Ah, yes. You think my vote/unvote and prodding history on septimus is scummy because of a vote I place on scathach that has nothing to do with septimus whatsoever, and the post after 798 that I didn’t make until now, seeing as how 798 was my last post in this thread until this one.

So Biotop, sir. Care for a night chat? How are things? Has the east coast succumbed to this west coast plague yet (it seems everyone here is sick, or just got done being sick)? Also, what’s your take on prof this game? I understand cutting down on fluff for the sanity of this monster D1…but…I feel a bit uneasy about him. Also also, is Colby just being his normal scummy sounding self?
For some odd reason this reminds me of all the loyalty pledges in Catch 22. Anybody can say it and not mean it in the least. What exactly is the point?

I thought a few times about late night chats, but as this thread keeps growing like the blob (and swallowing time as well as probably scaring away timid posters), I figured to hold off until later. If we were somehow both around when things got manageable, we could resume our late-night fun.
But now that we are about to pass the 1000 post mark just for this Day, I am not sure what is the harm at this point. I already took my meds, but I got a little time before they kick in.
Professor P. was first to bring up hammer in this game in reaction to the Colby slip. It’s not the most brazen move, but it would be, I think, out of character for the cautious Scum as usually played by the Professor. The rest of his posts have been mostly fluff, which is his M.O. regardless of role. We’ll see what develops, but I lean Town.
**Colby11 ** does often sound Scummy. His reaction to the slip has been as bad as the slip itself. Instead of saying “I goofed” he gets mad. Which game was it we mislynched him on Day 1 at Giraffe, do you recall? I go back and forth, but he sure is not helping his case.

I think our happy medium here, is that we are in agreement that after all is said and done, town can still only get so far, … As far as one distinct post goes, not in aggregate.

Scum under pressure may well claim an innocuous third party role (indeed, it wouldn’t surprise me if scum were actually supplied with some false claims).
Having players commit now rules them out from claiming it in the future. So it cuts down scum options while not affecting town.
To be clear, you mean “Mafia” as the game as a whole, not as faction? That’s Mafia with a capital M, not a lower case m ? ((Hopefully you understand this, because I know I’ll lose my self if I explain. C.F. The Catholic Chruch, and the catholic church.))
TL DR isn’t the issue you should be concerned with. If you were a few games in with us, someone could level a charge of “fishing” for this activity. Fishing as in the card game “Go Fish”… Random, unsolicited questions to others, just to gauge their reactions if they offer any at all.
I’m not sure I’ve ever, ever seen Direct commentary on votes “Oh Noes, X! You shouldn’t have voted Y!” … Everything up to that, yes.
I’m not sure how much help I can be on giving you feedback on your vote. I mean… It’s your logic… It’s as foreign to me, as my logic is to you…I can only hope that my logic is just as much as foreign.
I mean, we will comment at large about the game, but I’m not entirely sure how we can give you want you seek. Town players can’t, by definition, non-town players would use such an opportunity to manipulate your vote away from good votes. In any event, the good guys can’t help, the bad guys will always harm. … It’s like that brain teaser, where you are at a fork in the road, and can only ask the guy at the fork one question… And one group always tells the truth, the other group always lies and are the canibals… Or something.
Shenanigans
This game is, save for its number of players, straightforward. Shenanigans as we would call them aren’t present here. There are tons of roles that could exist that I’m going to go out on a limb and say aren’t in this game. Vote modifying roles, Post restriction necessitated roles, recruitment… Day and Night modifying deaths…
I think I know what you want to ask… If you don’t mind me speaking for you…
A fury of activity?
Hell yes. Probably not so much on the earlier days… But vote changes, claims, counter claims… An escalation of showing cards close to the vest, or ulterior motives revealing themselves will happen… Probably have to happen. Just not on day one… And probably… Not until day/night 4 … Taking the notion that Cops/Detectives should as a rule of thumb, in general claim by then. … And all other roles follow in kind soon after.

I never voted Hockey Monkey. I may have never voted Hockey Monkey, come to think of it. She did kinda strike me as dangerous scum when we met IRL, though. I voted (and then unvoted) hawkeyeop.
Fire was referring to Dante having burns, did you even read his post? This is worse that Septimus’ unvote - jumping on a bandwagon “This is pretty good reason to start a lynching mob”, getting a little pressure for lack of participation, and then cold feet.
So, not for the lynch mob, not for the lack of participation, but for the vote and then pressured poorly reasoned unvote, and, worst of all, is there absolutely zero reason for voting toejam? Even a hint of a suspicion? What up? Just because he’s next is the vote count?

Hi everyone. Sorry that I haven’t posted yet but I’ve been waiting until I catch up on all the posts so I can make a thoughtful contribution. That said, there is no way I’m going to get through 20 pages of posts without potentially being mod killed so I’m posting now and apologize if I bring up anything that has been clarified, settled or repeatedly talked about to death (I’ve only read up to page 8).
On editing - I would make a second post to correct any mistakes I made over editing my original post. That seems right to me. However I don’t think that editing is guaranteed to be a Scum-tell either. If there was somehow hard evidence that an edited post was fishy then it would warrant a closer look.
On Colby - I understand why he could be considered a reasonable vote for day one as his wording may or may not have been a slip. If he is Town then there are almost certainly Scum votes on him. If’s he’s Scum then I think it’s plausible that there are Scum votes on him if it’s looking likely that he’ll be lynched. If the bandwagon dissipates then I think it’s plausible that some unvotes are Scum. So when it comes down to it I think there’s a better chance of finding Scum in the Colby voters than in Colby himself. (And for all I know this is completely irrelevant now.) As for his use of “their” team instead of “my” or “our” team I think the statement was meant in a general sense as applied to any Town in any game as an example (again, may be irrelevant now).
Septimus has pinged me so far for his vote/unvote on the cheese wagon but I’m sure a lot has happened since then.
I honestly don’t think I will be able to get through all of the posts by the end of Day 1 and I apologize again for not carrying my weight so far, but I will endeavour to do better going forward.
I don’t think I’m caught up enough to make a fair vote so I’m going to leave it for now. If I do manage to adequately catch up I will place a vote.
