Mafia Reunion - Day One

As someone who has looked extensively at the Who Posted columns for the last year and a half, 20% of the posters putting up half the posts is not at all unusual on D1. If this is still the case on D3, we have a problem.

Bringing it closer.

I’m okay with the Lakai as the lynchee. I don’t have much to add to what others have laid out on the case, but I agree with the aura of scum around most of Lakai’s posts.

I’m not sure what to make of the late comers to ToeJam. When I see late voting on an absentee player, I start to suspect scum. It’s easier to trump up a case against an absentee. If TJ continues to be an absentee, at least we’ll have the mod kill to clean things up and we won’t have to spend a lynch.

I like both those lynches more than a Colby lynch. Somebody upthread made a good point about slips on D1. They give both scum and town a reason to think"whew, I have something to hang my vote on and I can relax now." Whether Colby’s scum or town, I’m not sure how much we would have learned about the Colby voters.

You missed me voting for Lakai, post 1094. Maybe my blue was too dark for your liking.

I had a look at the posts by Colby.

I got a frustration vibe from the later posts, particularly those where he’s quoting irrelevant song lyrics. On reflection, what they reminded me of was Special Ed’s 26-post Gettysburg Address, which came about because he was exposed as scum. Consequently, my suspicion of Colby is deepened.

I’ll carry on examining the leaders.

So, you think maybe Colby is a third havarti? I cheddar to think of it.

I finally caught up, although I admit to skimming a little get through it before EoD.

I think I’m with you on Pleonast. Enough to:

so I’m on the record. Something feels off with him. Right now it’s a gut read I’ve had throughout the Day. I need to go back through his posts and interactions to see if I can put a finger on what’s been pinging me.

All three of the leaders seem scummy to me, which I think is a first for me on D1.

Of the three I think Lakai is the best lynch Today. I hate to encourage dropping out as a strategy, but I would like to hear more from Colby and ToeJam. I’ve seen frustrated Colby play this way, so I want to give him another Day to get his head in the game. My meta may be wrong with ToeJam / Roosh, but I wouldn’t expect him to go silent even if scum, so I suspect RL has prevented him from keeping up with the game.

Groan. Please let’s not turn the rest of the Day into cheese puns.

*Less than 2 hours. Please go silent at that time and allow your moderators time to prepare an end of Day post. We’re doing our best, but we are busy as well. We may not be available to fully wrap up right on time.

Here is the countdown again.

Uh, you can talk, I guess. I just mean if you are lynched, etc., don’t reveal yourself. Let us make a proper write-up.**

You missed me voting for Lakai, post 1094. Maybe my blue was too dark for your liking.

Maybe just vote again? (for the first time?)

My bold. I wanna highlight this question again. Any reads or thoughts? We’re closing in on EOD.

^ Meant for Lakai…

**Sooooo does blue not count if it’s the wrong shade? I hit the blue button, blue text came out… Real talk, though. **

RE-
Vote Lakai

It’s already bad enough that this place doesn’t have vote tags, grumble grumble.

With a full hour to go, I’m trying to run through the lynch leaders to see what their story is.

Lakai’s first vote came from Inner Stickler who didn’t like that Lakai was jumping on a bandwagon of Colby. Lakai is no longer on that bandwagon, having switched to Angelofthenorth.
Same with second vote snfaulkner
Same with third vote RedSkeeziz
Same with Plumpudding but with a little added reasoning.
Lightfoot really didn’t give a reason at all.
Same with Koldanar but with pretty lazy reasoning behind it.
GuiriEnEspaña seems to give some analysis behind it, so credit there.
Hoopy Frood is almost literally jumping on a bandwagon while talking about Lakai’s bandwagon comment as a reason for the vote. But he finishes it off with some analysis of Lakai’s responses.
AngeloftheNorth does the revenge vote
Hockey Monkey things there’s a good case on Colby but wants him to live another day. So he vote for Lakai for reasons.
Raventhief joins the bandwagon
Meeko doesn’t like Lakai’s responses. But seems a bit too forceful for my taste.
JSGoddess joins the bandwagon.
Drain Bead provides context to her reasoning and suggests third party, which seems reasonable.
So I went into this not really knowing much about the whole issue with Lakai. Is it possible he’s scum? Possibly. 3rd party? Even more probable. But I think most of the case against him has been entirely too weak. It started out with a joke about bandwagonning and pitchforks which literally caused the pitchforks to be turned on him and bandwaggoning to occur. That’s just weird.

I think if Lakai flips non-town that would be great, but there are a number of his voters we’ll need to seriously take a look at in the next round.
I actually like the vote train against ToeJam. It starts off when people rightly call him out on his “lady doth protest too much” post. HookerChemical had a pretty good breakdown in post 568.
Then there are people pointing out that he went from overly friendly and helpful to dead silent. He hasn’t posted since the 8th in this thread. He was on yesterday. He’s the second in line for lynch leader.

One hour and 14 minutes to go…

So it turns out that I didn’t have time for the re-read I wanted to do. But in the meanwhile, my solitary vote on Thing Fish obviously isn’t accomplishing anything, and besides that, he’s at least being active and helpful, and I don’t like lynch-the-loud. Even if he is Scum, a helpful Scum is still helpful, and it’s better to lynch a Scum who isn’t even that.

Which brings us to the current lynch leaders. I’ve already said that the wagon on Colby looks lazy. It’s not a reason to vote for his voters, since Town and Scum alike can be lazy, but it is a reason to not vote for him.

I haven’t followed all of the case against Lakai, but post 1068 by itself would be enough to draw my suspicion. Townies should absolutely not be worried about playing so well that they’ll draw Scum fire, unless maybe (arguably) they’re power roles, but Lakai has now claimed vanilla, so that’s not it either.

On the other hand, ToeJam’s participation did drop off abruptly, without any explanation, right at the time that it would be convenient to get people to forget about him. Like I said, I dislike lynching the loud, in part because deliberate lurkers are dangerous. If a Scum does deliberately lurk, then lynching the lurker is the only possible defense.

I’m suspicious of both of them, as well as still suspicious of jsgoddess and Thing Fish (my previous votes). But in the interest of not lynching the loud, and of making it a closer race (which leads to better information from vote analyses), I will

Oh, also: Of our three current vote leaders, only one has claimed. I would like to remind you that we do know we have a mandatory Vig in this game, and runners-up are a pretty good choice for Vig targets*. So if you have a claim that might get you out of the crosshairs, you might want to keep that in mind for the coming Night.

*Note: I’m not saying that the Vig absolutely must target a runner-up. Vigilantes must be at least somewhat unpredictable in order to work right, and should make their own decisions on who to target. But the Vig probably is and should be at least considering the possibility.

I make it 16-13-7, exciting!

Indeed!
