That’s the point I’m making. Outing yourself as a third party and saying, “well, I’m friendly!” doesn’t mean anything unless you actually help. That means giving us information that we can either confirm or deny later.
Here is an oddity I noticed in trying to pull that together. Originally, brewha says the switch came in a “couple of days later” after the role pm. Then later he (?) says “almost a day later.” Now, I am more temporally challenged than probably most of the posters here, but coupled with the earlier lie… and added to the fact that brewha’s pm is substantially different than the other two…
I am provisionally willing to trust Crys75 at this point. But it occurs to me: She says that only one of them has to survive for them all to win. If one of them dies, and that one comes up as “3rd party (non-hostile)”, then we’d effectively have another four-person semi-masonry of, if not Town, at least guaranteed non-Scum (which is almost as good). And they’d be low-enough priority targets for the Scum that the Scum would probably leave at least one alive, too, since they’d almost always have better targets available. So it might even be to the Cult’s advantage for one of their number to die, so we can (maybe) confirm that they’re benign.
Mods: If a third party dies, will the death flip tell us whether their win condition is consistent with Town’s (i.e., if they’re hostile or not)?
You have no idea whether that was in Town’s interest or not. If the other Bodyguard-switcher didn’t flip their switch, then you turned the Bodyguard off. If the other Bodyguard-switcher did flip their switch, then you turned the Bodyguard on. But either way, it wouldn’t have saved someone’s behind, because the only person the Bodyguard can kill is himself (in the process of saving his target).
It says that they’re no threat to anyone else, and the win condition stated for them cannot be a win-stealing win condition, given the rules of this game.
And to anyone stating that Crys needs to share all the information she has if she wants to be trusted, it looks to me like she has: She’s said what switch she has and what she did with it, she posted her PM except for the number being edited out, she came back and said the number a few posts later, she said who she investigated on the one investigation she had a chance to make, and she said the result of that investigation.

I think we established that Giraffe’s robot wouldn’t work due to needing some custom board settings, but that septimus’ (which might be only a slight modification of it?) does. And incidentally, I’m going to want to ask septimus for a copy of that, after this game.
