So Town can still win if their numbers are even to (or outnumbered by) total Scum – but with no Scum having a majority over a combination of both Town and the other Scum team right?
This makes my head hurt.

Yes. I still carry a torch for her.
You don’t know the half of it.
You will though. The full town and Scum role Pms are going to be posted very very soon. They will help a little.
Interesting…
Only if you aren’t reading the whole thread. I promise we aren’t trying to trick you about how the game works.
odd thought- before I sign off- I am seeing posts that look scummy and started to note the player. then realized- roles are not out. science fail. and on the other foot it has to change the goggles too
Tottenham are the greatest thing the world has ever seen!
Yes, but does she still start a fire in your loins?
Well, there is a burning sensation…does that count?
If I correctly understand your question, then yes, you are right.
Here’s an example; suppose the nonexistence of third parties for the purposes of this hypothetical.
It is late-ish in the game, Dawn of Day X; only 12 players remain. Five are Town-aligned, along with 3 Wolves and 4 Mafia. Town is outnumbered, 7-5, by Scum.
At this moment, Town does not win, because not all Scum players are dead.
Wolves do not win, because 3 is not greater than 50% of 12.
Mafia do not win, because 4 is not greater than 50% of 12.
The game continues. Any side could still win.
and you just qualified the idea that there are 14 wolf/mafia combined. did you intend to?
I noticed that Freudian Slip also!
Post one told us 14 scum players. Why is that new?
NETA sorry post 2
Not to mention that as has been mentioned multiple times by the mods all town and scum roles will be openly revealed.
So really we will know going in how many town, mafia, and werewolves will be in the game just by counting the revealed roles. And the remainder number will be third party. (This is assuming they don’t double up on roles without telling us they are doing so or throw a bunch of remainder town into an unquantified vanilla pool.)
Regardless, as you said, we know there are 14 between the wolves and mafia based on the rules.
How the heck do you keep track of things without notes?
Although for a game this size, my notes are likely to become a bit unwieldy. Day 1 is gonna be huge.
The first few games I played, I kept notes. But after a while I found simply rereading the games and getting to know many of the regulars was enough. But that’s not going to work here. It’s going to be a huge undertaking just to try and grab hold of whatever role I receive in this game and then to try like hell not to get too dizzy on the ride as long as it lasts.
Oh, I keep notes. I’ve got notes on ALL of you jerks. SO many notes. The BEST notes. I’m the best at notes.
I see little point in posting until we have roles.
I always take notes, but I don’t refer to them all that often. Rather, I find that the process of making the notes itself helps me see things clearly. When I do refer to them, it’s mostly for things like “Wait, I remember someone suggested this. Who was it?”.
My biggest difficulty is that, when just reading a message board, I usually don’t pay much attention to usernames, just to the content of posts. But of course, that doesn’t work very well in Mafia. Since my notes include names, I’m forced to pay attention to them.
