day is pretty comical. (oog, sorry about your aunt)
Very few posts, very little meaningful content, Lazy Vote Hall of Fame candidate…I’m comfortable with MHaye as my backup lynch candidate right now.
