Mafia Reunion - Day Three

@ToeJam:

Why do all this? Especially as a power? After a hiatus from Mafia, playing in a gigantic reunion game with more than enough confusion already in the mix, with a bunch of new faces as well as old, that don’t know you and your playstyle… Why?

Why would scum communicate to their teammates via editing, if they have their own boards? I hate having to explain jokes, but I guess that comes with not being witty enough…

Completely tangential, but I just posted in a Cafe Society thread, saw an error, and had a moment of dismay because “if I edit they’ll all… oh, right, this isn’t the Mafia game.”

Unvote ToeJam

Because of the claim, and in absence of a counterclaim.

I have fake claimed investigator as town once before, but this claim doesn’t sit at all well with me. I’m not sure why you would put such a target on your back if you’re really the doctor. I’ll give it time, though.

Biotop, you’re on my scum leans now for your response to ToeJam’s claim. Specifically, it feels rote, not like you actually considered it.

Hal, good to see you, hope you stay.

Paul, I tried to reply to your post and my reply disappeared. Bud, you know I love you but I’m not buying what you’re selling here. It’s good for me to be forced to articulate the reasoning behind my gut, though. Ups my game.

It’s not because you defended Idle. In fact, I strongly believe scum you never defends teammate Idle in this way. I think your reasoning about the modkill is sound and honest.

I suspect you for the attempts to be conciliatory. An example off of the top of my head- when you said if you were being too aggressive you’d tone it down.

You have a “reasonable” tone in places that doesn’t sit well with me.

They count as a mislynch in the numbers game because they are a missed opportunity to kill scum. In the case of yesterday, I was a proponent of using the additional lynch to kill a third party because using it wouldn’t detract from using the main lynch. I realize in this game, with the day and the night kill, we’re in some senses obliged to start hitting multiple scum targets with lynches in order to keep up, but I don’t think we’re at the point where it makes sense to start doubling up on our lynches just for the sake of it. We’ve already done a fantastic job of letting the scum avoid any hits on themselves while letting half of our own power roles die.

Killing a third party with the second lynch isn’t a bad thing in and of itself, and it’s a hell of a lot better than killing a townie role with it.

A perfect encapsulation of how scum think: the important thing about a vote is how many players will follow it.

You’ll have to elaborate, because I’m not understanding you.

Would explain what you think the case is?

Oh no! Did you survive?

(Really, once a game starts, you should only take questions via PM.)

I was a dressing point number 3 in the post you quoted. The bit you had difficulty parsing.

Yeesh, I didn’t think I was THAT quiet (in game)yesterday. See my post earlier (in game)today - dealing with some issues after a wind storm here this week.

I’ll try for a megapost today, or early tomorrow, then participate after. Been skimming at least today, and trying for a deeper re-read after my lunch time.

Okay. No worries, I was catching up myself and switched from reading from Safari to reading from Tapatalk so I may have missed you. I’ll go back and reread again.

I did. It was in a controlled environment at an ecological preserve. Very cool. I also got to swim with sharks at the same place. Proceeds go to conservation efforts.

And we could only take questions via PM and it would be cleaner for game play, but I suspect less fun.

I’m in full-blown “sick as a dog” mode, so I’ll either be here drooling on my keyboard, or in bed in a cold medicine coma.

Yeah, I’m slow. Today for sure. Back to my note-taking.

If he’s scum (I don’t have the same metaknowledge as you guys who are so certain), then it’s only a bad lynch if he is not utilizing a role power.

He may be disengaged and he may not be contributing here, but that doesn’t mean a scummy Idle won’t use a role power and then report back to the scum boards.

I don’t know what to make of a player who says, “yeah they’re scum, but let’s vote for somebody else.”

He literally only has to pop in and say “oh hai” to avoid the modkill.

I can’t understand those who really, genuinely think Idle is scum who do not have a vote on him.

This makes me less trusting of the meta-case, and I was already not particularly trusting of it.

Why make the perfect lynch the enemy of a good lynch? If you think he’s scum, you have to think he’s a good lynch.

I genuinely think he’s non-town. I also genuinely think Squid is scum. I’m content to lynch one scum and have the other non-town modkilled.

Sorry, yeah, I should have been way more clear. If you have two people you genuinely think are scum, well, we only have one lynch, so it makes sense to choose one.

But if you have one, or two, or a half dozen people you (general you!) genuinely think are scum and you don’t have a vote on any of them, that makes no sense to me.

Reading.

I’m sure I’m doing one or both by now.

Retweets don’t equal endorsement…

No, but seriously, I see the value in this type of thing immediately. However, in all seriousness, I’m not trying to say I nescessairly agree.

I’d love to do the same as above, but I don’t really read…er uh, I mean I don’t have reads on anyone.

And frankly, it would be insane to start now. … It’s probably also insanity to have started.
Khameleons blend in, right? Can I poke the Khameleon with a stick? Will it show it’s true colors if I do? :stuck_out_tongue:

Bolding is mine for the most part.

You make a point to clarify the difference between lurking and not participating, but then criticize my playful jab at Prof. P. He has been here and following along, so it was odd for him to say that NOW he’s gonna start taking the game seriously.

Then you criticize my point about Idle being an easy lynch. You flat out say that you don’t have a better suspect; which points to you not having particpated. So is this your attempt to justify a lazy me too vote based entirely on the reasoning of others? So which is it, are you going to actually play or just throw shade at people for calling out lazy play?
