This is what stuck in my head and why I was thinking you were for deciding between me and NAF, self preservation. Which is also why I didn’t comment on your post earlier. But while I was responding to Rysto I figured I should at least mention the other person I though had said it earlier, even if the reasons werent great. Unfortunatly, I couldn’t go back and find your post because I was on my phone and would have lost the post. I’ve really got to stop giving you credit for my ideas.
Especially when they’re bad ones.
If you had bothered to read the whole post, I answered your question right in it:
(bolding added)
Still gotta problem?
Will likely != will. Just sayin’.
A question for our Mod.
Did the Jester’s recruitment action affect the status of his chosen subject immediately? Could they join the scum board immediately? If they had a Town power role, would that night action have been lost?
I did in fact see that. I don’t see any good reason for you to place those votes now.
I only reason I made them votes was to make it more official and “on the record,” documenting that I was planning on voting for either Oredigger or NAF, and that I found Oredigger to be more suspicious than NAF at that time. I was attempting to be very open and above-board about my thinking, and i think that comes across quite clearly in context of the whole post, and not just looking at the votes. That you are attempting to use my openness against me is telling.
Yes, you’re right. I actually originally typed just “will,” but I admit I decided to play it a little safe and add the “likely” so some nit-picking scum couldn’t come at me later if I decided to include both on my list (if, for example, I somehow became convinced that one was original scum and one was recruited scum) with: “You said you’d only vote for one, you LIAR, etc etc.” That’s what I get for being a little cautious, I guess.
Yes The target was recruited at dusk, therefore immediate access to the scumboard and no town power usage that night.
The burning questions of the Day : Who was recruited, why did we have no deaths, and whether to go after the scum in the vanilla pool or resolve with which of NAF and Oredigger are T-1000s.
I can see four basic scenarios covering the recruitment.[ol][li]NBC recruited the Paranoid Doc.[/li][li]NBC recruited a claimed Town power role other than the Paranoid Doc.[/li][li]NBC recruited a vanilla Scientist.[/li][li]NBC recruited the Vig.[/ol]I separated the last two mainly to ensure how to deal with it is at least addressed. When discussing the decisions NBC made, however, there is no difference between the two since he did not know who the Vig was, and would have just been picking randomly from the vanilla pool.[/li]
I think we can rule number 1 out. Squiddio said in post [post=10253315]1156[/post] that he had been beaten to the punch. That sounds like he was claiming to have sent in a Night action and been blocked. BS PI, could you confirm that please?
What about recruiting an uncontested power role? The advantages are mainly that the Town’s focus has been on the vanilla pool, and it creates an initial larger pool of uncertainty than recruiting a vanilla. The downside is that recruitment causes power loss, and they can’t continue to use it; thus cessation of some activity which might give them away. Some powers are more public than others, so (say) Commuter might be a good choice, or Doctor. Additionally, of course, it’s the move we expect.
Into this issue plays the effects of close proximity to me. I drive people mad, and when that happens they lose their powers. Just about the one person we can be 100% sure I did not send mad Yesterday is NBC, since we saw him publically display his powers. On that subject, there’s a lot of misunderstanding about my driving people mad, and when it happens. I’ll discuss that in a separate post.
Recruitment of a vanilla scientist (including the Vig). On the plus side, we’re looking for two people in that group of five, and if we find them, we’re likely to take the pressure off. Additionally, there is a 20% chance of neutralising the Vig, by turning them. Another point in its favour is that the recruit won’t have a (publically claimed) power to lose. The downside is that there is a smaller pool of suspects that is already under investigation by the players.
On balance, I’m inclined to favour the hypothesis that a member of the vanilla pool was recruited. As to which one – that will be the subject of a separate post.
Where did the death go? It’s already been hypothesised that it might have been the result of a protection by a Doc, or the Commuter hiding while attacked. It could also be the T-1000s mucking with our brains by deliberately not killing, or by forgetting to send in a kill. (We’ve seen it happen, but it is rare). No enough info to gauge the likelihood of these hypotheses.
On the last question, where to go scumhunting Today, I’m proposing to go fishing in the vanilla pool, and let the events of the Night reveal what they may in the morning. I’m open to the lynch of a Paranoid Doc, provided a clear case can be bought; but I’m not going to look at them primarily Today.
Can we get this one sooner rather than later? I think clearing it up would be quite helpful.
Also, since I seriously doubt you were recruited, can you step up to the plate and assign the Paranoids something to do tonight so there’s no hemming and hawing, so we can solve that problem Tomorrow?
how about
Oredigger - block JC again
NAF - DON’T block JC, but feel free to use your power elsewhere if you are the real doc.
Don’t see any downside to this.
I think that would be a pretty good way to confirm them. However: I think that scum could very well have recruited a power role. And whoever is scum of the two could, probably, claim to have blocked the recruit.
I second that request.
The way I understood it, your (MHaye) power is to randomly disable someone’s powers. And that that player will know about it. Am I wrong?
Last but not least: I favor the idea of fishing in the vanilla pool.

I strongly disagree with this vote, but as a cheap slut I should be happy that I’m getting some and not worry who it is. I was happier voting for myself because at least that would lead to the resolution of some of the debates out there. This way we are always going to wonder if one of the vanillas was converted by the jester, until we kill them all. With Boozy running rampant making people nuts it will be impossible to confirm the power roles.
